10 Awesomely Manly Un-Piggy Banks

I came across this DOPE grenade bank the other day, where you actually have to break it open in order to get your money back (I envision throwing it across the room! Haha…), and figured there must be some other cool banks out there I’ve been missing too. So I started poking around a little more, and came across this entire list presented to you today :)

If you’re ever in the market for some awesome un-piggy banks for your fellow guy, you now have a good place to start. And if you ever want to test out the joy it’ll bring that man in your life, feel free to send any of these #1-5 my way ;) We’ll consider it a late birthday present.

These are all amazing… but I’ve gotta say, I love #8 the most.

Not a frugal idea, but a showcase of these badboys on the J.$ library shelves would look totally awesome.

They should make the gold bar out of real gold…then I would consider buying it and filling it with gold coins.

I have that safe bank, although mine is red. I’ve had it forever. There isn’t any money in it, however. Instead, I use it to keep important things that are too small for my filing cabinet, like my social security card, and bank cards I don’t carry on me. For actual saving of cash, I somehow ended up in college with a coin bank from Commerce Bank, in the shape of their logo.

These are WAY more fun than my bank, which is just an old Snapple jar on the kitchen counter that gets raided WAY too often for toll money. One of these days I’ll get EZ Pass, really. :-P

The Stay Puft bank is AMAZING. I’d much rather use that to hold change than my current leftover Ikea candle jar.

My son has the Pirate treasure chest one. He went thru a big pirate phase around 3 years of age! We dont use it for change though.
He also has a 3 foot tall crayola crayon bank! That one is pretty full. Probably need to dump it out and send over to the 529!

I actually had that tootsie roll piggy bank. It was worth a lot more to me when it was originally filled with tootsie rolls rather than quarters. How does that make cents?

Very nice. I like the grenade, skull, and gold bar. I would worry the gold bar might get stolen, though. Doubt anyone would want the skull thinking it valuable by mistake.

Love the save/spend/give/invest banks. A fancy-pants friend of ours got us this one (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/money-scholar-sports-savings-bank-boys/3073537), which could replace the “piggy” with an “unpiggy” to “keep it real” to your title… Then again, it looks like it’s currently unavailable. Our son loves the banks though.

He’s 2.5 and every time he gets money he asks to put it in “the baseball banks,” which is really cool, especially because when you ask him what you do with money he says “one for saving, one for spending, one for giving.” He doesn’t have the “investing” one down yet, but I’m proud because at 2.5 he’s sadly well ahead of most 40-year-olds in the “what to do with money” arena…

Glad you all like ’em! As soon as I get unexpected cash, I’m picking up that skull one right away :) Then next will come the Grenade or treasure chest, esp if that Pirate flag comes with it! Haha… it’ll warn everyone that my Blogger Lair is serious business.

@BrokeElizabeth – Yeah? They had a TON of others like that too with all kinds of different sayings on it. Like, 20+ of ’em :) I think the same company makes them all if you’re interested in checkin’ em out.
@Money Infant – Oh I know it, sir! Already been thinking about it, haha…
@Erin – Good catch! I just went and updated the post – thanks! :)
@I Am 1 Percent – HAH! Now THAT would be awesome. But one damn expensive bank ;)
@Edward Antrobus – That’s some good advertising on their behalf ;) Though they’re now TD Bank, yeah? You should invest in a real safe-safe to keep all those valuables good sir. Keep an eye on the blog this week – we may or may not be giving one away ;)
    @Stephanie – Haha… yes, EZ Pass is a brilliant brilliant invention ;)
@Andrew from FabulousSavings – Haha… then maybe empty the ikea jar and use the money to buy Mr. Stay Puft! Maybe he’ll get you to save more? :)
@Michelle – It was a fun research project over here :) Gotta love blogging for a living!
@Nicole – Oooooh very cool! I think your son and I would really get a long :)
    @Marianne – Care to elaborate? ;)
@Brian – HAH! I know friends who used to do that back in college too – though they’d “borrow” the pitcher to use as the coin collector ;)
@Funancials – Me too! The tootsies combined is probably worth more than the paper bank part anyways ;)
@cashflowmantra – Those are actually my 3 faves too :) I don’t think anyone would think they’re banks just by looking at them, which I like a lot (well, maybe the bar, but def. not the grenade or skull). They’d look bad ass in my library!
@Stephanie @ Athlete at Heart – Haha… well anything’s manlier than a piggy bank, yeah? :) This one’s more for the quirky men, how’s that? Or the fans of Expedia.
@LB – Hey! I actually saw (and liked) that one during my search :) But yeah, the only reason it wasn’t included was the “man” factor… though I’d personally put that one on my shelves any day too, I like that kinda stuff. Good find!
@Nick – HAH! Def. a good one!! I like it a lot :) I’ll have to keep it in mind for when our little one pops out and grows up. Helluva fun way to teach kids the value of money, good job.

Woah…I am definitely going to need to get the skull one for my husband. And we actually give out the Money Savvy pigs to our clients in recognition of a new child.

I do love the regular piggy, and I think it comes in manly colors. And the Money Savvy piggy is great for a child. For me, I’m using an old metal Folgers can right now, but I’d love a Hello Kitty one instead, if they’re out there.

Having the J$ Blogger Lair decorated this way is a great idea. See, you don’t need those fancy pants decorating mags, you’ve got it going on yourself!

I think the coolest “piggy bank” I have seen is an antique brass cash register. I imagine looking forward to the the ca-ching every time I added to my stash would be incentive to skip that trinket or “drink-it” and save my money instead. :)

My kids each have a bank that displays an increasing digital total as coins are added in the lid. Not very sexy looking, but they have fun with it.

@Stephanie – What a great idea! Excellent gift :) For both the new parents AND your husband, haha…
@Carol in Mpls – Haha… well, the mags DO help with visualizing where and how to put the banks up ;) I gotta find the best way to showcase them!
@retirebyforty – Yeah it is. Wanna buy me it? ;)
@Aloysa @ My Broken Coin – Both excellent choices :)
@Melissa – You should treat yourself with it after a next financial accomplishment!
@BusyExecutiveMoneyBlog – Good call :) I’ll be getting one as well once ours is old enough to understand.
@Lisa @ Cents To Save – I’m glad! Thanks for stopping by :)
@Heather Stephens – Ooooh I like that! Have you for real seen one like that before, or you just making it up in your head? Cuz now I really want it! Haha… that *ca-ching* would be hot!
@Agatha K, The Fun Money Nerd – I think they actually have that! Maybe not hot-hot pink, but def. pink ;)
