Filing taxes TODAY??? Who are you, Superman?
I just talked w/ two friends that are sending out their taxes TODAY! aka April the 14th, aka the DAY BEFORE THEY'RE DUE.
What is going on with everyone? Are people not as afraid of the Gov't as I am? Man, seriously you all have balls. Big Huge ones. Either that or you're super cool and don't take crap from anyone. (in which case, how can i be like you?)
Maybe i never really paid attention, or cared even, but this really surprises me. Does laziness play a part in this? I always have to get it done early (like in Feb), esp if i'm getting money back. Even a fellow PF blogger, Mapgirl, just recently sent hers in - but at least she knows what she's doing.
Anyways, just thought i'd share...maybe next year i'll wait to the last minute so i can be a member of the Cool Club.

heheh.I always file early too. Even if I owe money, I make sure I payy early. The last thing I want is get trouble with irs, go in jail and never be able to eligible for cpa :)
I think it's lazy and irresponsible.
People shouldn't leave something as important as that to the very end.

I like to get them done early as well, especially when I get money back. I like seeing the check from the government arrive, and why "loan" them something longer than needed? Also - waiting just increases the chances of things going wrong. There's no reason for it other than being lazy...

I never understood people who wait until the last minute either. I guess some people are just procrastinators in every way. But if you're pretty sure you'll be getting a refund, why wouldn't you do it earlier??
Looks to me like we are all members of the cool club here! I try to get mine done by the end of January, then hold off on sending them until the end of the first week of February, just to make sure nothing extra trickles in that I might need. And even if I am only getting a small amount back, it's mine and I want it! :)
Wow, i just checked in and you all really got to commenting :) I have to say i'm w/ you all too (obvi).
I'm just not that good with stress. But you know what, if there are people out there that can do this real well, more power to them! (That includes you MapGirl).
I'm more worried for those who don't pay attention and get themselves in trouble :)
Early Cool Club 4 Ever.
i did my taxes AGES ago. as soon as i got my W2 i was online doing the taxes. BUT i knew i was going to get a refund so that probably explains my rush. if i was going to owe money...well, i probably wouldn't have been in such a rush.
Mine are just getting electronically filed today. Did I procrastinate? Not at all but normally I do.
I had to fight with my husbands former employer just to make them pay to get my taxes done. That foreign income makes our taxes complicated. Thankfully they finally agreed. Woo hoo I'm getting a refund and will be able to pay off what I owe in state taxes from 2006.
Life is good. :-)
