What's up with your pictures, J? Did you get them? Tell us!
Back by popular demand, here's an update on our wedding picture fiasco! I realize it's not the most positive thing to read these days, so feel free to X on out and move onto the next site you're addicted to ;)So where did we leave off? Oh yes, we threatened our good friend d-head w/ court if he didn't send us our pics by this last Friday, November 14th. And, naturally, he didn't send them.
So we started researching court and mediation and stuff like that, but they all required an address to send the documentation to and all (which we didn't have) and stated that without it, the process could be severely delayed and hard to get started.
Now, i'm no judicial genius, but it seemed like we're pretty screwed without it. That means the little bastard has allllll the power! But before we could get down on ourselves, a very magical thing happened out of thin air!
An idea popped into my head! And this idea told me that if we could create our OWN power/leverage/bargaining chip, that we could get this resolved much quicker.
Know what came to me? The power of the internet! I mean, just blogging anonymously about it gets people riled up and passionate, but imagine stating all the names and company involved and all, right? And then plastering it all over the net, in other blogs, wedding forums, facebook, myspace, and even sending it to newspapers and tv stations! Talk about creating some mad leverage ;)
So that's exactly what i did this weekend - I spent 5 hours creating an entire blog around this issue. And let me tell you, it's not your ordinary one ;) I named names, attached emails and our contract, and linked the HELL out of the whole thing for better SEO and chances it'll rise to the top in Google and such. I even bought a domain name and everything, just to prove how serious i was!
I also talked it over w/ a lawyer friend of mine to make sure i can't get in trouble for slander or anything of that nature. I'm probably still on the border of that, but i was told that as long as i "stick to the facts" and not assume anything or lie or write anything that i can't prove and back up, that it's fair game (What do you think jessica?). I mean, if it works for Consumerist.com, maybe it'll work for me?
The point of this site is simple: We keep this horrible review online until we receive every last picture owed to us.
If we get them, we gladly close down the site. If we don't, his name and company name will be forever brandished online for all to see. (his name is in his company name, so he's pretty screwed even if he re-brands his company name).
And that's where we stand today. The website is created, and i'm about to make it public any minute! I seriously hope this does the trick, we're running out of ideas...
----
ps: I'm sooooo sorry i can't post the site here, believe me i would LOVE that more than anything, but it would totally give away my anonymity!

Heh, you doubt that with the info you have given us we would not be able to google you! We will find you!
j/k
haha...this is true ;) what is meant to be will be.
Did you try doing a people search online? People's addresses can be found.
i think you should still look into legal action. try last known address, and let the post office find him...
good luck!
by the way, on the anonymity thing - i guess i'm curious as to why people worry about that. what are your reasons for it?
Yeah, there are ways to find his address. You shouldn't let that stop you. An address for his company should be easy to find.
You should also post, or have your wife post, reviews on The Knot and other wedding message boards for your area. As someone who just got married in September, I know how much brides-to-be depend on those sites, and a negative review would cost him business. And if you haven't, you should contact the Better Business Bureau.
You can also pay for people searches through companies online. I don't think it costs much (less than $50?), and it might be worth it, just to get an address so you can sue him.
If it wern't for the fact that your wedding pictures were at stake, I might say that this is pretty entertaining. Go get 'em!
Dude, I would continue pursuing legal action in addition to the blog. This D-Bag needs to get what's coming to him. I don't understand why he just can't send you the digital images. Unless he doesn't have them, which seems like it's the case and that would royally blow.
It sucks that this is happening and I hope you get the pound of flesh x 10 that you're gunning for.
I've had a lot of luck finding people using Ultimate White Pages online. Simply google this and it's usually the first listing. All you need is the person's first name, last name and a city. Good luck!
J - saying where you posted your review and other posts from your blog disclosing your location made it waaaay too easy to find your review (and subsequently the name of the photographer). You might want to remove that information if you cherish your anonymity.
Brilliant :D
J,
I've been reading your blog for a while now and just wanted to drop by and say sorry about the wedding pics - my wife and I are newlyweds as well, and I know how important those are (especially if your wifey is as obsessive about pictures as mine).
I just started my first blog today - come check it out
Thanks!
Im so sorry to hear the D-Bag is still on the run!! But what a brilliant idea to post the website. Have you contacted the photographer with the news of this?? I would be curious to hear what he has to say about the website.
It boggles my mind why he is putting you through so much, you would think he would just want to send the pictures off and be done with it all??!! Atleast, thats what a level minded person would do...
oh wells - hope it all works out for you and the wifey!! =)
Great idea. I hope you get the pictures and I hope this guy gets what's coming to him.

Yeah, we haven't crossed out court action just yet! Just figured this would at least get the ball rolling much faster while we get everything together.
I've tried searching for him online, but since he literally got up and moved across the country AFTER our wedding, he has yet to post his new address anywhere....BUT we have some ideas on this - like asking our friends who know him and trying to finagle it out of him.
He also runs a blog, funny enough, and i'm sure it's just a matter of time until he puts it up somewhere - even facebook!
@paradigmshifted - My main reason for being anonymous is so i can say whatever i wish w/out worrying about any friends or family getting in my business...i consider owning up sometimes so i can market this a lot more, but dont feel comfortable w/ my net worth up there and everyone knowing exactly how much money we have and stuff, ya know? I talk a little bit about it here if you're interested, but i never count it out ;)
@Anonymous - Good idea on The Knott and all that :) And yup, we already tried the BBB and not a single word back, from either the jerk-face OR the BBB. WTF?
@Tom - seriously, where do you come up with this stuff!! haha...i love it.
@Student Scrooge - oh it's okay, it's DEFINITELY entertaining :)
@Anonymous #3 - YIKES! I'll have to edit around a bit - THANK YOU for telling me and not plastering it around, much appreciated!
@Newlywed Finances - glad you're a reader, and hell yeah i'll check out your site! Blogging is sooooo freakin' fun, you'll love it.
Thanks everyone else for your support (as always). I shall keep you all abreast of any new information. And here's to getting it resolved :)
If I were you, I would start posting comments on all kinds of wedding blogs - there are a million of em out there - with, of course, the URL back to your site. Good luck!! Keep at em!
I love it!
Have you tried looking for him on zabasearch? I just found myself, but I'm not a sleazeball withholding wedding pictures.
haha...nope, never heard of zabasearch before but i'll check it out :)
Unless the D-bag is planning on being a wedding photographer in his new location, I don't know how helpful the blog will be.
I'd really try to shake down your mutual friends for the new address and proceed with the legal actions.
Good luck!
Zabasearch is good, but sometimes outdated. It's worth a try. Also try your county courthouse: tax records, mortgage documents, and court proceedings are public records. Got a name? You're probably not the only one who's been shafted. Look him up in county and city court records, and also if you have the name of his business, look it up on the county property tax records. Voila! An address. Maybe some other good dirt on him, too....
You might also pop for a credit report on the SOB. The credit bureau will give you his last known address.
You got, J. Tap into that internet power. I'm sure others who share your struggle with the companies involved will come forward... and then you've not only help your cse but helped other people too!
