Am i slow, or did gas just plummet like a mother this month?
I've noticed it hasn't gone UP at all, but i feel like i just transported back into 2001! It's amazing. The last time i blogged about gas it was around $4-something and i filled my Toyota Highlander for $60.56!Know how much i spent yesterday? $27.89!!! for the same almost-16 gallon tank full, only this time @ $1.96 - and that's for Premium! Dannnnng son, gotta love that. Now, my cadillac will def. use up more than the SUV, but it sure makes my decision to switch cars much better :)
I know there's a whole butt-load behind the reasoning for all this - supply and demand, oil reserves, blah blah blah - but i have my own theory here, and it's probably not original in the least:
I simply think gas gets more expensive when it's warmer out, and much lower when it's colder out. plain and simple.
The hotter it gets - the higher it goes! And the colder it gets, the lower it goes. whatcha think about that? i'm only basing it on this past year, of course, but it makes sense to me :) I don't need no stinkin' variables and high-tech gadgets to figure out this one! haha...
From this day forward, GAS is back on the friend list. And this makes me happy - i hate having enemies! And know what else makes me happy? It's FRIIIIIIIIDAYYYYYYYYYYYYY bitches! Now get out there and make poppa proud!

Will do papa bear... HAHA. But yea, what used to put a $40 dollar hole in my budget, is now $20 for two weeks. No too shabby. That is $40 more bucks a month into savings or my debt snowball. Woot!
I love the gas prices.. $1.55 a gallon.. awesome! I drive about 150 miles a week just back and forth to school.. and I had a budget set aside for gas.. and I have extra money in there thanks to that decrease!

We aren't complaining about this right?? :)
Low Gas Prices = AWESOME
But now that I think about it, Snow Days are good too because it makes me stay inside without feeling like I need to go out in that hell.
I've been watching the steady decline and loving it!!! This gives me a little more wiggle room in my gas budget.
Saw gas for $1.49 on Wednesday. Now it's jumped to $1.75 for some reason (the weekend?). Either way, it's still much easier on my budget - we're spending half the amount on gas that we were two or three months ago. I never thought I'd see gas below $2/gallon again. It's been a nice break.
Actually, your theory isn't too far off the mark:

@Maile - ooooh la la, thx for that! that drawing is freakin' hilarous too, helped me to read it all ;) thx for hollering.
@Fabulously Broke - yeah, i just read that on your blog - is it *still* falling? my goodness that's crazy...but you're right, more snow = less money on gas!
@Budget Mama - hell yeah. and you know it's sexy that you have a budget for gas don't you :) ow ow!
@Pamela @ Frugal Vet Tech - that's weird? i'm sure it's the weekend doing that...at least that's what people always say. and hell yeah, going back in time baby!
@Saver in the City - well would ya look at that. i'm not as think as i dumb i am! haha... i had no idea it was *different* gas too, very interesting. thx for hollering!
@Revanche - here i am, i'll take that hug.....waiting :)
If only that explained why petrol prices in Australia are going down as well though we're heading to summer...
1.33 here in Houston, which worries me now that's this low... hopefully it won't go back up too fast.

i hate to be the wet blanket, but it's gonna suck when they pop back up again (when opec reduces output)....
I am enjoying these prices finally as I still have my gas guzzling SUV....It is about time...
hell, anything under $2 a gallon is peachy with me!!! =)
Lets just hope this lasts a long long time...
I have looked it up and right now are are at almost an all time low on gas prices when adjusted for inflation. This is not a sustainable level of prices and is only due to other issues going on right now.
The problem with OPEC cutting production is that they say they will but everyone cheats, and they don't cut what they say they will. The only OPEC country that can afford to cut production and be sustainable with their gov't spending is Saudi, but they are getting annoyed at all these other countries and don't feel like cutting all their production to help out brazil and iran.
I am in Houston also, with the $1.33 prices and it is kinda scary because we are so energy based in this city. Finally these economic problems are coming this way. We had previously avoided all the collapse with the housing market and financial markets for the most part, but a collapse in energy would hurt pretty bad here.
Gas around the philly area is pretty cheap. I must say though I am definitely driving more and always b/c my sub conscious is telling me that "Hey make that extra trip, gas is cheap, step on it!"
It is good that gas is cheap now, but it is problematic for our future esp w/ the way the economy is right now so be very wary!
$1.33??? dannnng son that is aweseme...i actually saw it at $1.59 today but that's the lowest i've found in the DC area.. I think you're def. right in that it's not gonna keep staying low - i just really hope it take a while to get back up (at LEAST till the summer again) so hopefully everything else in our economy picks up a bit more...
i also don't feel like hearing that "gas will be $10/gallon by next month!" scare tacticts...*shiver*
And word up Australia!!! Nice seeing ya here :) Gonna go hit up your site right now.
I like filling up for cheap as much as anybody else, but we absolutely need gas to stay high for us to get any real action done on becoming more energy independent.
Cheap gas + Energy Independence = BIG oxymoron.
Cheap gas = continued dependence on OPEC + big problems in future when supply crunch hits much harder.
this is true...my boy Obama will get on this soon, so i'll just enjoy it while it lasts ;)
