Could you comfortably spend an extra $80 today on a whim?

January 30, 2009

Or does your budget not allow for such a thing? Fortunately/unfortunately, I’ve had some random a$$ things come up where I’ve had to ask myself the very same thing. And luckily (due to sexy budgeting and knowing where all my money hides), the answer has been a firm YES. The most recent occurance happend as I popped into my dentist this morning for a routine […]

"Bank of America is Milking Taxpayers…Three Times"

January 29, 2009

Got this flyer while walking past a Bank of America an hour ago… If you click to enlarge it, you’ll see some pretty compelling evidence against them regarding bail-outs. No idea how one-sided this is or anything, but it can’t be good for business. Gotta love freedom of speech :)

Does the financial crisis have a silver lining? (Q&A)

January 29, 2009

Yeah, for sure! It may not override the ugly situation out there, but they do exist – they always do, it’s just a matter of finding them sometimes ;) The Public Insight Network shoots me a poll every now and then asking for some input, and this time I had something to say! And since they fit in nicely w/ the bloggy blog here, I […]

Hell yeah I check my bank accounts every day! Why not?

January 28, 2009

Keeping daily tabs on your accounts are good for the financial soul ;) Not everyone enjoys doing it these days – esp with some in particular (*cough* 401ks, *cough* mutual funds) – but I find it important to do, even if only once a week instead. It’s just crazy the amount of things that could happen w/out our knowledge! ID theft, incorrect transactions, wrong tip […]

How much do you pay for car insurance? Not $1600 right?

January 27, 2009

That’s how much a friend of mine pays every 6 months – $1600! (ouch). I guess it doesn’t help having a couple DUI’s and a fancy a$$ sports car ;) With extremes like that aside though, what do you think the average person pays for car insurance? I’m going to guess $1000/6 months, and now Google it and see what I can find… Well, I […]

The Awesomest Compilation of Weird & Crazy Jobs E-V-E-R!

January 26, 2009

And you thought today was gonna be boring ;) This all started the other day when my girl Money Mate Kate posted up some crazy-a$$ jobs she’s taken in the past (Italian Icee Truck Driver, Bone Counter, Substitute mommy?) – I was dying! And once I began to compose myself, it got me thinking…I’ve done some pretty whacked out stuff too! But as I started […]

Dear Debt, You will have to PRY this cash from my fist.

January 23, 2009

You will win, as you always do, but i’m still putting up a fight! And how do you always know when i have extra cash around anyways? Do you have spies at my beloved USAA? However you do it, know that I’m not a fan. And when this little relationship is over one day, I’m sorry to say that you will not be missed. (no […]

Hot Damn y’all, It’s Tax Season! Get Sexcited!

January 22, 2009

I know, I’m calling myself out as a huge psycho here. I really can’t help it though, this part of the year gets me all excited and giddy! There’s something so satisfying about gathering all your paperwork for the year, and then closing it all out. It’s like the Super Bowl of your Money, if you will ;) Of course, it’s probably a bit more […]

Renters are BAD for your home value? Are you cereal?

January 21, 2009

That’s the word on the street from some communities out there. They’d rather have your house empty and foreclosed upon than rented out and occupied! I’m not digging that boss. But according to an article i just read in Feb’s SmartMoney mag (pg. 91), that’s what a good 40% of homeowners associations are restricting – your option to rent out your own place!Did you even […]
