I Grant You One Free Luxury - Which Shall You Pick?

J. Money In A Bottle...I had this dream last night that I had my own personal chauffeur! And for the 3 days it lasted (in dream-world of course), I was pimping that thing all over town. Wendy's, work, our kickball game, I was getting the hook up everywhere we went.

And to be honest, I awoke 1/2 way convinced that I would seriously put up the cash to have it in real life. Of course, then I took a shower and realized how stupid that would financially be and that was the end of my 9 hour dream - literally! (and yes, I think about numbers and blogging while showering cuz i'm a big dork like that.) But, it got this ol' brain of mine thinking. If we were granted a free "luxury" for every day life, is there something you'd nab in a heart beat? And why *that* one over all others?

To help you with today's question, I've decided to waste 20 mins off my life conjuring up a whole suite of possible perks to choose from. But feel free to come up w/ your own as well! I know we've got some creative bastards reading this so I won't even try to stand in your way ;)
  • 24/7 Personal Chauffeur - Your own driver (and car) to take you anywhere, anytime, no questions asked. Great for: bar hopping, airport pick ups/drop offs, driving you on weekend getaways.
  • 24/7 Personal Chef - Ooooooh this one has HOT written all over it! Covers your breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, you name it. And, since it's YOUR perk here, you could even have him/her teach you how to cook so you don't have to necessarily give it up if you enjoy it ;)
  • Personal Assistant - Your own go-to person to cover any needs whatsoever. Dry cleaning, errands, packing your lunch, etc. They don't pay for any of these items requested, BUT their services are on the house. And we'll assume all these choices going forward are 24/7.
  • Personal Masseuse - I know some of you ladies will choose this one. Might I recommend Money Mate Kate? I heard she's the best around.
  • Free Food for Life - Never have to worry about paying for it again! Covers all groceries, dinners @ restaurants, snacks, you name it. (doesn't cover drinks of any sort)
  • Free Drinks & Alcohol for Life - Same as food except this makes you feel a bit funnier ;) Never have to pay for another long island ice tea again! Or milk for that matter...
  • Free Hotel Room/Nap Area - The freedom to sleep wherever and whenever your heart desires! At work and need a 20 min power nap? You got it! Out at the bars and too drunk to make it home? No problem! Get your friend who picked the 24/7 Chauffeur to take you there ;)
  • Free Clothes! - Everything from Wal-Mart to Fendi, it's all you baby. Covers everything but shoes (this is a perk, not a fantasy! haha...)
Okay, I'll stop there. I've actually wasted 30 minutes of my company's time now and it's probably a good idea to get going. Plus, I gotta find a way to turn these wishes into realities somehow...I'm thinking silent velcro or some other random invention. Either that, or hard work ;)

Anyway I can combine the free food and the chef? That sounds like heaven to me. Then I can eat healthy food but have it taste really good, instead of the bogus stuff I come up with. Boy... I could be thinking about this for a while... :)

How about a genius personal accountant that takes all my dollar bills and turns them into millions? Naww... I'm doing that on my own ;) - I'll stick with the chef.

Free food, hands down! I can cook it, I just hate having to pay for it all the time!

Last night I dreamed I was carrying a little newborn/2 month old (that age range) around on my hip. I told the Mr. about this dream and he rolled his eyes along with that sick/shocked look on his face. :oD

I need a housekeeper. I am close to the worst in the world and it's a constant pen around here (short for pig pen.) In fact, I've gotta bust the dishes out right now. I'm good at that and the clothes are always clean, but the clean laundry piles go almost literally up to the ceiling. Someone who loves to clean/organize/fluff and fold would be my dream employee (used to have one of those a few hours a week but I can't afford that! Plus the kind I could afford to hire talked back to me and ridiculed my lack of skillz, like I needed that.)

I had a dream that I had a helicopter once, and I was flat-out PISSED when I woke up and didn't have one.

But since a chauffeur can't fly, and the helicopter isn't on your list, I'd go with the hotel room/nap area. A good sleep is one of the finest ways a person can spend time.

I'm going with the free food for life. I'd eat like a king and save a bundle.

If that one's taken then I'm going with the booze. I've always wanted a complete bar and wine cellar.

Wow, this one is tough..... having a personal chef vs. always having a hotel room... hmm.... I don't mind paying for my food, but I really don't want to cook and clean, what a timewaster! Then again, knowing I could live in a hotel room that someone would clean for me is nice too (aside from the obvious being able to travel wherever and always have accomodation).... I'd have to get back to you on being one of these two choices!

I would have too choose a housekeeper for life. Not having to wash, dry, fold or put away laundry and clean the house would be heaven!

I'm a little scared of the free food - I think I would definitely over-eat (buffet-style, anyone?).

A personal assistant, on the other hand, can probably do my laundry, clean, pick up the kids, go GET my groceries, and anything else that sucks up the majority of my after-work time.

I was torn between the free food and the personal assistant, but, since this IS a money blog after all, I'd have to go with the free food. That would definitely be the budget-savvy thing to do!

Personal chef would be nice, but I'll go with free food -- then I can eat at restaurants when I want someone else to cook for me (which would be awesome). Yes! Where do I collect?

Definitely a personal chef. I always want to eat healthier (good for me and chemical free), but I want to eat tasty food too. And I'm lazy. So a personal chef sounds perfect.

I would have to go with the free food. After dropping around $200 a month, it just gets old.

By the way, do you use one of those shower caps so you don't get your fauxhawk wet?

I love to cook so I definitely have to go with free food. I can only imagine what kind of wonderful thinks I could make if I had an unlimited food budget. Of course, I would then have to spend my food budget going to the gym!!

Second choice would be masseuse. That would be fabulous!

A kick butt personal trainer/nutritionist. Someone I could sit down with and talk about food and exercise who could give me all the right tips!

I'm torn between a housekeeper (who also goes to the grocery store) and a personal chef. I guess cooking would be more fun if the rest of the house was clean and there weren't 1 million other things to get done, so housekeeper. Though if s/he had some culinary skills I'd be in heaven.

I would love someone to go clothes shopping for me, then pick out my outfits and do my hair and make up everyday.

But free food... that's hard to pass up. Is it free food for the family, or just for me? With the money I would save on food for the family I could probably pay someone to dress me and still have money left over.

Considering I love food more than anything and completely base my day around my meals I would love free food for life. I eat so much that having it all for free would be delicious and amazing with the savings.

Most practical would be the housecleaner, but I totally want the hotel room. As long as my husband can come...:)

I choose the chef. I thought that before even reading your options.

I can cook DECENT, but boy oh boy I would love a chef.

Personal Masseuse for sure! Everything else, you can do for yourself (mostly) but you can't give yourself a massage!

The food would probably be the most practical from a financial standpoint, but I think that the personal assistant would probably take the most pressure off of my day-to-day existence. The only problem would be overcoming my embarassment at actually having an assistant and asking him/her to take care of some of the things it would be nice to have done.

Woahhh FREE FOOD wins hands down! Boy, would have never guessed that...but then again, it does sound like the most financial way to go ;) It's always so interesting seeing what people think about this stuff, thx for leaving your answers!

@Jeff@StretchyDollar - Good call on that accountant! Never would have thought of that.
@444 - Guys tend to do that ;) haha...
@Matt - Oh HELL YEAH! I'd be pissed too - helicopters rock. Esp. if you can keep it on your roof.
@Wojciech - Smart call, we'd all be eating like cRaZy if it were unlimited, people prob. weren't considering that.
@Adam - Haha, nope. I wash that bad boy and then spend the 15 mins to get it back up every single morning...well, most of the time anyways. If you catch me in a hat it means i was too lazy to slick it all up...or i woke up late :)
@Anonymous - Oooooh i actually might choose that one myself. I would love a personal trainer/nutritionist.
@Ashley @ Wide Open Wallet - Yes ma'am, free food covers the whole family! So you'd be straight.
@Christy - haha..yes, your husband/whomever you want can hang w/ you in the hotel rooms ;)
@Coupon Artist - this is true! well, you can *try* to massage yourself, but it wouldn't do much...nice thinking my friend.

1. All the local, organic food I will ever need (not all at once of course)

2. Handbags!

3. Travel. From backpacking to staying in luxury hotels - I want to do it all.

Hmmm... It'd be between the chef and masseuse. Both are awfully tempting. But if I were getting a massage every week (or even every day) I think I could manage the food thing on my own!

I like the sound of "Free Food for Life"...my grocery budget is a thorn in my side and then I would have extra money for plane tickets, a housekeeper, babysitters....all of the other luxuries that I want on a more occasional basis.

Fun post!

I'd pay for the food myself, but I'd LOVE to have someone go and do all the shopping for me. I hate grocery shopping! (of course, if that's included in free food, I'm all over that one.)

Free food, I like to cook... I like to shop for myself and other people and thought about being a personal shopper/assistant so that wouldnt interest me. Have a friend that is a massage therapist who gives me great discounts...

I was going for personal assistant (sometimes the remote is too far for me to reach) until I saw free food! I'd probably become overweight and happy :D

Or free travel - like the gold tickets on Lost (but minus all the trouble to get said tickets).

I really wanted to pick the masseuse because I've always got some major tension going on in my shoulders and back. But that's a luxury that's not necessary to survival and would eat up much more time every day than I'm willing to give. So I'll go with free food! It'd save me over $150 each month! My only fear would be that I'd take advantage of it TOO much and would become a heffer. ;) A personal assistant would be nice, as that would save me a lot of time, but I probably wouldn't use the new time for anything important. Food, it is!
