Financial Checklists Are Key. What's Yours?
Just like budgets, financial checklists also come in different shapes and sizes.Today I present to you a real-life one by fellow blogger Kaitlyn from Upturned Barbie. She blogs about life in general, but it's pretty obvious she has a keen eye on her finances.
Check out her current game plan:
- Open a c.d. (waiting for a decent initial deposit)
- Decide on, and begin, contributing to an IRA
- Pay off the less than $1k of debt I have
- Apply for, & get, a credit card & make regular pymts
- Buy a house (foreclosed) in 1-2 years w/ a 30% down pymt & six months living expenses
It doesn't come w/out it's drawbacks (she's currently working 50 hours a week), but saving like a squirrel getting ready for winter sure does have its perks! How about you rock stars? Care to share? (You can see my top 3 over there in my sidebars, along w/ my progress)

Yeah yeah! Funny thing, I actually have a guest post about this topic going up at Financial Nut sometime this week. Nice idea ;)
My plans are boring, and don't change much from y ear to year. They include:
Max out 401k including age 50 catchup
Max out IRA, including age 50 cathcup
Continue mortgage prepayments
Pay for sunroom (hasn't been built yet)
Boost emergency fund to $24,000
Ha. J, you flatter and amuse me. I may or may not be blushing.
Also, I'm 20. Not even legal to drink yet! :)
@BSquared - Hell yeah! Just took a peek over there - way to stay on top and rock that $hit out :) Having a plan is where it's at.
@Jeff@StretchyDollar - For real? I'll keep my eyes open for it sir.
@Anonymous - That's not boring to all of us reading ;) in fact, maxing out the Roth and 401k are personally the sexiest things I can imagine in finance right now, freakin' love them. Very impressive, I'm sure you'll make 'em happen!
@Kaitlyn - Huh...where the hell did i get 25 from?! weird. it has been updated my beautiful little reader (blushing again?)
J, yes, I am. Blushing again, that is.
Damn. Now you know my game plan AND that I blush easily. Ha.
It's good to have a game plan! Here's mine!
Save for wedding next year
Get married - Stick to the budget!
Max out Roth IRA
Pay off debts
Buy a house - 20% down payment (Minimum!)
Increase emergency fund
Get fiance's business going - provide financial support
Replace car?
Max out 401k
Achieve financial independence! Woohoo!
AWESOME!!!! That's quite a list my friend - I hope you make every one of them :)
