Summer Tip: Buy winter clothes now!

It may not be possible @ all stores, but if you can - start picking up as many winter clothes as your budget permits. My bro just got a great a$$ deal over at Banana Republic due to them clearing shop (he picked up like five $60+ sweaters for only $14.99) I've also seen Gap, Express, and Old Navy unloading a bit too.

You might get last year's "oldies", but most people won't even notice/care for that matter. It's a match made in heaven for us frugal shoppers. Quality clothing at a fraction of the price! Another smart place to look is outlet centers and places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, etc. If you've got one around your hood, I'd also check out Rugged Wearhouse - I've gotten clothes there at 75% off retail, including Nautica jackets for $25 and Armani jeans for only $20!

If you're seeing any other stores cleaning out their inventory, let us know :)

I'd also mention that you don't have to go the the physical stores to find the deals. Check out their websites too! I've made some INSANE purchases and old navy and gap mid summer for corduroys and coats.

Oh and also ebay. Most people aren't thinking winter clothes right now so the sellers that are trying to unload their winter wares on there as well aren't getting as many bids on those particular items. I got some awesome Doc's boots on there last year for like $10 bucks! (I also bought some nice DM sandals in the dead of winter for super cheap on e-bay as well!)

This is a great tip. I always try to buy clothes out of season. You get such great deals, and you are right no one notices if they aren't the newest and greatest (at least no one I want to be friends with)!

Awesome tip. I've stocked the closets a few times only to open it up for "free shopping in the closet" when that season rolls around. It's fun!

@MK - Good point! I always forget about those "new methods". haha...big fan of craigslist myself, followed by amazon and eBay and then online retail stores. They all offer great benefits though for sure.
@asgreen - Getting REALLY good deals on clothes is one of my favorite finds :) As long as the item of interest looks and feels good on me, I don't care what the brand is. Unfortunately, I usually fall for those higher end ones without realizing it.
@444 - haha...nice. it's always great looking back at your winter/summer stuff for the first time and being like, "Hot damn, i forgot i picked that up!"

This is so true. I know that when we feel hot we don't feel like winter shopping but it is so nice to get in early and get the best outfits. You are truly missing out on an opportunity if you don't get into the shops now.

So think winter, grab yourself a coffee and jump into those stores for the best winter bargains you can grab. Because no one else is buying right now everything in your size and color is right there.

Goodluck! Wish I could come and watch you pick your clothes and give some tips, but you shall just have to do it alone. :-)

Another YEAH! for the rugged wearhouse!! I have found amazing, normally-$150 hiking boots for $20 (they lasted TWO years walking on lava flows in Hawaii!), Ann Taylor shirts and pants for $4, and lots of other awesome stuff there.

I wish they would come to NZ. I'll have to stock up next week when I'm in VA!

This is the time that I like to buy summer clothes. Usually, stores start clearing out around July 4th. Every year I get some crazy deals at the Gap! The best part is that I get to wear the clothes I buy for the next four months (Texas).
