7 Frugally Hot Halloween Costumes

bert and earnie costumesI literally JUST realized Halloween was THIS weekend! As in tonight!  As in “OMG I don’t have a Halloween costume yet!”

It’s a good thing I wasn’t invited to any great parties or else I’d be a scramblin’. Although it sure woulda felt good opening up all them invites :(  Oh well…they were probably too nervous that I’d drink all their beer… And rightfully so ;)

But anyways – if you’re looking for some quick and cheap costume ideas you’re in the right spot! Here a few of my favorites from last year’s costumes (which would last you 40 whole years by the time you got through them all!):

  1. Christmas Tree: I once saw this guy dressed in all green with nothing else but Christmas lights wrapped around him. It looked kinda stupid at first, but when he plugged himself into the wall he had the whole party’s attention! (and he got a lot of chicks that night)
  2. Random Hook-up: Drape a lot of colored extension cords around you and you’re a “Random Hook-up.”
  3. DC Tourist: You know the kind: fanny pack, I heart DC tshirt, metro maps, high-waisted long shorts, camera :)
  4. Smarty Pants: Tape smarties candies to your pants – SMARTY PANTS!

And here are some other AWESOME and super cheap ideas from my latest post over at Amex’s Currency: 10 Frighteningly Cheap, Easy, Hilarious Halloween Costume Ideas

    1. The tanning bed. Tape glow-sticks up and down your arms. Then go around the party, entrapping people in your embrace: Instant tanning bed.
    2. The chick magnet. Tape a bunch of Barbie dolls to yourself. Or use pictures of hot girls!
    3. The gold digger. Wear a shiny gold dress. Bring a shovel.

Funny right??? Like any of them? You can always do what I usually do and just throw on some guyliner and black nail polish and pretend you’re a rock star ;)  Although it does get a tad annoying always having to explain what you’re dressed as 24/7.  Can’t people just read minds? Haha…

You guys already have your outfits picked? Anything nice & juicy you can tell us about?  Either way, I hope you all have a magical weekend!!!  Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do ;)

        Haha, that’s awesome Rachel.

Last time I went out for Halloween was a few years ago when I went to a dueling piano bar dressed as a banana. I ended up dancing on top of the piano to Gwen Stefani’s “Holla’ Back Girl”, you know the part that goes, “This $#|* is bananas, b-a-n-a-n-a-s”.

        I like Halloween.

One year, I tied a potato to my belt and went as a dictator.

Picked up a plastic yellow hardhat. Blue button up shirt and jeans with dirt on me to be a chilean miner. Now i just gotta find 2 females to fight over me all night to play the wife & mistress.

My husband was a ref and I was a penalty flag – all we needed was the ref shirt ($20 on Amazon.com) as he had pants, a whistle, etc. he could use, and I wore a bright yellow, $5 rain poncho from the grocery store to be the penalty flag.

Mine’s pretty frugally hot! I’m wearing PJs, pigtails, and holding a teddy bear. Wearing it at the office right now!

I thought they didn’t have Smarties in the USA. What are your smarties? Candy-coated chocolate?

My husband and I are going as Juno and Paulie Bleeker. I had everything I needed to be Juno, and we spent about $40 on running shorts, t-shirt, and sweatbands for my husband.

I just reused an old 80s costume. I was asked by a little kid if I was in my “jammies”. Clearly she wasn’t around in the 80s or the 90s for that matter.
