175 on 9 people, plus another 25 or so on Toys for Tots donations picked up on sale.

Update: I had to delete the dollar signs and write this additional sentence because I got a “your comment looks spammy” message.

Update 2: It’s STILL saying my comment looks spammy. Trying again.

Update 3: It’s STILL saying my comment looks spammy. Again. What gives?

Update 4: WTF? Why is your site marking everything as spam and rejecting comments?

    1. J. Money November 20, 2013 at 11:41 AM

Well that’s weird, sorry! Could be a glitch with our plugins – glad it finally worked :)

  2. HenryN November 20, 2013 at 6:19 AM

I plan on spending $100 on 5 people this year. Keeping it simple.

  3. Lucas November 20, 2013 at 6:27 AM

family of 5, + gift exchanges with 8 other people for a total of $600 :-) $350 for our family plus $250 on exchanges.

    Lucas

  4. Rosemary November 20, 2013 at 6:30 AM

    200 for 4 people + another 50 for myself

  5. Dan November 20, 2013 at 6:31 AM

We budgeted for $200 for our 2 children, $100 each or we might put it together for a large item that they can both use.

  6. Brian November 20, 2013 at 6:41 AM

Family of 5. $250 each, so $1250. I get a nice end of year bonus that cover these costs.

  7. hemi_8 November 20, 2013 at 6:45 AM

I’m not spending anything on “xmas”, but I will spend abou will spend $500 on about 6 people for Christmas!

  8. Chung November 20, 2013 at 6:47 AM

My budget is $500 for 6 people.

  9. Josh November 20, 2013 at 6:48 AM

I’m thinkin’ about $200 for the 3 people closest to me.

  10. Kellie November 20, 2013 at 6:56 AM

$500 for 7 people and 1 gift exchange (one of those people is my new granddaughter so making myself not go overboard lol). I typically allot $100 per son and $50 for any SO but usually end up running under budget depending on what the requests are for the year.

  11. Molly November 20, 2013 at 6:59 AM

I’m from a family that goes big for Christmas, and there’s no way around it without hurting feelings. My husband’s present will be $400, but I’ve been saving for it and owe him for skipping his birthday present while in school this year. We’ll spend another $400ish on our parents and the other close family I buy for.

  12. Aimee November 20, 2013 at 7:01 AM

About $200 for 21 people. This might sound “cheap”, but I’m making time-intensive gifts for most of them.

  13. Sheri November 20, 2013 at 7:03 AM

    2 adult sons ~$100 each
2 sets of parental units will vary, perhaps $50ish each set
BF — no idea, what do you get for a single guy who has the stuff he wants?
2-3 friend-types if I can think of right gift ~$20-25 eacdh
company gift exchange/white elephant – $20 (I love these, they are a blast!)

    Looks like around $400-500, depending.

  14. Sheri November 20, 2013 at 7:07 AM

    to Aimee:
The time involved in your gifts is emotionally invaluable. If you want to figure what they “timewise” cost you, put your time between 20 and 50 per hour worked depending on the difficulty and tediousness :) Gifts are never cheap, no matter their cost — if they are gifts you thought about for the recipient and you really think the recipient will like them.

  15. Jeffrey November 20, 2013 at 7:17 AM

I haven’t started buying yet, but I would estimate $500 divided unequally among 15 people.

  16. Nicole November 20, 2013 at 7:24 AM

We typically spend around $500-$600 each year for around 7 people.

  17. David K. November 20, 2013 at 7:28 AM

Honesty, around $200, excluding the SO.

  18. Corie November 20, 2013 at 7:30 AM

My husband and I put a $100 limit on gifts for each other. My siblings and I decided on not exchanging gifts this year since we went to a concert together over the summer. Not sure how much yet we’re going to spend on our parents – probably another $300 or so total. So looks like we’ll spend around $500 on gifts.

  19. Liz November 20, 2013 at 7:32 AM

Wow, this is embarassing, I am planning on spending about 800 this year. Some of this will be done using amazon gift cards that I have earned over the past few months and some will be donations to charity, but still a big number. It’s down from 1,000 last year, so progress right? This is for 11 people.

  20. Thomas S November 20, 2013 at 7:41 AM

around eight hundred for twenty one people. big families…

  21. James Lathrop November 20, 2013 at 7:41 AM

After last Christmas (barely scrapping by), we started budgeting for this Christmas in January. So we have $240 to spend on 8-10 people. Then for presents between me and my wife are planning $300. Yay for budgets!

  22. Steve November 20, 2013 at 7:43 AM

    600 dollars on 5 people

  23. Meghan November 20, 2013 at 7:45 AM

I’m planning on sending 1,000 on 8 people

  24. Brandy November 20, 2013 at 7:58 AM

We are buying for about 17 people between both families and would like to stay under $450.

  25. Renee s November 20, 2013 at 8:00 AM

my family doesn’t really do presents, but ive spent $75 on my bf and plan to spend about $100 on various friends. :)

  26. Liz November 20, 2013 at 8:03 AM

I will probably spend around $250 on immediate family, $200 on my boyfriend and another $200 on his family and about $100 on friends / others.

  27. Candy November 20, 2013 at 8:11 AM

    For 7 people around $500.

  28. Vicky S November 20, 2013 at 8:11 AM

I plan to spend a thousand dollars on seven people… phew!

  29. Stephanie November 20, 2013 at 8:14 AM

I think it will be about $430 on 8 people. The gift card would be an amazing help!

  30. Bret November 20, 2013 at 8:22 AM

I’ll spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,000 for about 12 people.

  31. graduateliving November 20, 2013 at 8:24 AM

If I don’t count the massive check I’ll be writing my parents to assist with an upcoming family vacation (they’re footing the bill, but I will contribute so I don’t feel like a leech), about $400 for 8-9 people.

  32. Jennifer November 20, 2013 at 8:28 AM

As little as possible. I’m on the hunt for sales and coupons.
One kid, two sets of parents, three nieces/nephew, four or five friends kids, and each other. Expecting $700-800 this year. Hubby likes to spend money

  33. Nicole D. November 20, 2013 at 8:38 AM

We’ll probably spend around $500. This includes gifts for each other, parents/inlaws, siblings, nieces, & a nephew.

  34. Alyssa November 20, 2013 at 8:42 AM

I plan on spending under $900 for approximately 12 people (mostly family). My three closest friends and I agreed to do a Christmas dinner together instead of gifts this year – should be a good time! #budgetsaresexy

  35. Sara November 20, 2013 at 8:45 AM

I plan on spending no more than $400…. which will be a stretch because I’m buying for 13 people (not including my coworkers, among whom I distribute homemade cookies every year).

But I’ll have to be tough on myself and resist the urge to use my credit cards: I’m saving up for my wedding next summer (!) and have absolutely no wiggle room in my budget.

  36. Kayla November 20, 2013 at 8:50 AM

Our budget is $440 for 16 people – approx 9 of those people will be receiving baked goods as their gift which I have factored into the budget.

  37. Well Heeled Blog November 20, 2013 at 8:54 AM

$100 – casual Chinese dinner for my parents and in-laws, and that’s it. We are not a big physical-gift family. For my husband and I, though, we are taking a vacation during Christmas, so that’s our gift to each other.

  38. Stefanie @ The Broke and Beautiful Life November 20, 2013 at 8:56 AM

Well I have to buy for seven immediate family members, the boyfriend, and whoever I get for secret santa this year out of my best friends. At $20/each that comes out to just under $200, plus probably a little extra for the boy so let’s say $250. I can totally handle that!

  39. Betsy November 20, 2013 at 9:02 AM

Zip. I don’t celebrate Christmas. I will go out for some holiday dinners though to celebrate the season and be with friends, not sure how much that will cost. Nothing fancy.

  40. Stefanie E. November 20, 2013 at 9:02 AM

I am spending a total of $40 on all my family/friends to include baking supplies and yarn. For the first time in my life am on disability (ughh!) so I am on even more of a budget than normal. Everyone is getting homemade sweets/treats and I am knitting a blanket for a friend with a new baby.

  41. Troy C. November 20, 2013 at 9:02 AM

We have $790 budgeted for 13 people. This includes gifts for my wife and myself, 1 son, 5 nephews, mother-in-law, gift exchange in my family, and a gift exchange in my wife’s family.

  42. Rachel November 20, 2013 at 9:02 AM

We will probably be spending about $700 for 9-10 people. A little higher than I would like, but my BF is really into gifting and is foreign to the concept of watching the christmas budget. Work in progress though! :-)

  43. Mark November 20, 2013 at 9:03 AM

My budget is $800 for 10 people. Thanks for the give away J. Money!

  44. Joanna November 20, 2013 at 9:04 AM

This christmas I plan to spend 300 dollars which includes wrapping and shipping costs for my whole family which is approximately 45 people.

  45. Jennifer November 20, 2013 at 9:08 AM

I usually spend about 500 on everything, including gifts, food and accessories- like pajamas… the tree, etc.

  46. Kristie November 20, 2013 at 9:09 AM

Since this is Budgets Are Sexy, I think you’d appreciate the fact that we spend very little money on gifts–well, kind of. We actually tap into our Discover card’s cash back reward for spending lots of money throughout the year. (Hmmmmm….lol.) If you pay your card balance in full each month, like we do, this reward program is awesome! We get hundreds of dollars in gift cards every year in the Fall, and we either give a gift card as a gift or shop for a more personal gift. We also give passes to Disneyland (cha-ching!) and cold hard cash to all of our children and my daughter’s spouse. Who doesn’t love the gift of money, right? And it’s easy. I like easy! Our holiday gifts this year will likely cost us around $5000-, which I guess isn’t that “sexy” after all.

  47. Jaime November 20, 2013 at 9:09 AM

I budgeted $500 for 16 people I think (some will be homemade gifts.)

  48. Jessica November 20, 2013 at 9:10 AM

My budget is about $1200 for 6 people (and two dogs). It would be a lot lower, but I couldn’t help but pre-order the Xbox one for the boyfriend on Amazon this morning. More than I would usually spend on a gift, but since he just cleaned out his “fun money” savings account to buy my ENGAGEMENT RING, I’d say he deserves it :D

  49. amber November 20, 2013 at 9:12 AM

I’m budgeting $400 for a family of 4 with one extended family member gift exchange as well.

  50. Celina November 20, 2013 at 9:12 AM

I plan to spend $0. Although once I get around my nieces and nephews I’ll probably end up taking them out for hot cocoa or something.

  51. saniel November 20, 2013 at 9:13 AM

$150 each family on each side gets 1 gift the kids can share ie board game. Plus $100 for my own kid but he’s only 4 and would be content with new books and 1or 2 toys. Thank you

  52. JulieDutch November 20, 2013 at 9:14 AM

I think I have about $250 budgeted for about 7 people. I’m trying to find some awesome deals though to make the most of the $$.

  53. Melanie November 20, 2013 at 9:14 AM

I have a total of 9 people I want to give holiday gifts to this year. I’m currently unemployed so I’m working with a $0 budget. Time to get super creative and think outside the [gift-giving] box!!

  54. Melody November 20, 2013 at 9:15 AM

I have a $250 limit and probably only buying for 5. My 4 nieces/nephews and a gift for my dog. :)

  55. Sarah R. November 20, 2013 at 9:17 AM

Have a special savings account to save up money year round, have a 4 family members and 3 friends to purchase gifts for, spending $600 total.

  56. Ashley November 20, 2013 at 9:20 AM

I’m trying to keep it under $250- that’s for 1 adult family member (we do secret santa, thank goodness), 2 nieces, the boyfriend, and 3 of my best friends!

  57. Angie November 20, 2013 at 9:22 AM

Maybe $100? Just my parents and my fiance. Not going too crazy with presents this year!

  58. Harry November 20, 2013 at 9:23 AM

We plan to spend about $1200 for 30 people (mostly kids).

  59. Colleen November 20, 2013 at 9:24 AM

$300 for 8 people. I am dog sitting a couple of weekends in November to cover my cost.

  60. Katie November 20, 2013 at 9:25 AM

    About $500 for 8 people

  61. andrew November 20, 2013 at 9:25 AM

$300 on four other family members, and $100 for my fiancee!

  62. Kali @CommonSenseMillennial November 20, 2013 at 9:26 AM

We’re trying to spend as little as possible this year by looking for deals and using coupons – our goal is to spend less than what we did last year (because we didn’t plan so well last Christmas!). Our goal is to come in at or under $500 for 10 people, though I am budgeting an extra $100 just in case (and for extras like bringing food to family gatherings, baking supplies to make cookies).

  63. Nikki November 20, 2013 at 9:26 AM

As little as possible, I’m going to try and do all homemade gifts this year. It’s only 4 people.

  64. Fern Miller (@Fernwise) November 20, 2013 at 9:27 AM

I’m getting gifts for 3 people (includes me). I’ll spend about $100. Books from a used book store. Clothes from Goodwill. One $25 gift certificate from taking surveys online.

  65. Adam November 20, 2013 at 9:28 AM

We’re holding back a bit this year, so we’re looking at around $400 for 8 people, plus around $50 for charitable giving.

  66. SuburbanFinance November 20, 2013 at 9:28 AM

I’ll end up buying for 5 people (my immediate family and fiance) and my budget is about $100/person – it should work out nicely!

  67. Jacob November 20, 2013 at 9:28 AM

I used Smartypig to save $1000 this year. It’s more than I originally wanted to save but I’m hoping to use a little extra on my wife.

We have 15 people to purchase for.

  68. Aaron L November 20, 2013 at 9:29 AM

I plan on spending about $750!!

  69. Cedes November 20, 2013 at 9:30 AM

I thinking my numbers are going to come in around $350/$400. My brother just got engaged and found out he’s gonna be a daddy. So I’m gonna spend a lot on him and his soon to be step kids (my soon to be step-nieces and nephew). The only other people I buy for are my parents. And they don’t need or ask for much. So some practical stuff and maybe some fun stuff and of course some holiday chocolate for them!

  70. Amanda Briggs de Lavini November 20, 2013 at 9:30 AM

    $1100.00 for us, woop woop

  71. Heather November 20, 2013 at 9:30 AM

I will probably be spending around $300 on 8 people (2 children and 6 adults)

  72. George November 20, 2013 at 9:30 AM

My budget is $1000.00 for four people. THis includes Santa’s list.

  73. Jay November 20, 2013 at 9:32 AM

Hoping to keep it under $200 for all my xmas gifts since I have a ton of graduate student loans to pay!

  74. RMF November 20, 2013 at 9:32 AM

Two hundred dollars for two people. I’m focusing on creativity rather than heavy spending.

  75. TeacHer November 20, 2013 at 9:32 AM

Between family, friends, work colleagues, etc. I’m going to be buying for about 10 people. I’m thinking it’ll cost be between $300 and $400….at least that’s what I’m budgeting for!

    1. J. Money November 20, 2013 at 11:43 AM

Don’t forget my present too – that’ll add an extra $200 on top ;)

  76. Danielle Pitt November 20, 2013 at 9:33 AM

The plan is $600 for 11 people.

  77. Emily Hornburg November 20, 2013 at 9:33 AM

I’ve already spent about $50 on my gift for my sister. Then we’re planning to go together on a big gift for my mom. (She wants a new camera! But nothing too fancy which is nice.) So I’m thinking that’ll be about another $50-$75 per person going in on the gift depending on what we get. My dad is pretty low-key so I’ll probably save money with him. Then I have a few friends I’m buying for as well. Although for them I’m seriously considering just buying all of them books. Because… you know…. I love books and most of my friends do too. I’ll estimate about $15 per book. Which means my total will be…. between $250-$300. Which isn’t bad.

  78. Jamie November 20, 2013 at 9:33 AM

$500 for 22 people..phew…most of the time I love having a big family, Christmas time is not one of them

  79. Melissa Wiley November 20, 2013 at 9:34 AM

My budget is $350 (spent $89.94 so far). I’m shopping for:

    Mom (done)
    Dad (done)
    Brother
    SIL
    Niece
    2 friends in England
White Elephant Gift Exchange with Friends
Gift to donate to Silent Auction at work to raise money for Veteran family in need

  80. InACents November 20, 2013 at 9:34 AM

We tend to stick to about $100-150 per gift basket that we put together for the parents and siblings. Kind of like Oprah’s Favorite Things, we find the best stuff that we really enjoyed from our travels all year and give it to everyone as a gift. This typically includes a night out with us throughout the year and all kinds of other various items.

  81. Jubilance November 20, 2013 at 9:37 AM

I have to shop for 5 main people, and maybe also get smaller gifts for a few other friends. Sadly I haven’t budgeted at all for this :-( I’m hoping to spend $300 max for all my gifts.

  82. Jason November 20, 2013 at 9:39 AM

$100 for 6, not including a camera I won that I am giving to 2 of those 6 people.

  83. Jan November 20, 2013 at 9:39 AM

$500 for 3 people (my parents and husband) I will be spending $200 for my parents and $300 for my husband. And I am baking cookies for everyone else.

  84. Raquel November 20, 2013 at 9:40 AM

Budget $1000 for about 50 people. These include coworkers, family, and friends. This averages about $20 a piece. Some will get something higher and some will be smaller. Typically my budget is higher but money is a bit tight this holiday season. I have a huge family and a ton of coworkers hence 50 people.

  85. Stephanie Phelps November 20, 2013 at 9:40 AM

We are spending $400.00 total on our four kids that is it! :)

  86. Sonja J November 20, 2013 at 9:40 AM

Using $25/month in Amazon gs from Swagbucks, plus free Shutterfly codes from My Coke Rewards, I’m hoping to keep my spending under $500 for parents, stepparents, siblings, etc.

  87. Jessica November 20, 2013 at 9:43 AM

So far I have a budget of $400 for six people (child and SO get the bulk of it). That’s what I could set aside after bills.

  88. Sam P November 20, 2013 at 9:43 AM

We will spend around $850. AAA memberships for older daughters, Raspberry Pi for younger daughter, olive oil for sisters, LLBean gifts for parents. Oh – and the mailman, hairdresser, 3 music teachers, etc. It all adds up!

  89. Clara November 20, 2013 at 9:44 AM

Amongst my friends, we started not getting Christmas presents a few years ago at my request. Instead, we focus on birthday presents. Might get my husband a $30-$40 gift

  90. Lyndsey November 20, 2013 at 9:45 AM

My budget for his year is $500 and will go towards my husband, my sister, my mom and a few friends. I’ve already got my list planned out for everything I intend to buy! Bring it on, holidays.

  91. Autumn November 20, 2013 at 9:45 AM

We plan to spend $250 on 12 people for Christmas.

  92. Neauxlah November 20, 2013 at 9:46 AM

I am spending a big fat whopping NOTHING this year. Our anniversary is so close to the holidays that we decided that we would not purchase gifts for each other.

  93. Tweet November 20, 2013 at 9:46 AM

    $200 for about 6 people…so…fingers crossed! Thanks!

  94. Dwayne P November 20, 2013 at 9:49 AM

Welp, it looks like I’ll be at the high end of the spectrum. If I had to calculate it all, we’d be right around $2500 or so for each other, our families (multiple parents and family), and 4 godchildren, plus 10 nieces and nephews, etc.. Thanks J. Money for making me see just how depressing that is lol

  95. Liz November 20, 2013 at 9:49 AM

Hmmm….probably around $750 on 7 people and another $50 or so on two pooches

  96. Kevin November 20, 2013 at 9:49 AM

My wife and I will probably spend less than $50 on each other and zero on our 18.5 week old — he already has all he could want and then the grandparents will be sure to spoil him. We focus on the meaning of the holiday and not the gifts. We run our finances so that we can buy things throughout the year rather than saying “Hey, buy this for me at Christmas.”

  97. Moon Kruska November 20, 2013 at 9:50 AM

We plan on about $400. This is just for my husband’s family – mom and dad, grandma, brother, sister in law and their 2 girls. My family lives in Hong Kong so we don’t get anything for my side.

Husband and I don’t buy gifts for each other for Christmas. We are so fortunate that if we need/want something we can just go get it anytime of the year (within reason, of course) so we don’t need a special time to give each other something. Plus like most American we have too much ‘stuff’ already!

  98. Alisha November 20, 2013 at 9:50 AM

$540 for 10 people. Family, friends and work. Thanks for the giveaway!!

  99. Alanna November 20, 2013 at 9:52 AM

Probably $150 for about 3 people

  100. Sweta November 20, 2013 at 9:52 AM

No more than $200 for 3 people.

  101. Megan H. November 20, 2013 at 9:56 AM

We will likely spend less than $300 for 8 people. We just had our first child and a number of our family members have tight budgets this holiday season, so if anything, we’ll get essentials for the baby at most using gift money from others and gift cards we still have, and smaller gifts for other people. I plan to give apple butter in decorated jars as presents to coworkers and friends. We prepared it last year and there’s no way we’ll eat it all, so better to give it away!

    1. Alyssa November 20, 2013 at 10:02 AM

Love the apple butter gift idea! Sounds delicious =)

  102. Aisha W. November 20, 2013 at 9:56 AM

My budget for this year is $500 which will be spent on my son, 2 nephews, 2 brothers, 2 SIL (sis n laws), my grandmother, my son’s father, Toys for Tots and the 4 children of a friend of mine that lost her job recently. I spent almost that amount on my son alone last year, but this year I discovered “Budgets are Sexy”, so I have definitely reigned in my spending. Thanks so much and all of you have a very Thankful Thanksgiving!!!!

  103. Mary November 20, 2013 at 9:57 AM

The BF and I have budgeted $1000 for this year. Right now we are thinking we will only spend about $700 of it though.

We buy/bought (most of our shopping is already done) for 8 nieces and nephews, 4 brothers and sisters, three parents, six grandparents, and one another. So the grand total is 23 people for approximately $700-$1000.

I know it seems like a lot, but we have huge families, and we saved for a long period of time to avoid going into debt for it!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

  104. Helen November 20, 2013 at 9:59 AM

I’m guessing we’ll spend about $200 for our family and closest friends– we make a lot of our gifts. :)

  105. Andrea Miller November 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM

I will spend around $300. Thanks for this giveaway…it would certainly go far in making this a dreamy Christmas for my son!

  106. Elizabeth November 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM

300 or so for 4 people and 1 dog! :) I need to get brainstorming on some small but thoughtful ideas.

  107. Mami2jcn November 20, 2013 at 10:02 AM

It’s going to be about $500 for my 3 kids.

  108. Will S. November 20, 2013 at 10:03 AM

Probably less than $100 on 3-5 people.

  109. Rebecca @ Stapler Confessions November 20, 2013 at 10:04 AM

$200 for my preschool son, my spouse, 9 nieces and nephews, 6 kids of friends, and stockings for 5 people. I pick up gifts all year when they’re 70% off. I’m almost done, too! I just have to pick up the stocking items, which I get at the national drugstores that have lots of freebies on Black Friday.

  110. Lindi November 20, 2013 at 10:06 AM

We aim for about $25 per person– we have a huge family– and then give homemade baked goods as well, most years.

  111. Chris Lynn November 20, 2013 at 10:07 AM

I have budgeted $300 to spend on seven people. If all goes well, I’ll actually “wrap things up” (awful pun, I know) closer to $250.

  112. Ariel November 20, 2013 at 10:12 AM

I don’t celebrate Christmas but I will be taking advantage of some Black Friday sales. I’m looking to spend 50 dollars on two people.

  113. Josie November 20, 2013 at 10:14 AM

I like getting my Dad and stepmom a large gift every year since we don’t see them often (opposite sides of the country). I’ll probably spend $120 on them, $50 on my boyfriend. I don’t buy gifts for anyone else, but can expect to spend $25 on wine to take to dinners or white elephant party gifts. So we’re looking at just around $200.

  114. Ryan November 20, 2013 at 10:17 AM

How much do you plan on spending on Xmas gifts this year?
    (And for how many people?)

There are about 8 people I have to buy Christmas presents for. My girlfriend and I will probably split 7 of them 50/50, but I obviously can’t go 50/50 on her present haha. We don’t spend too extravagently for the holidays and I’ve put money aside since the beginning of November to pay for my Christmas gifts as well.

    Family-$200.00
    Girlfriend-$100-$150.00

    Probably around $300.00-$350.00 total.

  115. Alexis November 20, 2013 at 10:17 AM

Nothing for Christmas, but I have spent about $350 on Chanukah presents for 5 people thus far. I didn’t get my hubby a gift because we splurged on a new TV.

  116. Paul D. November 20, 2013 at 10:18 AM

Will probably spend around $1500 on 15 people, ranging from direct family to close family friends….now pay up!

  117. Gina-Renee November 20, 2013 at 10:19 AM

I plan on just buying a new cookware set. This will enable me to cook at home and save money!!

  118. Ed November 20, 2013 at 10:19 AM

    ~$500 on 10 people

  119. Nesha C. November 20, 2013 at 10:21 AM

    3000 for about 17 people.

  120. Daniel November 20, 2013 at 10:22 AM

We’re doing about $300 for 6 people, myself, my wife, our daughter, and our three nephews. :) Plus we are hosting Christmas dinner this year so that’s adding to the total cost. We’re skipping buying for the other adults this year to save money.

  121. LeeAnna November 20, 2013 at 10:25 AM

I plan on spending eight hundred dollars for eleven people. This is less than last year where I spent over 1k, but for more people. I am trying to be more frugal this year and stick to our budget. I put one hundred dollars a month aside for Christmas, starting in January so even though we spend a lot of money, it’s all in cash. The days of charging our Christmas are long over.

  122. Laura November 20, 2013 at 10:25 AM

I plan on spending about $300 on six people. I already have a pretty good idea of what I’ll be getting for each person this year, so Christmas shopping shouldn’t be too hard this year.

  123. Cathy November 20, 2013 at 10:26 AM

About $1000, for 5 people. Christmas is a big gift giving holiday for my family. For birthdays and other things we dont do much. So this is the big sha-bang!

  124. jestjack November 20, 2013 at 10:27 AM

Would love to win..Will spend right around $2K “soup to nuts” on about 20 folks. Which will include but not be limited to spoiling g-children and spouses. $200 would e great…

  125. Sherrian C. November 20, 2013 at 10:29 AM

I am hoping to spend around $300 for Christmas this year. We usually have to keep it low for budgeting reasons, so winning $200 would be a big help!

  126. Kristen S. November 20, 2013 at 10:29 AM

We’re planning on spending about $400 on 9 people from our joint account. My in-laws didn’t really want much at all, though, so we spent only $73 on them both! I feel kind of bad about that but it’s really all they wanted. We’ll get my aunt’s family (4 people) a $50 gift card to… somewhere they eat, probably Red Lobster, since my aunt doesn’t cook. My brother wants to spend more than usual on my dad but my dad never uses anything we get him, so I’m hesitant to do that!

My husband and I are doing gifts to each other out of our own accounts. In theory we have a $100 limit but we both break that by $30 or so.

  127. Christina Cutting November 20, 2013 at 10:30 AM

For my entire life I have spent way too much at Christmas. My parents set me up with this vision of mounds of presents as the expectation for xmas. So if there aren’t mounds of presents I somehow feel disappointed. There are three people in our family and a pretty large extended family. I plan on making a number of presents and scoring deals where I can to get what I want as gifts. In the end I am hoping to spend $600 on 13 people! I have been lucky enough to find amazing steals on a few items for the baby – and he still doesn’t really understand xmas – so I plan on just wrapping a bunch of boxes and letting him play with the boxes and wrapping paper.

  128. Harris November 20, 2013 at 10:30 AM

    Probably ~$200 on 10 people.

  129. Amanda November 20, 2013 at 10:34 AM

I am doing gifts just for my mom and boyfriend this year and only spending 100 respectfully because they both are on board with me paying down my debts and my moms christmas present to me is giving me 350 to put towards my debt

  130. Wendy November 20, 2013 at 10:38 AM

About $600 for a family of five, but some of that covers “gifts” that they would need anyway, like clothes and shoes.

  131. Liz Alcantara November 20, 2013 at 10:40 AM

I plan to spend $300 on 7 people

  132. Marta November 20, 2013 at 10:40 AM

My budget is about $600. I’m buying for my kids, nieces/nephews, brothers and sisters, parents and in-laws. Total about 25 gifts.

  133. Kristen November 20, 2013 at 10:41 AM

Our budget is $500 for 9 people but half of that is in Amazon points we’ve earned throughout the year so strictly speaking, the cash-out-of-pocket budget is $250. Not added into that number is the amount spent on baking supplies to bake goodies for neighbors & co-workers which will be another $100.

  134. brian November 20, 2013 at 10:42 AM

planning to spend under $500 this year.. for everyone!

  135. Aaron Sanchez November 20, 2013 at 10:43 AM

1,000.00 on 7 people. Stuff is expensive these days.

  136. Robynn November 20, 2013 at 10:48 AM

Like a few others, I will be spending zero on xmas gifts. However we do have a few anniversaries this time of year and one is a big one (30 years!) So probably about 100 for that.

  137. Laura in ATL November 20, 2013 at 10:53 AM

WHOOO . . .what an awesome giveaway. I use RetailMeNot all the time.
    I plan to spend around $300 to $350 . . . I have a small family. This $200 would help Fantastically!

    Laura in ATL

  138. Lani Lopez November 20, 2013 at 10:59 AM

How much do you plan on spending on Xmas gifts this year?
    (And for how many people?)

I just became a home owner in August, then found out i wasnt sick just “pregnant” shortly after and now im bracing my financials for maternity leave in January 2014, So that leaves me with only spending on my 7yr old daughter and hubby. So my usual $1500 christmas budget for the whole family/inlaws just flew out the window and im trying to win the money to hold me over.. if not ill keep it under $300…

  139. Kevin Vesga November 20, 2013 at 11:11 AM

I plan to spend $40 for two people (my parents). Also $20 for myself during Black Friday as an early present. I’m a student so I don’t exactly have money to burn through.

  140. Janet West November 20, 2013 at 11:12 AM

I usually only spend for my 2 sons and my best friends. So only around 200.00. I like to give personal gifts, so some type of fun experience they can do with their friend or mate.

  141. Carl November 20, 2013 at 11:13 AM

I generally try to spend between 10 and 20 dollars on each person unless I see something that is just perfect for them. A wedding and a new nephew mean I have a couple more presents to buy this year bringing my total to 9 people. So between 90 and 180 dollars for this holiday season.

  142. Jen November 20, 2013 at 11:15 AM

I’m going to try to keep it under $200: “regular” gifts for 3 people, and stocking stuffers for 10 people.

  143. Lindsay November 20, 2013 at 11:16 AM

    $350 for 12 people.

  144. Katie Richards November 20, 2013 at 11:16 AM

buying for my family of 4 and will spend around 400.00. I plan on having a christmas planning session this weekend with my husband to decide what we will get with that money (and hoping we can actually come in under budget!!)

  145. Amanda K November 20, 2013 at 11:17 AM

My husband and I are both from large families; he’s the youngest of seven, and I’m the oldest of six. For my hubby’s side, we buy gifts for our 17 nieces and nephews instead of for his siblings and their spouses. Add in my mother-in-law, my mom, grandparents, my 5 siblings (no kids yet!), AND gifts for my hubby, I/we have about 28 people to shop for.

My husband gets a lot of things for free at work, and we’ve been looking for discounts for items year-round. With that being said, we’ll probably spend about $600 collectively on others, with most of that being for our moms. I’ll probably spend about $300 on him, which means *MY* part of our Christmas spending will be around $600.

    Thanks for the opportunity :)

  146. Erin November 20, 2013 at 11:18 AM

I expect to spend $450, maybe $500. Small immediate family, plus two extended family gift exchanges, and gifts for my cousins, since they’re too young to do the gift exchange. The extra $50 is because I will probably go a little over budget with my nieces.

  147. Mandy November 20, 2013 at 11:18 AM

My husband and I have saved approximately $400 for Christmas for all of our family and friends, but there’s no telling how much we will actually spend (under the $400 saved). There are between 10 and 15 people we will be shopping for. We might give some gifts to families rather than individuals.

  148. SavvyFinancialLatina November 20, 2013 at 11:19 AM

We’re probably going to spend $600 on Christmas gifts on 9 people. We budget for $50 per person in the family, plus some small gifts for friends, and gifts to ourselves. Sometimes it’s less because I shop year round for some items, so I don’t have to buy them at full price.

  149. Gabriela F November 20, 2013 at 11:19 AM

I admire all of your posts, people. Honestly, we will likely end up spending over $700 for 8 people when all is said and done. Sad, but true.

  150. Beth November 20, 2013 at 11:22 AM

    I think about $200 for 7 people.

  151. Jacque November 20, 2013 at 11:23 AM

We will be spending ~$500 on 17 people from our family account:

$200 for 10 nieces and nephews
    $200 on our 5 parents
$100 on 2 siblings (we draw for names amongst 6 siblings/spouses and do a nicer gift)

We also have gifts that we individually purchase from our allowance accounts for each other and our respective close friends:

    $50 for each other
    $20 per friend

We also budget in ~$50 for holiday cards, postage and shipping.

  152. Kristen November 20, 2013 at 11:26 AM

I no longer exchange gifts with my immediate family. I only buy gifts for my school age nieces & nephews, so $150-200 on 6 people.

  153. Katie November 20, 2013 at 11:30 AM

We are keeping it very simple this Christmas due to job changes. We will probably spend $200 total for our whole family which is about 15 people total. We’re planning and giving a lot of homemade gifts and treats and just enjoying time spent together!

  154. AC November 20, 2013 at 11:30 AM

Probably around 200 for two people.

  155. Norman November 20, 2013 at 11:31 AM

I plan on spending about $350 on 9 people.

  156. This Life On Purpose November 20, 2013 at 11:36 AM

We are planning on spending $250 on gifts, not including each other. That’s for 7 people. For our own gifts we are going to do something like a weekend get-away or a nice date night instead of exchanging gifts. So maybe another $150 for that, or more if we take a trip.

  157. Dzmitry November 20, 2013 at 11:36 AM

I am planning on spending about $100 on 5 or 6 people. I just recently purchased a dehydrator, so some of the gifts will be dried foods and ingredients!

  158. Miriam November 20, 2013 at 11:36 AM

We are spending 500.00 for 15 people.

  159. Adrien November 20, 2013 at 11:38 AM

We plan on spending about $450 for our family of 4 (us and 2 kids) including small things in the stockings and presents under the tree.

  160. Dot November 20, 2013 at 11:41 AM

About $50 for one person. Doing secret Santa with a group of friends. Also will be out of the country for Christmas so didn’t plan on purchasing gifts for others since we will be together and spending money on the trip.

  161. Andrew Elizondo November 20, 2013 at 11:42 AM

    About $600 for 11 people

  162. Talia November 20, 2013 at 11:42 AM

I plan on spending no more than $300 and I am shopping for 6 – 8 people. I am keeping it very very simple this year!

  163. The Warrior November 20, 2013 at 11:43 AM

Looking to spend around 300. Have to get gifts for about 8. Now some of those are grandparents who are just getting a picture with a frame so that won’t be much.

We aren’t going all out and everyone is on the same page. We are sharing Christmas together so that is an expense but worth the experience.

  164. Yana November 20, 2013 at 11:47 AM

How much do you plan on spending on Xmas gifts this year? – I have no plans to buy Xmas gifts. If I do come across something fabulous, there are 6 people I keep in mind most of the time :)

  165. Erin @ Red Debted Stepchild November 20, 2013 at 11:50 AM

$0 on traditional gifts. Instead, I am treating people to dinner out — my mom’s side (4 people) and then my dad’s side (2 people). It will probably cost $150ish.

Steve and I don’t exchange gifts, we just spend a lot of time together all year long :)

  166. FrugalTeacher November 20, 2013 at 11:53 AM

I plan on spending a grand total of $200 (though I’ve budgeted for $250) on about 7 people.

  167. Joyatee November 20, 2013 at 11:59 AM

My budget is $20 for 10 people–I’m making handmade gifts. I already own everything I’m using to make the gifts. Thanks for the giveaway!!

  168. Mel November 20, 2013 at 11:59 AM

I plan on spending $300 on 8 – 10 people. We are planning a couple of ‘couple gifts’, so I’m hoping that will keep it down. Plus, we only buy one small item for the kids (4 and 6) because our parents think “Please don’t go overboard” means something different than I do. :)

  169. Sarah Fowler November 20, 2013 at 12:03 PM

I’m going to spend about $200 on 15 people. There will definitely be homemade gifts involved!

  170. Dahlbie26 November 20, 2013 at 12:04 PM

I plan on spending about $150 for Christmas presents this year on 8 people (parents, sister, niece, nephew, boyfriend, sister’s boyfriend and his kid).

So far I’ve spent $20 on mainly stocking stuffers. Still need to find actual gifts for 7 out of the 8.

  171. Kelly November 20, 2013 at 12:08 PM

2 sets of parents, my brother, a handful of friends, some of my husband’s extended family… planning to spend about $750. We sold our iPhones when we got our new ones and were able to get back nearly what we spent on them, so that $375 will subsidize about half of our Christmas spending!

By the way – what other item (especially an electronic!) can you use every day for years and then sell it, receiving 85-95% of what you originally paid?! SUCH a good deal.

  172. Paula November 20, 2013 at 12:11 PM

I’m planning to spend $650 for 12 people

  173. mollyjade November 20, 2013 at 12:16 PM

$20. Our immediate family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, but husband’s extended family does a family gift exchange with a $20 limit. We’ll probably get a small Chanukah gift for our niece and nephew, too. We’re thinking a Highlights subscription.

  174. Della November 20, 2013 at 12:18 PM

I am going to sell my hair to buy a wristwatch for my husband. I am not expecting a comb in return…

  175. Andrew K. November 20, 2013 at 12:18 PM

I’m planning to spend around $200 for 5 people. Hopefully I can find some great presents for less!

  176. Jennie November 20, 2013 at 12:27 PM

$500 for our immediate family of 4, several parents, and several children of extended family.

  177. Heather November 20, 2013 at 12:28 PM

A few hundred on 7-8 people. I know that’s vague, but I’ve picked up little things on sale throughout the year and I don’t know what that totals. I’ll spend probably another $200 or so between now and Christmas.

  178. Brigid November 20, 2013 at 12:32 PM

Let’s see…gifts for 8 people. Probably about $500. And some home made knit hats for all the new babies :)

  179. Ben @ The Wealth Gospel November 20, 2013 at 12:36 PM

Our budget is about $200 for 9 people!

  180. Patrick November 20, 2013 at 12:38 PM

$400 for 8 people (Immediate family of 5, 1 for an extended family gift exchange, and 2 other relatives on the other side of the family).

  181. Lauren November 20, 2013 at 12:38 PM

In trying to be super frugal this year, I have a budget of $400 for 8 people.

  182. Katrina November 20, 2013 at 12:43 PM

I plan on spending $300 for 2 kids, my husband, and our parents.

  183. ON November 20, 2013 at 12:44 PM

$200 from a Visa Gift Card. (10 poeple?)

  184. Autumn November 20, 2013 at 12:47 PM

This year I’m just buying for my sweetie and our dogs. He wants a canoe for Christmas however, so I’m probably looking at about $500 for one and $100 for a couple canines.

  185. Tony November 20, 2013 at 12:47 PM

I’ve got 7 people to get gifts for. The total will probably be about $500.

  186. Jonathan November 20, 2013 at 12:59 PM

We were just married this year so the wife and I have spent enough on ourselves. We’ll just buy gifts for close family and our 2 year old son. 200 dollars sounds about right….

  187. Sarah W November 20, 2013 at 1:03 PM

I have $120 in my holiday budget to get gifts for 3 little ones, an inexpensive White Elephant gift, and for any holiday parties that involve bringing food or drink ;)

  188. Kat Reag November 20, 2013 at 1:05 PM

I plan on keeping to a budget of $500 this year. This includes presents for my mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, my two nephews, and the boyfriend. I am always super excited to show everyone what I picked out for them (and unfortunately have a bad habit of telling them what it is before they open it :))

I am on a strict budget and will be credit card debt free by the end of the year! But I like to splurge a little for other people around the holidays :)

  189. Kathy November 20, 2013 at 1:18 PM

We had a very good year. We’ll probably spend 5 thousand on 5 people. But don’t hate us, we did no vacation this year and no birthday gifts. We’ve always gone big at Christmas.

  190. MoonsgirlAllie November 20, 2013 at 1:21 PM

Let’s hope my best laid plans actually turn out. For about 20 people, I’m planning on $800. My new nephew will only be 7 months old by xmas time so shouldn’t be too much. My remaining sibs and I are helping out a navy family(they don’t know it yet!) who helped escort my big brother home for the last time. So, that’ll probably be another few hundred just to help out. Thanks for the great blog posts by the way! Helps make my day!

  191. Tom November 20, 2013 at 1:22 PM

I don’t know how much I plan on spending on Christmas. But If I win, probably $200.

  192. jenna November 20, 2013 at 1:24 PM

planning around 1,000 for about 10 people…I save and budget each month for the gift category of my budget so it’s all taken care of already.

  193. Francisco Rodriguez November 20, 2013 at 1:24 PM

Well if i won this giveaway id spend about $200 on Christmas lol. If not I still plan on keeping it between $100-$200

  194. Jenlarson79 November 20, 2013 at 1:25 PM

Wow! I love seeing all of the different comments…it really makes me realize how crazy my family is (I’ve always thought so, but this verifies it!)
Our Christmas list includes gifts for 27 people. (and that’s not counting our own 2 kids) My husband and I both come from divorced parents, who have re-married (twice), so we have a total of 12 siblings (halfs/steps, etc). Over the last several years, we’ve implemented not buying gifts for siblings, but we’ve got lots of nephews and nieces, three sets of parents and 3 sets of grandparents! We’ve got $1000 budgeted for this year, and will spend about $100 on each of our kids, and send small gifts with them for their teachers. We love having lots of family, but xmas time gets a little ridiculous!

  195. Alex November 20, 2013 at 1:27 PM

Christmas = the worst. Same old songs, same annoying commercials. The requirement to buy new things instead of even better/more used items for the same $. We’ll probably spend about $600 for 8 people each year until I can convert the family members to either accept hugs as presents or my anti-consumerist frugality as a lifestyle…

It could take a while… Bah humbug.

  196. Kylee November 20, 2013 at 1:30 PM

Probably around $500 for 4 people?

Not really sure. We’re having a baby in March, so possibly should dial that back a little!

  197. Philip November 20, 2013 at 1:33 PM

Probably spending close to $5-600 for a total of 10 people. When put together it looks worse than I thought… oops.

  198. Angella November 20, 2013 at 1:39 PM

We usually budget $300 for everyone, that’s for seven people, and we do not include ourselves. This year though, it’ll be zero. Just got told to file unemployment, so it’s a no spend holiday season! :)

  199. lori November 20, 2013 at 1:40 PM

i will spend about $200 on 6 people.

  200. Ellie November 20, 2013 at 1:42 PM

I plan on spending under $500. I don’t usually budget for Christmas, but I use the extra money I have after bills and savings to shop. The $500 amount is about what I’ve been spending each of the last 3 years.

    1. Ellie November 20, 2013 at 1:44 PM

      That’s $500 for about about 8 people.

  201. Jessie C. November 20, 2013 at 1:44 PM

I am hoping $700 for eight people this year.

  202. Anna November 20, 2013 at 1:48 PM

I would rather buy nice gifts for the people very closest to me, than buy cheaper gifts for all my friends and family. I’m planning on spending about 400 for 3 people.

  203. Betsy November 20, 2013 at 1:51 PM

My goal is $300 for 8 people.

  204. Kumi November 20, 2013 at 1:54 PM

$200 includes some swap gifts for the family party, my daughter, husband and a couple of my friends.

  205. Nicole November 20, 2013 at 2:17 PM

Hmmm.. My goal is to not go over $500 but I always manage to go over my budget.

    4 adults = 300
    4 kids = 200

  206. Emily @ evolvingPF November 20, 2013 at 2:22 PM

Last year we spent less than $400 for a few tens of people… 6 from our previous nuclear families and bunches of extended family. I want to spend even less this year with more homemade gifts.

  207. Travis November 20, 2013 at 2:24 PM

$1000… Lot’s of family that loves to spend.

  208. Melissa November 20, 2013 at 2:25 PM

I’ll spend around $600 (which I save throughout the year in small increments with each paycheck). I spend most of it on my immediate family (2 parents, 2 siblings), and the rest on extended family members, and friends/bosses. Total number of people is probably 15.

  209. Micki November 20, 2013 at 2:44 PM

I plan on spending exactly $189.72 on an small entertainment unit for my uncle. This is the year of giving and I thought this would be another great gift for him. Heck, I donated my kidney to him in March so why not spoil him again :-). Thanks!

    1. Another Sarah R. November 20, 2013 at 4:55 PM

Micki for the win!!!! You are an all-star. Enjoy the holidays with your Uncle.

      1. Micki November 20, 2013 at 5:52 PM

Thank you Sarah. Fingers crossed about winning but I’m just thankful :-)

  210. jennie November 20, 2013 at 2:47 PM

I have projected 1300 for 19 people, but trying like crazy to come in under that!

  211. Christina November 20, 2013 at 2:49 PM

I’m going to try to stick to a budget of $1000 divided roughly equally amongst five people.

  212. Heather Jones November 20, 2013 at 3:03 PM

I start buying Christmas gifts early, so that I am not in a hurry to do it last minute. I will spend roughly 400.00-500.00 this year. The total number of people that I am buying for is 20.

  213. Angela Y November 20, 2013 at 3:06 PM

We don’t echange gift on Christmas, but New Years, so I take advantage of the after Christmas discounts. For about 10 people, my budget is $150. We only do small gifts. It’s the thought that counts :)

  214. Kerrie November 20, 2013 at 3:07 PM

$500. Half is that was a trampoline for our kids though; buying for immediate family of four and extended family of 14 (one side does kids only :) )

  215. One Frugal Girl November 20, 2013 at 3:17 PM

I’d like to stay within $300 for 8 people.

  216. moira K. November 20, 2013 at 3:23 PM

I am currently trying to get out of debt right now but I have set aside $450 for 6 people.

  217. Jeff November 20, 2013 at 3:38 PM

$600 on 10 people. We are already done.

  218. Bethany November 20, 2013 at 3:49 PM

Because we are in the wedding planning process, we are trying to budget $300 on 10 people. Although it has been super challenging, it has been so much fun hunting for bargain gifts that don’t look like $15 dollars!. We have been going through clearance racks at every store, hitting up thrift shops, and groupon-ing like crazy!

  219. liliane November 20, 2013 at 3:53 PM

    $1450 I know it’s a lot but each child gets $300, I have 4 children=$1200
5 other family members get $50 gift =$250

Have been saving all year for Christmas, nothing on credit

  220. Laura November 20, 2013 at 3:57 PM

Roughly $550 on 19 people, which doesn’t include things already purchased, credit card rewards I’ll be cashing in or a present for my husband. Oy vey.

  221. Anna November 20, 2013 at 4:01 PM

I’ve budged $300 this year, which covers 13 people and some giving.

  222. Slinky November 20, 2013 at 4:03 PM

This year I’m looking at approximately $370 for 7 people. That’s $50/each into college funds for nieces and nephew, and approximately $130 for my husband’s gift, $15 & $25 for two people from family gift exchange. Gifts for everyone are already decided on, so this is pretty accurate.

  223. Shane November 20, 2013 at 4:05 PM

It will probably be about $400 for 8 people, unless a White Elephant party comes up.

  224. Christine @ ThePursuitofGreen November 20, 2013 at 4:13 PM

Thanks for hosting this giveaway! I love retailmenot! It’s the first place I go to when I need a coupon.

Anyway…for this year I have about 30 people on my list and will spend about 600 dollars…that’s just an estimate too! There are some big ticket items in there though like a pc. Yeah…long list, but I have a big family.

  225. Chimomwriter November 20, 2013 at 4:23 PM

Between the kids, extended family, and a few close friends, I’ll be shopping for about 12 people. About $700… as long as I stay away from impulse buys. Sigh.

  226. Bryan November 20, 2013 at 4:25 PM

I plan on spending $150 on 3 people this year

  227. jackie y November 20, 2013 at 4:32 PM

    50 for 3 people

  228. Darice Rene November 20, 2013 at 4:32 PM

I’m planning to spend no more than $500 and I have about 6 people to shop for. Thanks!

  229. Kelli November 20, 2013 at 4:36 PM

Last year my family simplified Christmas and we all bought gifts for pets and children, but the adults drew names and we only bought for that one adult and imposed a spending limit of $75 for the person whose name you chose. It REALLY pared things down and saved money, time, stress, etc. We will probably do that again this year, so I will probably spend $300 or less for eight beings. :)

  230. Rhonda Williams November 20, 2013 at 4:38 PM

I plan to spend $300 for 6 people, my mother (I think it’s the law right?), four God children (no kids of my own) and one nephew (coolest kid on the planet). It will be pretty tight but I’ll waive my magic bargain shopper wand and make it happen.

  231. Alycia November 20, 2013 at 4:44 PM

$500 for around 7 people and a few Yankee swaps. Being Santa isn’t cheap ;) the $200 sure would make a dent!!

  232. heather November 20, 2013 at 4:46 PM

I am spending $100.00 on three people this year so I sure could use this win – times are tough out here.

  233. Kate November 20, 2013 at 4:46 PM

I’ll spend around $300 for seven people–parents, 2 siblings, 2 grandparents, and 1 close friend…and also my dog.

  234. Tracy November 20, 2013 at 4:52 PM

$1200 for 11 people. $250 for each daughter (2). I always come in under budget but I like the round # of $100 saved every month January – December

  235. Another Sarah R. November 20, 2013 at 4:52 PM

I am so impressed with your reader’s frugality! We will spend about $350 on gifts 9 people (split unevenly), plus another $700 for a 4-day trip (leaving on Christmas day). The trip will be off-set by a cash present our parent’s give us every year (God bless them), and we will end up covering exactly half of it. Sounds like a lot up front, so one thing I do every year is eat all the way through our pantry/freezer and buy minimal groceries through the month’s of November and December. Just saving $25-50 a week helps out a lot and makes the holidays less stressful. Plus, it feels good to really go through our cupboards/fridge and clean everything out. No more freezer burned meat taking up space. Happy holidays!

  236. Brenda M November 20, 2013 at 4:58 PM

8 People: my two sons, boyfriend and mom, sister, 3 nieces and nephews. Possibly around $300 if I can catch good deals and find coupons!

  237. Kristen November 20, 2013 at 5:01 PM

I typically try to keep it under $50 per person. Thankfully right now I only have my parents, sister, and brother in law to buy for! My girlfriends from college and I always get together and we each purchase a Christmas ornament that we then exchange white elephant style. It’s been a great tradition that saves us money and gives us a chance to get together every year! :)

  238. julie November 20, 2013 at 5:04 PM

We used to spend about $1500 for a huge amount of people, but we are cutting way back this year. About $200 on each of our 2 kids, $250 for 6 nieces and nephews and $200 donated to kids in need at the school I teach at. So that puts us at $850 even with cutting back. UGHHH!
You would be proud though. I went to Rite Aid last week and purchased $150 worth of gift card and earned $30 in ups. So I donated the 150 in cards the other 50 in cash and the 30 I earned in ups. That turned my $200 donation into $230.
My parents also donated to my school. We decided to do this instead of exchanging with each other. It is a much better way to go as we really don’t need anything but some of my students have nothing. My parents also helping the school still feels like a gift to me. It is so exciting to see them wearing the new clothes they received when returning after break!

  239. Katy November 20, 2013 at 5:12 PM

Fiance and I are spending a total of about $400 on 12 people (and stockings!). Wow, that kind of looks like a lot now that I look at it. But we like to spoil them!

  240. Dave November 20, 2013 at 5:13 PM

Hopefully not more than $100 on my wife and some close friends. If we lose an income in December, a lot less.

  241. Rebecca November 20, 2013 at 5:13 PM

    $300.00 for 9 people.

  242. Brandy November 20, 2013 at 5:15 PM

I plan on spending about $1000 on 15 people.

  243. Meredith November 20, 2013 at 5:16 PM

Oooh, good question. Trying not to spend too much – I’ll be traveling over Christmas. Maybe $200-$300?

  244. Salome November 20, 2013 at 5:25 PM

This year, my SO and I are planning on spending less then $50/person for 6 people…. this money would be AWESOME! :)

  245. dpham November 20, 2013 at 5:25 PM

I plan to spend $200 for family (about 20 people) and $100 for very close friends (about 4 people). I’m pretty good at picking up deals throughout the year, so this works out very easily.

  246. Afarrell November 20, 2013 at 5:43 PM

I plan on spending about $200 for 5 ppl

  247. Financial Black Sheep November 20, 2013 at 5:47 PM

$100 at the most. I don’t have the money for Christmas this year. Moving, school, and not being able to donate plasma sucked me dry.

  248. Kerwin November 20, 2013 at 6:01 PM

Technically we don’t have anything budgeted for gifts for anybody. We have about $150 budgeted for a Christmas tree, new lights and some new ornaments.

  249. Christina November 20, 2013 at 6:07 PM

8 people and $400. Will probably get the 2 cats something too because I am crazy and of course they will need a present!

  250. Joseph November 20, 2013 at 6:16 PM

Gifts for wife and daughter. Trying to keep it under $100 but an extra $200 would help! ;)

  251. Deb November 20, 2013 at 6:16 PM

Honestly, unless we get a job (or jobs) between now and Christmas, I think my gift buying for the season is done. I’ve spent about $100 for 3 people… well, 4 if you count the little gift I got myself way back when but am waiting to reveal until the two similar items I got for others are opened. And most of that money is for gifts for my toddler. BUT, I also used approximately $80 worth of rewards toward gifts too (mostly for my daughter, too).

  252. Nicole November 20, 2013 at 6:23 PM

I plan on spending approximately $600 for 8 people. However, I have a feeling this number will go up as my brother and I agreed to split the costs of our parents Christmas presents (tickets to an outdoor hockey game) and it doesn’t look like he’ll be paying me back anytime soon so I’ll just eat his half.

  253. Rachel November 20, 2013 at 6:32 PM

I have already started. I have a total of 16 people to buy for. I have spent $33 on 6 people so far. And I plan to spend less than $80 on the remainder. This money would help though :) Two full time students, with only one full time income, makes things challenging to spend more.

  254. rt November 20, 2013 at 6:34 PM

    Insert witty comment here

  255. Micro November 20, 2013 at 6:35 PM

Wow, that took forever to scroll down to the end. $500 is what I have budgeted this year for about 8 different people.

  256. AF November 20, 2013 at 6:36 PM

About $1000 on 25 people. This is for my husband and me. The $200 would be a HUGE help.

  257. Mary November 20, 2013 at 6:46 PM

My plan is to shell out $100 on my parents and four brothers. Since I’m planning to make a few things myself and they don’t expect much from a broke college student, it should work out okay.

  258. Rachel November 20, 2013 at 7:02 PM

I plan on spending no more than 500 dollars on a total of 9 people.

  259. E-money November 20, 2013 at 7:10 PM

$453.25. We budgeted $500 for it and are now done shopping.

  260. Brian November 20, 2013 at 7:11 PM

We plan on spending 500 dollars for about 5 people

    Thanks for the giveaway

  261. Kathy November 20, 2013 at 7:22 PM

I want to spend about $200 on 18 people. I’m reeeeaaaally trying to keep my spending to about $10 per person. For some it will work, for others it won’t & I’ll end up spending more.

So far I’ve spent $3 each on 5 people….so, I’m a bit ahead right there.

  262. Mel November 20, 2013 at 7:38 PM

    About $600 for 8 people.

  263. thedubya November 20, 2013 at 7:40 PM

probably about $100 on 3 people. should be fairly lean

  264. Angela November 20, 2013 at 7:57 PM

    $250 for 20 people. :) I’m thrifty.

  265. awa November 20, 2013 at 7:58 PM

I will be spending $500 for 10 people, so $50 per head.

  266. Lynn M. November 20, 2013 at 8:20 PM

    $300-400 on 13 people

  267. Dave November 20, 2013 at 8:22 PM

    $250 for 6 people.

  268. Joshua C November 20, 2013 at 8:39 PM

About $750 for 12-15 people! Whatever we don’t use will be put towards our debt!

  269. Brian November 20, 2013 at 8:39 PM

I need all the help I can get.

Budgeted for $900. Buying for 21 people.

    Thanks for the chance!

  270. Kim@Eyesonthedollar November 20, 2013 at 9:00 PM

$30 each for 4 nieces and nephews. $200 for husband. I didn’t want to buy any other adults gifts, but hubby insists on $50 for his parents. Maybe $20 for our awesome neighbors. Everyone else in my family gets our presence for their present.

    1. Kim@Eyesonthedollar November 20, 2013 at 9:02 PM

Shoot, forgot our kid. She already said that gifts from Santa are the only ones we don’t have to pay money for. So much 6 year old wisdom, but we’ll probably spend $100 on her, $200 if we decide to get the new bike, but that one might wait until b-day.

  271. Jim November 20, 2013 at 9:07 PM

I have a budget of $900. Mostly for our two children, but also about 10 other people. $200 would help a lot.

  272. Elisabeth November 20, 2013 at 9:35 PM

I plan on spending $300 on 15 people.

  273. Alexandra November 20, 2013 at 9:37 PM

I plan to spend $1,000, 4 people. Including a Christmas party.

  274. Chris G November 20, 2013 at 9:50 PM

Our budget is about $500 for 8 people…love your blog!!

  275. Priscilla November 20, 2013 at 9:55 PM

I typically spend about $600 on Christmas gifts. This covers the fam, which is about 4 people.

  276. Dee N November 20, 2013 at 10:06 PM

We budget about $300.00 for 14 people.

  277. R Connelly November 20, 2013 at 10:36 PM

I will spend $100 dollars on 5 people.

  278. Jessica Green November 20, 2013 at 10:50 PM

$150 on 5 people, that’s our lowest christmas budget yet but determined to stick to it!

  279. Stacey H. November 20, 2013 at 11:26 PM

The plan is to spend $500 on 15 people. Wish me luck

  280. Meigan November 20, 2013 at 11:28 PM

I’ve saved up $455 in my employee savings account, which I use as a “Christmas Club” sort of savings.

I plan to spend it on 7 people, well, 8 if you include me! I always have to get myself a lil’ somethin’!

  281. D November 20, 2013 at 11:28 PM

Probably about 300 for 5 people.

  282. Rusty November 20, 2013 at 11:30 PM

    I’m spending 350.00 for 7 people.

  283. Single Ma November 20, 2013 at 11:46 PM

I plan to spend about $500 on 8 people, and maybe another $100 on small gifts for co-workers, neighbors, etc.

  284. Caitlin November 21, 2013 at 12:04 AM

Budgeting $300 for 11 people… 4 of which are $15 limits per gift and the rest is for our son, my parents, in-laws and us

  285. Chad November 21, 2013 at 12:08 AM

Looking to spend about $100 on my son since it is his first Christmas and around $200 on everyone else. I will be hosting a holiday party for my work team so that will set me back about $200 as well.

  286. Ramiro Nava November 21, 2013 at 12:13 AM

    $0 on one person

  287. Brandi November 21, 2013 at 12:31 AM

I plan to spend $200 on the adults, $100 on the kids, plus a gift to the 529 for my new nephew.

  288. Melissa November 21, 2013 at 12:43 AM

I’m trying to keep it below $400 for 8 people

  289. K November 21, 2013 at 1:14 AM

I plan on spending $100 on 5 people.

  290. Lynda November 21, 2013 at 1:46 AM

i plan to spend no more than 100 on 3 kids and a white elephant party, and no more than 200 on 4 adults

  291. Donna Freedman November 21, 2013 at 2:17 AM

Due to my recent job change I’m spending practically nothing for Christmas. Instead, I’m cashing in a bunch of rewards programs. I think I’ve spent less than $10 total out of pocket for 12 people.

  292. Shane C November 21, 2013 at 2:19 AM

Will probably spend around $200 on my partner, $50 on my dog (Yes, he’s spoiled rotten and wouldn’t have It any other way! :D), and roughly about $100 or so on my parents and sisters. Were keeping It much more simpler this year and not trying to overspend on gifts for each other as we have years past.

  293. Matt November 21, 2013 at 2:39 AM

Probably $750-$1k. Christmas is the one time of year my frugality goes a bit out the window. Yes, I’m a giant sap for the consumer holiday. :)

  294. Marilyn November 21, 2013 at 2:40 AM

Probably around $50 for 5 people. I am a poor college student, so i am looking into gifts I can make.

  295. Stephanie Hicks November 21, 2013 at 2:53 AM

This year, I spent (yup, I’m done) $923.50 on one person…my son. He has wanted a computer for so long and we’ve been putting it off because we just didn’t think he needed one. We figured as he’s in 8th grade and already taking two high school classes that it was probably time. We don’t normally spend that much on him (not even close!) for Christmas, but this is his combo Christmas/birthday/8th grade grad gift. We’ve been putting away since January, as we do every year, so we were ready for it.

  296. Corinne November 21, 2013 at 3:24 AM

$100 – $50 for my mother and $50 for the people in my office.

  297. ashley November 21, 2013 at 3:57 AM

maybe $60 plus all the gift cards I have for 6-8 people

  298. Alfonso November 21, 2013 at 4:09 AM

Family of two, I will be spending $500 on my wife present.

  299. Dee coy November 21, 2013 at 6:37 AM

$500 for 20 people. Kids r grown so we buy for grand kids and special people.

  300. joosoo kim November 21, 2013 at 6:48 AM

This is very tight with us financially I mean. Me launching on a new career after staying at home with kids for 10 years so the initial investment was taken us back a bit. I am planning to spend $100 for my 3 kids plus husband and another $50 for a family member who we lotto to give a xmas gift.

  301. Samantha November 21, 2013 at 8:13 AM

We’re spending about $300 on 15 people. This is accomplished mostly through tins of homemade treats and hand carved wooden toys and jewelry boxes. Which is then balanced out with gift cards to folks we don’t even know very well.

  302. Carson November 21, 2013 at 8:27 AM

    $300 for 4 people here

  303. Kristyn November 21, 2013 at 8:41 AM

For my immediate family (4 adults and 1 child), I am budgeting $400.

  304. Michelle November 21, 2013 at 9:45 AM

    Budgeting $500 for 7 people.

  305. Tina M. November 21, 2013 at 10:02 AM

$600 for our family of 6.

  306. Ted November 21, 2013 at 10:02 AM

The wife and I usually don’t exchange gifts, but I am getting her a prenatal massage this year. We only buy gifts for the kids in the family so 5 nieces and nephews plus a message will most likely set me back about $175.

  307. Jaemi Bean November 21, 2013 at 10:43 AM

About 500.00.. My two kids get presents, everyone else gets cash and Giftcards. Ususally about 150.00 Per Child. 8 people total.

Hoping to win the Card to finish up shopping!

  308. Kelsey November 21, 2013 at 10:49 AM

I always only want to spend $200-$300 but end up spending $600-$700. I buy gifts for 7-12 people.

  309. kristin November 21, 2013 at 10:52 AM

    probably $750-1000, for family.

  310. Alison November 21, 2013 at 10:55 AM

We usually spend $400-$600 on 8 people.

  311. Elizabeth November 21, 2013 at 10:56 AM

I plan on spending about dum dum dum daaa 200!! Which is why this would be perfect!!

  312. Joel November 21, 2013 at 11:25 AM

Will spend about $650 for 9 people…. hopefully less!

  313. EL @ MoneyWatch101 November 21, 2013 at 11:33 AM

I am forecasting about 500 for 10 people.

  314. Kelly November 21, 2013 at 11:55 AM

We sort of hope we don’t have to spend any money, but we’re avoiding the awkward conversation with my in-laws about it (they’ve already made xmas wish lists!!!). My family doesn’t really do presents. But, if we decide to cave, probably a grand total of about $200 for 9 people.

  315. DC @ Young Adult Money November 21, 2013 at 12:33 PM

I can’t remember the exact figure, but I think our budget was close to $600 for 20-25 people.

  316. Sarah S November 21, 2013 at 12:33 PM

I plan on spending $1300 for about 11 different people!

  317. Stephanie N November 21, 2013 at 12:51 PM

Wow mines seems really high now. We budgeted $1000 for about 10 people.

  318. Ashley C November 21, 2013 at 1:28 PM

Probably around 600 for 10 different people, we haven’t really sat down to do a budget yet
    demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com

  319. Kyle @ Debt Free Diaries November 21, 2013 at 1:44 PM

We will not be making holiday purchases this year. Our priorities are a little more focused on meeting our basic budget each month and everyone we would typically buy presents for is aware that we will not be exchanging gifts this year. This will actually be the first year we don’t buy anything at all for the holidays, including taking advantage of sales for personal use.

  320. Em November 21, 2013 at 1:52 PM

$300 on 15 people. I’m a super shopper! thanks for the opportunity

  321. Matt Hagler November 21, 2013 at 1:59 PM

600 on 13 people – Big family and this doesn’t even cover a third of the people!

200 of that is towards my wife and I who have decided not to get each other gifts, but to adopt a dog that we’ve fostered for the past 2 and a half months.

we have our 600 this set aside in savings, but a $200 gift card would really help with the adoption!

  322. Sue Brandes November 21, 2013 at 2:05 PM

Around $150 for 5 people. Thanks for the giveaway.

  323. jen November 21, 2013 at 2:24 PM

    6 people. Budget of $500

  324. Chelsea November 21, 2013 at 3:10 PM

I will probably spend about $200 on 6 people. Thanks!

  325. Victoria Carlson November 21, 2013 at 3:13 PM

We are planning to spend between $500-$600 on about 25 people! Although I have already bought a lot of gifts so it won’t break our budget so much next month!

  326. Vicky M November 21, 2013 at 3:48 PM

$800 max for 10 people. I usually spend a little less though and roll it over for the next year.

  327. Casey November 21, 2013 at 3:53 PM

$750 for presents for 15 people plus two gifts for a White Elephant exchange.

  328. Shauna November 21, 2013 at 4:28 PM

I’ve been working on Christmas gifts for this year since right after Christmas last year but I’d say that in total I’ll be spending about $250.

  329. Anne Burner November 21, 2013 at 4:34 PM

I’ve got about 10 people to buy for, and I’m hoping to keep it under $30 per person. Trying to stretch things where I can with discounts and gift cards to ease the strain on the wallet.

  330. tfinnell November 21, 2013 at 4:49 PM

Hi, J. Money! I plan on spending about $800 – I have about 15 people on my list. That’s the budget…..but I’ve been known to blow past it. I have a daughter that’s in college, one that is 12 and my honey. Probably $500 on just the three of them. The rest is whatever I found while I’m out for my parents and close relatives. Wish me luck!

  331. Nikki November 21, 2013 at 7:44 PM

I’m planning on spending about $300 for 20 people. I’m crafting a lot!

  332. phriot November 21, 2013 at 7:57 PM

I expect to spend about $350 total on a combination of 9 people and/or families. I know it’s not all about the money spent, but I’d still like to do more. Unfortunately, the grad school stipend doesn’t make it very far!

  333. Jen November 21, 2013 at 7:58 PM

We plan on spending about $500. We’ve already spent $50 for our youngest and plan on about the same for his older brother. The rest will be spent on gifts for our nieces and nephews. So a total of 5 children, us two and our moms.

  334. Sylvia November 21, 2013 at 9:06 PM

I plan on spending roughly $250 on 10 people. :)

  335. Leytta November 21, 2013 at 9:50 PM

I will be spending ZERO dollars on ZERO people this Christmas. Why? I am set to pay off credit card 1 out of 2 in FULL by the end of December! YYYAAAAYYY!!!

  336. Rai November 21, 2013 at 9:54 PM

Probably nothing unless I get some extra cash from somewhere

  337. Maya November 21, 2013 at 10:02 PM

Probably 100 on my immediate family of 4 . Scratch cards!

  338. Brianna November 21, 2013 at 10:31 PM

$120 on 3 people. My gifts are handmade (a quilt and 2 paintings) so the cost covers the fabric and frames. I made my gifts over the summer and am planning to buy the frames during the xmas sales. Planning ahead sure pays off!

  339. Brentt November 21, 2013 at 11:25 PM

For my wife and I, we plan to spend about $300-$500 dollars between five different parents and one sister. That amount will be coming out of our joint account. For each other, my wife and I are allotting about $100-$200 for each of us to spend on each other, and will be deducted from our personal accounts.

  340. Shilpa November 21, 2013 at 11:42 PM

    $0 for 0 people

  341. Alissa A November 21, 2013 at 11:47 PM

6 people for 500 or so?? Maybe??

  342. Eric November 22, 2013 at 12:58 AM

10-12 people. Hrm, I should probably count. We’ll probably end up spending around $350? I should also sit down and talk to the wife about that… :)

  343. T November 22, 2013 at 2:53 AM

    300 on 8 people!

  344. Nick W November 22, 2013 at 8:42 AM

I found a sweet custom made gift that I can personalize for everyone in the family and make it unique to them. Total cost – $15 per person – 10 people, only $150 this year for xmas – significant savings!

  345. Grace A November 22, 2013 at 9:18 AM

I plan on spending about $600 for 8 people.

  346. Daniel Byrd November 22, 2013 at 10:04 AM

My family / friends and I have a GREAT Christmas and make things as simple as possible. The adults MAKE things for each other – homemade bread, photo albums, etc and only buy a few items. We buy gifts for the kids only, and there are 5 that I’m buying for this year @ 100 each. Unfortunately for them, I’m that uncle who buys educational toys / books / musical stuff.

  347. Kristy November 22, 2013 at 10:09 AM

My budget for this year is $600 for 16 family members, 6 dogs (they have to receive gifts too!) one neighbor, and the mailman :) I love the idea of using credit card rewards to pay for presents, but we usually only save up enough points to get giftcards for date night. Next year we might try saving them for Christmas!

  348. Brittany November 22, 2013 at 10:42 AM

I am planning on not spending a lot on Christmas gifts this year because I’m getting ready to go to Antarctica and I just don’t have a ton of money to be spending! My parents and my in-laws will get gifts of locally-made consumables (because I live in Portland and that’s how we roll here ;o), which are always delicious and well-accepted!

    1. Jennifer November 22, 2013 at 11:14 AM

Antarctica sounds awesome! For work, fun? Can you send in a guest post to J$ about how you saved up for Antarctica sometime?

  349. Jennifer November 22, 2013 at 11:13 AM

We are aiming for $500 for 13 people but have extra in our gift funds saving just in case.

  350. Julie R November 22, 2013 at 12:46 PM

I am not trying to spend more than $250 on about 5 people plus a few nieces and nephews.

  351. Barry November 22, 2013 at 1:21 PM

I’ll be spending around $500 for 15 people!

  352. Caitlin G. November 22, 2013 at 2:10 PM

I plan on spending about $400 on 12 people. My goal is to pack my lunches every day until the new year :) Hello turkey sandwiches…

  353. Carrie L November 22, 2013 at 2:15 PM

I used to spend a lot because I felt pressure to match the gifts that people got me but I realized it made other people feel the same pressure to spend the same amount and we were just perpetuating a cycle. So I try and do $20-30 per person, a little more or less depending on how close they are but I think people would rather have a gift they’d appreciate that was cheaper than an expensive gift that they don’t really want.

  354. Holly S November 22, 2013 at 2:32 PM

Ugh, I hate to say it but I will probably spend about $1000 on Christmas gifts this year.

  355. Lisa Brown November 22, 2013 at 3:00 PM

i have $300 set aside for 5 people
    jslbrown_03 at yahoo dot com

  356. Sarah C November 22, 2013 at 3:16 PM

About 700 for 8 people plus cookies for another 10 or so.

  357. Alexis K. November 22, 2013 at 5:23 PM

I spend about 700 on 9 people. I consider myself lucky to have a small family at christmas!

  358. Mahdi November 22, 2013 at 7:55 PM

I already got about half my shopping done, but between my man and I we still have a lot of shopping to do. We’ve got about twelve people to go, so that puts us at about $250. Whoa.

  359. Jenny November 22, 2013 at 9:21 PM

We usually spend around 1500 :( This includes 4 children, grandparents, godchildren, friends, gift exchanges and teachers. I try to be extra generous for the teachers because it is a private school and salaries are not as high as they should be.

  360. Andrew November 23, 2013 at 1:49 AM

I’m planning to spend about $250 total on five people (four family members, one lady who I hope will be a family member one day).

  361. Wendy H November 23, 2013 at 1:53 AM

About $500 for three people and two animals.

  362. Jana November 23, 2013 at 2:01 AM

    Around $1000 for 20 people

  363. L November 23, 2013 at 7:28 AM

I plan on spending 500 on 5 awesome people

I am budgeting about $800 for 15 family and friends. Thanks.

  365. JP November 23, 2013 at 5:07 PM

About $250 on 9 “kids,” including adult nieces, nephew, and their kids, plus one of my own. Adults agreed to not do gifts at X-mas anymore.

  366. Becs November 23, 2013 at 8:05 PM

I’m hoping to get away with $400 for 5 people. I’ve been stocking up on little gift for the past 6 months so maybe even a little less!

  367. Melanie November 24, 2013 at 12:58 AM

I’m planning between $50-75. Three gifts for my immediate family and two for White Elephant Christmas parties.

  368. Austin November 24, 2013 at 6:53 AM

About $500 on 12 family members. Family generally keeps present costs low.

  369. Addrienne mertens November 24, 2013 at 12:03 PM

  370. Chris November 24, 2013 at 12:05 PM

Plan to spend $450 on 10 people. *fingerscrossed* haha

  371. Danny November 24, 2013 at 12:34 PM

Honestly: $0.00 on gifts. Only money we’ll spend is on a geat feast with each other to enjoy each other’s company.
    For: 9 people.
We’ve agreed to try something crazy and just go all out on spending a great time together for a couple days rather than spend that time looking for stuff, wrapping stuff and unwrapping stuff.
    Best. Christmas. Ever.

  372. Tyler @ Debt Reckoning November 24, 2013 at 1:45 PM

We plan to spend $500-$600 on a family four, all cash, of course, from our Christmas fund.

  373. Jan November 24, 2013 at 2:38 PM

I am planning to spend about $500 on five people. My in-laws tend to prefer stocking stuffers so the final amount could be slightly lower. :)

  374. Matt November 24, 2013 at 2:46 PM

I will be spending $250 on 5 people.

  375. Kirby @ TheSimpleMoneyBlog November 24, 2013 at 4:23 PM

    We’re planning $600 and 8 here!

  376. Anu November 24, 2013 at 4:37 PM

If we include favors for our Christmas party (my favorite part!), I plan to spend $300 for 4 people + party-goers.

  377. Crystal C November 24, 2013 at 8:51 PM

I’m planning to spend $400 for about 10 people.

  378. Richard Ojeh November 24, 2013 at 9:35 PM

Im planning on spending under $500 for 5 people!

  379. Tina B. November 24, 2013 at 10:32 PM

About 300 on about 15 people

  380. La Tejana November 25, 2013 at 12:06 AM

I honestly wish I knew the exact amount! Around $200 for family (4 people) and another $50-$100 for a local angel tree– my class of high school students decided to “adopt” a child and provide him with a Christmas party full of gifts (and of course some necessities as well: jacket, socks, etc).

  381. Shelley P November 25, 2013 at 2:47 AM

I’ll probably spend 400 dollars give or take.

  382. Jenna November 25, 2013 at 12:09 PM

$300 or less is my goal… I’m hand making a lot of things and putting together gifts composed of a lot of small stuff to really personalize them this year. This will be for about 20 people–my immediate family members, friends and my team at work.

  383. J. Money November 25, 2013 at 12:17 PM

Trying to keep it under $200 for 5 people, possible?!

  385. Danielle T November 26, 2013 at 11:45 AM

probably spending around $200 for 8 people

  386. Jamie November 27, 2013 at 10:41 PM

$600 for the family- 10 people in all- and probably about $50 for teacher gifts on top of that. It seems like so much more when you add it all up! Boo!

  387. OZJ November 28, 2013 at 9:11 AM

I am but a cash-strapped student. Thus I’ll probably only spend a max of $100 on 4 people (my family members).

  388. OZJ November 28, 2013 at 9:27 AM

LOL I guess I missed the giveaway. Oh well ;P
