retailmenot v-day giveaway

Yup, it’s GIVEAWAY time! One of you lucky Valentines lovers (haters?) will win a $150 Visa card to enjoy as your heart desires.

You can use it for a sexy little date night (emphasis on *sexy*), blow it all on a gift for your significant other, or, simply treat yourself to a fun shopping spree because that’s how you roll. There shall be no judging here today, friends – I’m simply the bearer of good fortunes!

And, speaking of good fortunes, let me take a few seconds to first thank RetailMeNot.com who’s powering this giveaway for us today. Not only are they the world’s largest digital coupon marketplace, but if you use them wisely you could possibly stretch that $150 gift card to well over $200 using their coupons!

Here are some of the good ones straight off their Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas page:

And here’s another fun fact for you: RetailMeNot Inc. went public recently (July, 2013) and you can now buy stock in them if interested :) Their ticker symbol? “SALE” haha… Pretty dope.

How to Win This $150 Visa Card

Want a shot at winning this? Answer these two questions below…

  1. How would you use this $150?
  2. Which coupon at RetailMeNot.com would you use to help stretch it? (Click on over to their homepage and find one. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, tell us what it is instead)

Here’s how I’m going to use mine I’m getting (they gave me a gift card for giving you all a gift card – cool, huh?): Take Mrs BudgetsAreSexy out for dinner, then show her the website I made just for her called MrsBudgetsAreSexyIsSexy.com*. Which I’ll get for only $2.95 using this coupon from RetailMeNot ;) I’m so slick… (you’re not reading this, are you honey?)

Your turn! Answer BOTH questions in the comments below, and we’ll randomly pick the winner by Sunday night, Feb 9th, so we can ship it off to the winner in time for V-Day. Giveaway open to US residents only, 18 and up (sorry foreign friends!) GOOD LUCK!

—–
*What’s going to be ON this website, you ask? Oh, a hunky man (me) holding up a sign that will read “I Love You.” And, if clicked, will then say “You’re getting lucky tonight, girl!” in my best Ryan Gosling voice.

***GIVEAWAY NOW OVER***
Congratulations to Cedes (commenter #102)! You’re the proud new owner of a $150 Visa gift card! Happy Refrigerator Day!

I would use the $150 in Europe during my upcoming vacation! :)

I use retailmenot all of the time when shopping online and off. They always have awesome coupons that I’ve used at places like Macy’s, Hancock Fabrics, and Nordstrom. I can’t think of a coupon I need right now, but they are definitely the first place I look when I do need one.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

I would buy groceries!

I just used retailmenot yesterday to get a coupon code for 6pm. They saved me $6 on a jacket for my daughter. Yeah!

oooh I would use the $150 at Blue Nile for myself. I have 3 piercings in each ear and sadly only 2 pairs of diamonds. 1 pair is nice and tiny (which I love), 1 pair is low quality and small, both came from my mom (what a love she is!). Depending on the price I would either use the code you posted above, or there is also a 30% off + free shipping code. There’s also always Kohls shopping codes on there and they have jewelry.

I hate Valentine’s Day. I don’t need a forced day to show my wife that I love her. If I’m not doing that constantly, I am failing at my husbandly job :)

That aside, I love surprising my wife (I do it often) and she would never suspect something on Valentine’s Day because the only thing I do each year for Valentine’s Day is make dinner :)

I really like the Anti-Valentine’s Day Piñata. I would totally get that and probably the 2 Movie Tickets and $100 Restaurant.com egift card for $30.

I would use it to buy a marine GPS. I am trying to create a really detailed and accurate map of the dive sites I frequent. I will then give the map to all my fellow divers. Yeah!!

Since I am a GIS Analyst, I am hoping this side-project will improve some skills that I can use to better my job position. (namely, I want to get into 3-d mapping.)

I would look at all the electronic coupons such as Best Buy and Ebay to see where I can get the best deal.

I’m lame and would buy something I already need, like some clothes at JCP using their 25% off coupon. Then I’d take the money I’d normally spend on the clothes and use it to pay off my wife’s student loans :) They’re almost gone!!!

I would take my wife out to a nice dinner with wine, drinks and without the kids. We have increased savings and nights like that will be fewer as we try to reach our new early retirement goals. With the remainder I would get a gift card from retailmenot as I never pick clothes that she likes.

Thanks to you and all the other early retirement bloggers out there for the new found inspiration.

1) I’m not a fan of V-Day but I do have a first date with someone this weekend that I have wanted to take out for awhile. Casual fun first date, but $150 could certainly help me take date #2 up a notch

2) Coupon – she and I have talked about doing a DC race so perhaps the Nike.com card for some running gear and FTD to have some flowers for her when she crosses the finish line.

I would use $150 to grab a pair of tickets to a show at the Fox in Atlanta! There are a few fun things playing in the next few months, as well as some comedians we’d like to see – and since we really don’t spend money to celebrate Valentine’s Day, it’d be a nice treat :)

Although I have to be honest, I’d probably snag on of the 30% your entire purchase coupons for H&M and spend a little bit of that $150 there..

I want to lie and say that I will spend it on my husband but his gift is already purchased so I will probably buy some new boots. I think I have a boot problem.

I loooove retailmenot. Their app has saved me so much money. I literally never buy anything online or in a store without checking the app first!

1.) I would use the $150 gift card to go horseback riding with my boyfriend (he’s been wanting to go on a trail ride for a while but we haven’t been able to justify the cost in light of our long term savings goals).
2.) Every time I buy something online I first search retailmenot for coupons that will help me save money. I’ve saved on clothing, shipping charges, pictures, etc.

Planning to spend 3 weeks in Asia visiting family and celebrating the end of law school & the bar exam!

1. I would use the $150 for my husband to buy some much-needed new work pants. He thinks that wallet-induced hole worn thin in his back pocket is hot. It’s not.

2. I would try my best not to peruse H&M’s kids and home sections, but that 30% off coupon it too tempting!

I’d probably use it on some upcoming events my hubs and I wanted to go to, bull riding and monster trucks. with tix at 65 bucks a pop, expenses add up. How are we supposed to buy $14 beers AND a souvenir cowboy hat at these prices?

So, at retail me not, I’m sure we could find some sweet duds to purchase before the dirt fest that will be the rodeo and monster truck show, and look as sassy as can be. All the rednecks will be a wonderin’ how we could be so fly. I would use that to celebrate us moving to a new city and both starting new jobs right after college less than a month ago!

1) Since I happen to be proud mama of a Valentine’s Day kiddo who just happens to be moving to a size 4T but only has size 3T clothes – I would probably use most of it on spring/summer clothes and the rest on a low-key dinner with hubby.

2) I would use Target since that’s where we buy lots of kiddo clothes.

If I was going to pick a coupon I would do one of the Godaddy ones, either the 70% off economy hosting or 50% off hosting plus a free domain name. I had been looking at starting up a blog so I guess those would be good deals to get it started.

My wife loves zinnia so I will plant a ton of them this year. The other $20 bucks would go to buy The Muppet Show Season 1 DVDs because my wife loves the Muppets and we have to expose our 1 yr old son to the good stuff. $110 (the rest) would go to Sallie Mae needs another nick for the Death of 1000 Cuts.

He truly is a nice person.

I would use the gift card towards a new winter coat (mine’s getting pretty shabby, but I’ve been waiting until they go on sale).

And, I could use the Kohl’s deal on RetailMeNot to get it even cheaper!

I would use the $150 for groceries. When I look for or use online discount codes such as RetailMeNot, it is when I am ready to make a purchase – that usually ends up to be when I am renewing a domain registration, but I have or would use that site to find a code for buying something like shoes where I already happen to be. No coupon code makes me use a particular merchant, but I use them after the purchase decision has already been made.

I’d use the $150 to get something to keep me warm and dry at Backcountry.com (yes, I’d share the cash with my Valentine so she could have something too).

And for a twofer, I’d use the coupon at Backcountry so that 150 would get more.

I would use the $150 to buy gear at REI for the backpacking trip to Europe that my boyfriend and I are planning! We’re making a very strict (but sexy;)) budget for the trip to be ready to take off in less than a year! Perhaps we could get a good deal on heavy-duty backpacks :)

We are also paying off our cars before we go and creating an emergency fund for when we get back, to give us time to settle in and find jobs again!

I would probably use the $150 to be able to go on a nice weekend trip. We live in a pretty isolated area so getting out for a weekend can be quite expensive. I would probably use the Restaurants.com RetailMeNot coupon so we could go out to eat & go to the movies – one of our favorite date nights!

I would use the $150 to take my husband on an impromptu road trip to Tucson or Sedona. As a stay-at-home dad and amazing support to his over-achieving wife (that’s me!), we don’t get much time outside of the house AND away from the miniatures. :)

TheRetailMeNot coupon I would use is Restaurant.com to score a nice place to rest when we get there (it’s a gruelling 2-3 hour drive, ya know)!

I would use the money to buy my wife some craft supplies. We have a joke between the two of us that goes like this: “the couple that coupons together, stays together.” She has since wanted to make some sort of decorative piece to hang in our house that says exactly that. However, we have both agreed it would only make sense if we used coupons to buy these supplies. Winning this gift card would be the perfect gift for her.

The wifey and I are separated until the end of the school year due to me working in Texas and her still teaching in Arkansas, so I would spend all of it on her throughout the rest of the school year to send her random reminders of how much I love her. For example, edible arrangements (delish!), maybe an awesome website where she can showcase her art (she’s an amazing painter), I’ll order her a pizza on a night when she’s wishing I were home to whip up some yummy food for her, surprise her by coming up on a weekend and taking her out to dinner and a movie a la restaurant.com.

And such other things. There are endless possibilities!

Me and my partner never really celebrate Valentine’s Day. Even after almost 14 years. Just another day on the calendar for us both. If I were to win, I’d would just split the $150 between us both so we could each pick up a little something for ourselves.

I would probably take advantage of the Best Buy 20% off small appliance coupon from ReatilMeNot and put It toward the purchase of an Keurig Brewer since I’ve been wanting one for quite some time now, but didn’t want to spend a fortune on one either.

I would use $150 to get extra groceries and I would use a Sam’s club coupon so I could join and save.

I would take my husband out to dinner, and use the buy one get one half off offer from Ruby Tuesdays

I would use it to buy new work clothes! Recently employed with my first “real” job, and only have nice winter clothes. Time to start thinking about spring and summer! Kohl’s, Macy’s, anything along those lines on RetailMeNot works for me!

Having been laid off, the $150 would go towards purchasing some quality interview outfits. My last position allowed use to wear jeans daily, so my professional wardrobe is lacking. I’d probably use Retailmenot’s discount codes for Macy’s and Banana Republic so I can stretch my money and be ready for any corporate interviews.

I would use it to to buy an upcoming birthday gift for my husband, a tool, most likely; I like the RMN coupon for Kohls: Extra 15% off storewide! Love that store.
