Republic Wireless Motorola E Giveaway! (x2)

What up what up frugal gangsters! My new favorite wireless carrier just released their latest (cheap-as-hell) smart phone, and because they think budgets are sexy too they’re shipping me two to give away to y’all today :) Along with 3 months of free service!

(How’s that for frugal?)

I know I’ve been mentioning Republic Wireless a lot over the months, but that really is only because I feel like I’ve stumbled across a gem here and I want to make sure y’all know about them too. If you’re happy with your own carrier and/or are annoyed with these updates, here are two other giveaways I’m running on my other sites you may find more suitable ;)

  1. A brand new 3/4 oz Silver Canadian Grey Wolf coin
  2. A kick-ass Tuft & Needle mattress

Or, better yet, try and win one of these for a friend or loved one! So *they* can try and convince you to move over after they rave about it, haha… j/k. (kind of)

Here’s a reminder of why I’m obsessed w/ Republic Wireless

The only downsides are you’d have to break our contract you’re currently with to switch (possibly costing you money) and you have to buy the phone outright from Republic Wireless. Which makes their latest phone we’re giving away today even better as it’s only $99!

(Fyi, I have noticed a few dropped calls here and there and a little wonky connection at times (it runs mainly over wifi and the Sprint network) but we’re two months in so far and I don’t plan on switching back. It’s not for everyone, but I’m done giving away an extra $100+ to other carriers for nothing.)

Here are some facts on the new Moto E

moto e republic wireless

  • It’s only $99
  • It’s a smartphone.
  • Has 3G
  • 4GB Internal Memory
  • Up to 32GB of expandable memory with micro SD card
  • Android™ KitKat® 4.4.4
  • 5MP Fixed Focus Camera
  • 4.3″ Edge-to-Edge HD Display

I’m not a techie so can’t add much more than that (and I haven’t personally tested this one out), but here’s a 2 min video on it that shares more if you’re interested. To me most smartphones do the same stuff: call, email, apps, etc ;) Here’s their website with more info too: Moto E

Like it? Want to own it?

I’ve got two of these bad boys to give out this week, and each comes with 3 months of free service which is an additional $75 value. You have two ways to enter:

  1. Sign up to my newsletter (where you’ll get future blog posts emailed to you)
  2. Tell us who you’d give the phone to, and why (you can choose yourself, of course :))

Drop a comment below with your answer/heads up and you’ll be automatically entered to win. We’ll run the giveaway for a week, and then randomly pick a winner shortly there after. (Open to U.S. only)

Good luck! And thanks for reading my blog :)

***GIVEAWAY NOW OVER*** The two lucky winners of the phone and service are…

  1. Crystal Resendiz
  2. Yvette (commenter #463)

Congrats guys! And thanks for participating everyone :) For those who didn’t win, fortunately the phone and service isn’t that expensive so def. consider giving Republic Wireless a shot.

PS: Don’t forget about the other giveaways too: Silver coin and Mattress – they both end this week.

I’d like to give the smartphone to my nanny to appreciate everything she has done to my kids. She really deserves this for her hard work and dedication to job. This simple thing is much appreciated. :D

I don’t need one, but just wanted to chime in. We had at before switching go RW and we had dropped calls on their service too! The times I do have the most issues is when I have poor cell service, but again, this is true for any provider.

I switched to republic and it works great for me. Little issues here and there but i had issues with AT&T. I think we just notice it more with republic because we are still evaluating it.

I’d probably keep the phone just in case i break the one i currently have :)

I’d like to enter the giveaway! I’d keep the phone for myself. I’ve never had a smartphone, but I’ve read a lot about republic wireless. I’ve been considering trying them out next year. I’m not sure how great the sprint network is near me, but it would be an improvement from what I have now. No cell phone! Mine was stolen in July and I still haven’t replaced it. Just kind of enjoying not having the monthly bill and waiting until I move into a better living situation before I pick up another contract.

Because its a family forum, I will only say that Sprint can bite it. Republic wireless looks to be a good deal and it definitely fits the budget. I use Walmart’s Straight Talk. Same thing; you have to buy the phone, some cheap some expensive and then its $45 a month, no contract, 3g data per month etc. In our area it uses Verizon towers which has not let us down.
    That’s my 2 bits.

Walmart straight talk doesn’t offer the WiFi functionality that RW does. You’d have to do a lot of VoIP setup to even get close to the same level, but you can’t mimic the seemless call handovers from WiFi to 3g.

I know you said it’s been pretty good with the exception of a few glitches here and there. I’m curious how service is around the country since I tour and travel so much for work. I want to say I’m giving it to myself, but I don’t know if I’m ready to take the leap, haha.

I’ve had Republic for a year and have traveled quite a bit and it works great wherever there is sprint service (or where sprint is bad enough that it switches over to verizon). I even used it out of country in resorts where it could connect to free wifi and everything worked just like I was sitting at home. Best part – since it works on wifi, it WORKS in my home, unlike every cell provider I’ve ever had.

I would give the phone to my husband because his service is really spotty in our house, and we have super strong Wi-Fi, so the issue might get resolved by voip. Also, he will keep the same phone until 2025 unless I force him to change, so what better way than winning a phone :)

I’d give my phone to my mommy. My dad, my brothers, sister-in-law’s all have iphones and cool gadgets but my mommy doesn’t have anything. She just wants a phone to call HER mommy. I want the phone because my family’s phone bill in total is about $400. It’s a big burden to my dad and I want my own so I can cancel the iphone contract and save my dad a few bucks. Republic Wireless honestly sounded like heaven because of their cheap rates — this current phone bill is a pain!

Been with Republic for over a year now …. awesome company and the one time I emailed for help I got a nice reply within a hour. Can’t beat their plans. Republic is just a brand – the vast majority of the no contract players run on Sprint network – virgin, Straight Talk, Boost, Ting …all Sprint because Sprint makes a load of money leasing network capacity. A few run on T-Mobile. Personally I love WiFi …9 times out of 10 better connection than cellular.

I’ve been with RW since January, but my fiancé hasn’t switched yet, and we were planning on buying the Moto E for him anyway! He’s paying $40/month for a “dumb phone” so it makes sense to get more out of the phone for a little less a month. RW has been okay for the most part – a few hiccups, but better than paying $92/month with Verizon.

So I normally never enter these give away posts since many times they are for things that I don’t really need or want (I have a pretty solid mattress at the moment). But I would actually use this phone for myself. I’m personally pretty proud that I’ve never had a smart phone ever, and people always comment on my phone whenever I happen to pull it out in public, like it’s some relic of the cold war. I always brag about it’s cool features that their smart phones don’t have like a “full slide out keyboard with buttons that don’t always register”

I think that switching phones might be a good experiment, or possibly a very bad one since I might not be able to go back to a regular one after. But perhaps it’s time to move to the 21st century. I was about 5 years late to the “we all have cell phones” party, so perhaps it’s about time I finally showed up to the “I have a smart phone” party.

  52. Kiya October 22, 2014 at 11:15 AM

I would give it to my son for his 16th birthday coming up. I don’t have much use for cell phones (I have a REALLY old flip-phone from TracFone that I use for emergencies, etc.)

My son is a good kid and although he has a better phone than I do, it’s still an old TracFone, and he’d like something a bit cooler. Cell phones are not a priority in my budget, and even though the RW service is affordable, the phone itself isn’t.

So if I won it, I’d give it to him. If I don’t win, he can start saving up to buy one on his own! :)

Got my daughter a Moto G from Republic Wireless two weeks ago. Got her the $10 plan. Grounded her from the phone for sneaking it to bed, and took the phone with me to work to check it out. Nice little phone, very capable unit.

Now that my wife’s iPhone is starting to poop out (we both own an anceint iPhone 4) she’s next on the list for an upgrade.

I’d love a free one, but Republic Wireless is so affordable, it doesn’t even break my heart if I have to buy it.

    Before RW: Two iPhone4 , AT&T dataplan, ~100 month
After RW (our eventual goal): Three moto G/E, 2x$25 plans, 1x$10 plan = 65 month

One more phone for 25 dollars less per month. What’s not to love about that?

I’d keep it for myself and, depending upon how well the service works, buy another one for my daughter later. I had an iPhone with Sprint service but just couldn’t afford the bill anymore so I switched to a pay-as-you-go plan with a cheap slider phone straight out of 2005. Well now that we’ve moved halfway across the country, the service on my cheapo phone sucks. So I’ve been shopping around for something new. I miss having a smartphone and my daughter is reaching that age where she wants her own phone, but being able to afford two smartphones on my budget (a single mom and freelance writer) is practically impossible. Republic seems do-able.

She now has 3 phones one which I Gog her on republic to help try save her money. She is looking to move both her kids lines over. I could write a book with all that has happened to heidi and her daughter but you probably wouldn’t believe me with as bad as it is. She constantly donating to abused women shelters, taking care of less fortunate out of her own pocket or out of her business so I would love for something good to happen for her. Just I the last year alone she has had roughly $75,000 in medical bills between her and her daughter. Please give it so someone who really could use it. After a few weeks with my new phone all fears were relieved. I can’t express enough how great republic wireless is! It’s great on my broke college student budget, I always have service, I don’t have to worry about overages, my bill is the same price every month, I can finally understand the breakdown of charges and feel confident I am not being ripped off and intimidated by impossible to read bills, the list goes on! I’ve been with RW for a while and have the moto x. I love it and the customer service is better then I’ve ever experienced with other companies. I have a daughter who is a single mom in college who could really use a phone with a low payment plan. I would give the phone to her.

I would love to pass along a cool, new phone bundled with Republics sweet service to my brother. He got into a crappy, low wage job coming out of the Army and he could use a little pick me up right about now! The service has got to be cheaper than what he has with ATT and the phone is definitely an upgrade over his shattered iPhone he can’t afford to replace.

I would keep the phone for myself. I have been limping along a Nexus 4 on Straight Talk. (battery is shot, screen is broke, and camera stopped working). I just haven’t been able to justify spending the money on a new phone right now. I have been fascinated by Republic since I read about them, and would love to give them a shot.

I would give the phone to myself! I have the 1st generation of smart phone offered by Republic Wireless and it has issues. It does not have enough internal space in addition to it not being able to send or receive SMS texts (pictures). It also does not perform well with calling on the wireless network.

I would love to win one or two of these great phones phones. I want to give one to my 88 year old Mother, so i can keep in touch with her and she can with me as well on the cheap.
The 2nd one i want to give to my daughter, she is a single Mom and unemployed right now due to injury and she needs to save every penny that she can just to take care of her daughter.
Both of them are worthy recipients of owning a great phone and a fantastic phone service such as Republic Wireless.
Thank you so much for this opportunity….

It’s just a little thing (because whoever is caring for her at the moment always has a phone), but I’d love there to be a ‘house phone’ that she knows how to use when she’d like to be able to get in touch with her Mother …or grandparents! If I won I would give one to my dad because he has never had a cell phone and I was recently telling him about RW and the other to my mom because she recently broke up with her fiance and is going through a financially tough time and this could help her out.

He’s been working hard to change that and has been trying to pinch pennies to get himself out of debt, by doing things like canceling cable tv and not going out to eat. He currently has my old Defy XT from Republic Wireless, a tolerable but buggy old phone. He’s always doing nice things for me and I’d love to give him a better phone and help him save even more money in the process.

I have had a Moto X from about launch with them.
The service is great. We love the savings.
With the plan of one phone at $25 and two at $10 we will pay less for all three of us than almost any other carrier for one person.
We now need to get my daughter a Moto E.
This would be a great save on our budget.

I’d give it to my wife. She “hates” cell phones, but lately steals mine all the time to have text chats with our son who is now away at college. I think what’s changed her mind about cellphones was my getting a Republic Wireless phone. We had Verizon for a long time, then T-Mobile. When I heard about RW I couldn’t wait to sign up, but had to wait for the “mid-grade” phone (hey, I’m cheap….errr, I mean frugal). She never used any of my old phones, but now borrows my phone when she leaves the house (I work from home) and grabs it a lot at home just to text with our son. So, I think her opinion is changing. All that said, I know there’s no way we can (or that she would) shell out $100 for a new phone for her. But, a free phone? That we could afford!!

Just a year ago she retired and went through a horrible break up with her bf who was trying to stalk her so she got a restraining order on her. Also, she was supposed to move back into her old house that she was renting and the tenant extended their stay without paying for over 3 months. She finally moved into her place after having to evict her tenant and now to top it all off she is having issues with her phone. This woman desperately needs a new phone and a new service. She deserves it!

I’ve been using Republic Wireless service personally for about a year and it’s saved me well over $50 a month. My friends are constantly drooling when I tell them that I pay $28 a month for unlimited everything. I’ve tried to tug the iphone away from my wife and convince her that she doesn’t need to be tied to AT&T any longer. A free RW phone would convince her and help us save another $30 a month which we could put toward starting our kids college fund.

If I won the Republic Wireless MotoE, I would give it to my son. He has had a phone through Metro for a few years. But, not only does it cost more…once he started high school this year he gets ZERO reception on that side of the campus. If he walks to the Middle School area or the parking lot, his phone starts pushing through his missed texts and calls….Hours! Later! :( Not very convenient for me when I need to get a message to him.
Sprint’s 3G towers might not have the best reception for the area code my son goes to school in, but there is at least 1 Bar at all times, and texts/calls can be received and made.

    Thanks!

My husband, older daughter and I are already on republic and are saving so much overt he family plan we used to have. We have occasional bad service/dropped calls but we did with AT&T, too. And when my older daughter broke her defy republic sold us a Moto G for the same price as a refurb Defy replacement. The customer service has been phenomenal. I never want to go back to a contract again.

    I’ve never owned a smartphone.
To message friends, I use (clunky) texting applications on my old iPod. Unfortunately, over the past few months, it’s been having problems, and the ‘fix’ is a replacement of a many years old device. I go to a school where 90% of the students use iPhones, with the other 10% using high end Android devices. It’s always a little embarrassing when someone asks for my number and I ask them to send something to my email instead. With a phone, I’ll be able to do so much. I’ve always wanted to develop applications for Android based devices, but I’ve never had one to test with. I think I’ll use this phone to its fullest, as both a consumer device and a tool for education.

I’d give the phone to my daughter as her first phone. With the $10 plan, I wouldnt need to worry about her sending a ton of texts or racking up overages, and the wi-fi plan is a great way for her to utilize our home network to surf the net, play game, etc. I’ve been on Republic for about 4 months (my wife and I each signed up and have the $10 plan with the Moto G) – so far, so awesome and a great way to save some bucks each month.

I have been with RW for nearly 2 years- saw a cnet story about it. Can’t beat the low cost plan and most of our use is in wifi areas so we are way below any data ceiling. I have gotten the other phones for my wife and this year added my 13 year old. She has the $10 plan so she can talk or text to get a hold of us anytime but can only surf or play when she is home on the wifi- great deal for kids. I would keep this one for myself because i have a work phone and can”t get apps for it or surf the net easily.

I want a Republic Wireless phone or our family. I am home part time with our two small kids and the only way we can have me remain home as much as I am is to drastically cut our budget. So far, we have cut our cable and gone to streaming. The next is to cut our current cell phone carrier for a much more affordable plan through Republic. Those two changes alone saves our family over $200/month. Of course, my husband driving a car with almost 400K miles isn’t hurting either! :)

We still have flip-phones because I can’t justify the budget expenditure for smart-phone purchase and service. We already have to pay for data that we don’t not use to get a cheaper plan with Verizon- makes no sense to save money by paying for a product we do not use, but Verizon does not negotiate or speak common sense. I have been following Republic Wireless for some time (and waiting for the Moto-E) trying to convince myself that they are not “too good to be true”.

I have been on Republic Wireless since June and it has been great. I was on Boost Mobile (which is on Sprint towers) and service with spotty, but with Republic and the roaming I have had no problems. If I won the phone, I would give it to my daughter. She would really like a smart phone and has been waiting to save up the money.

I would like to give a Moto E to my parents to replace their old flip-phone with a great Republic Wireless plan. With what they need, they could easily get by on RW’s $10/month plan and that would be a huge step up over what they have now in terms of features and cost! For retirees on a fixed income, every little bit of savings helps!

I have the Moto G with Republic, and have been very happy with the phone and the service. I really do think it is the best value in cell and wireless phone service. The Motos are the very best of the less expensive smartphones. I would give the phones to my 2 teenage stepsons who are immigrating to the U.S. this month. Been a RW customer for some time now, have 3 phones (Moto X and two Moto G), could not be happier. Was soo glad when I gave Sprint and Verizon the boot. Absolutely cannot beat the rates, all of my 3 phones now costing me 50$ per month (crazy wife insists on 3G, although she spends most of her time at home anyhow). I have been trying to get this setup for many years (smart phone with no data plan, don’t need it) glad RW got my back. Hope these guys make it big and really shake up the industry.

You may find a cheaper plan but again there will be limitations. The service allows me to select a plan that fits my budget and meets my needs! I can’t be happier.

She has a Republic phone but it is the original Defy XT. No offense but that thing is a hunk of shit! Somehow or another we budgeted enough for me to get the Moto X. I love it and I love Republics service. I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan and coverage has never been an issue. She needs a new phone and she would never do it for herself. This would be great for her to use at home to call and text her siblings and we could easily handle the $5 monthly fee for her.

I have been very happy with their service. I have two children (11 and 15) that I need a cell phone for since we have no home phone. The $99 Moto E would be perfect for them.

My 11 year old son has been DYING for a phone, but I refused to since it seems like it is so unnecessary at his age. However, his 10 year old ipod (yes, I believe it is that old since it was a hand me down from his 21 year old sister) has seen better times and I was planning on getting him a new one for Christmas anyway. Now with the phones and plans from Republic being so reasonable, it seems like this is a better replacement as a Christmas gift, as well as making his mother get a little better up with the modern times. :) Love, love, love your blog, and the hip “common sense” you promote! Having a phonenis important if you ever want tp get a job now because calling back after an interview is key. My brother needs a phone but we don’t have enough money to pay up front only monthly. I would love to be able to give this phone to my wife. She has been using an older iphone for the last year or two but it is beginning to show it’s age. Also, as she has gotten older, her eyes aren’t what they used to be and the small screen of the iphone 4 is beginning to make it difficult for her to view at all times. The bigger screen and newest Android software would be a big boost for her cell phone experience. As a mother of 6 children, she spends a lot of time on her phone keeping up with all that is going on in our family. The Moto e and Republic Wireless service would greatly increase her cell phone capabilities while lower the family budget expenditures. Thanks for the chance to win!

Were I to win this fantastic give-away, I would personally use the phone. I am a college student who has not had any sort of phone. When I go to, say, the doctor’s office, or when a friend asks for my number, I respond that I do not have a phone. First of all, it is funny how people just take it for granted that everyone has a phone and they just ask for your number and not if you have one. Secondly, they do not believe me when I tell them that I don’t have one! I just get incredulous stares and “Oh, really?” ‘s as responses usually followed by “Well, how am I supposed to contact you?” like them needing to contact me will magically make me have a phone.
Also, What If I run into a bigfoot or see something awesome and once-in-a-lifetime? Imagine the publicity for our good friends at republic wireless when I capture it on their phone!
Beyond that, I live in a pretty rough neighborhood. I try not to go out so much at night, but sometimes I have to. It would just be great to have the added protection factor of being able to contact someone if I needed to, because right now, I am on my own when walking alone.
In short, it would really be a huge convenience factor for me to get my first phone, and I would certainly appreciate the opportunity to start of my phone journey with this deal!

If I won one I’d first give it to the wife. She could drop her old phone off her Sprint plan and start saving. Ideally I’d like to get our 2 eldest kids either Moto E or G’s and the wife and I Moto X’s. We currently pay $120’ish for our phones and could drop it down to $70 with 4 lines. Only reason we don’t is the cost of entry,

I’d give it to me. For some reason we can’t figure out, my current phone won’t connect to the work wifi, and that’s what’s keeping me from a cheaper plan. I can get wifi just about everywhere else.

I would love to win this to give to my son who currently pays $300 plus monthly for his family plan through Verizon. It would be great to get the whole family to transfer to RW. I’ve had RW since it was in beta and it has come a long way – I definitely wouldn’t switch back to any of the other carriers – RW is great!!!

Republic Wireless seems like a wonderful service! I’ve been looking at it for awhile now, but putting down a big chunk of cash up front for the X or G was a bit difficult for me financially. The news of the new Moto E actually gives me a chance to fit it within my upcoming budget. Reducing my cell phone bill to $10 dollars a month would be a Godsend for me; Winning a Motorola Moto E with three months free full service would give me a chance to catch my breath with my bills and would make a huge difference in my life.
Thank you for considering me, J. Money and the Budgets Are Sexy staff.
    Sincerely,

Republic Wireless’s Moto X was my first smartphone, and I absolutely love it. The biggest reason I stuck with dumbphones up until 2 months ago is because I didn’t want to pay (out the nose) for services like cellular data that I wasn’t going to use. Republic lets me have all the advantages of a smartphone with none of the added baggage.

I have a friend who has a old Blackberry knockoff from Tracphone. She’s constantly forgetting to re-up her prepaid minutes, and letting airtime expire. Unlimited minutes from Republic Wireless’s Moto E would make her cellular life a whole lot simpler, not to mention save her money every month.

I would give the phone to my oldest daughter. I have been contemplating using Republic Wireless for all of my kids as well as myself. But have just heard of them and been doing a little research. We currently have Sprint but for four phones (non-of which has internet capabilities) we are paying a fortune. I do need to upgrade all four phones soon and ad yet another. If we were to get this phone my daughter could try it out and we could see if it is worth the switch for us all.

I’d keep the phone for myself. I have been looking into Republic for about 6 months now but it’s been more reasonable for me to continue my service with Verizon at $70/month that I am no longer under contract for then to spend $300 on a phone all at once. I’ve been trying to save but the budget is tight (thanks in very large part to reading your blog for about a year now) and I would REALLY like to put the extra funds I’d save towards getting rid of some of my last bit of debt that’s been lingering for too long.

It would be a great replacement for the phone that save his leg and even maybe his life.

I have been following Republic Wireless since they were in Beta with a horrible moto defy phone. Due to the area I lived in not having good coverage by Republic Wireless I decided to not join. Last year when the MOTO X and MOTO G were release I got excited and decided I wanted to join Republic Wireless as soon as I could afford the phone. Instead my wife who never had heard of Republic Wireless got a MOTO G and loves it.

If I received this phone I would keep it for myself to use and would be VERY happy. I can’t afford a normal phone bill due to the cost and I now live in an area where Republic Wireless picks up perfectly! Thanks for offering the chance to allow people to win an awesome phone!

I all reality, if I were to receive one of these phones, I would keep it, not in a sense of being greedy but that the value of it and how much it’ll save me strikes the reason for my answer. With college coming up soon, and knowing that my parents won’t help me pay for college, I’m gonna have to tackle student bills, my car insurance, and also a phone bill. Like all students, I don’t want to struggle in college, so a nice phone with cheap phone plans would be ideal. Whoever wins these phones, I know they will benefit from your generosity. Thank you for your time.

I’d give the phone to my mom. I’ve been following RW since they were in alpha, and I was lucky enough to get an invite to their beta. Unfortunately at the time I was to broke to buy the phone. Finally took the plunge about 6 months ago and never plan on going back. I’m on the 3g plan which after taxes and whatnot come to a few cents short of $30 a month. I’ve been trying to convert my parents to the Republic for awhile now since it would cut their phone bill in half, but they are worried about coverage, so a free phone and free 3 months to try it would be just what they need. By the way posting this from my RW Moto G!

I love my Moto X with Republic Wireless! I made the leap without any friends or family having even heard of them yet alone being able to vouch. It took me almost a year to decide to take a leap and pay more for a phone than I ever have because I knew that if the service was good, I’d save money in a year easily, and after a year, incredibly. It paid off! I’m happier than I have been with any other carrier and I’ve had 5 others before Republic. I like pointing out to people that I can make calls inside of office buildings and stores where other people can’t just by getting on the wifi. I think my reception at home is better than any cell towers could provide (I’ve always had terrible reception where I live but it’s not an issue now.)
Anyway, I’m a low income individual and my parents are on social security now. They need the most affordable cell phones and plans they can possibly get. They just don’t think they can justify the cost of the phones. I know winning one of these would really help their budget and have them both make the move. Getting a phone for free would really help my family out so I hope we win!

If I were to win this giveaway, I would give the phone to my lovely wife. My hope was to switch my plan to Republic, and prove to her that the service was worth the savings in my monthly bill (I mentioned previously how me switching to Republic cut our bill from ~$160 to ~$80/month.) This phone would be a great gift to her, and would allow her to begin trying out the Republic service herself in order to help her switch over and save us more $$.

I would keep it for myself :) As a stay at home mom I’m always looking to save money and would love to try out RW! Plus I could give my iPhone to my mom who is really wanting a smart phone to use with her current provider :D

I would love to break my contract and have a less expensive phone bill! Why? Because life is too expensive when you are a single mom. I’m trying to pay down debt, save for retirement & a college education.

In all honesty I’d give it to myself. I’m out of work right now, and I’ve been without a cell phone (service) for a little over a month. It’s pretty awful & scary being out and about without one!
    Thanks!

I would, ahem give it to myself. We live in a somewhat rural area so I’d love to be able to check out how the RW service actually works where we live without dropping my own cash on a new phone. After all, it’s always better to use someone else’s money if you can :)

I’m a HUGE fan of Republic Wireless, which I stumbled across based on reviews like yours around the ‘Net. I’ve had a Defy XT for a year that’s been a great phone, and totally worth it’s price, but still in the dark ages compared to a Moto E I’ve had the opportunity to play around with a few days ago. It’s gorgeous, handles everything I need it to, and has the expandable storage in a lower-end phone (I judge based on megapixel count!) to handle everything I need. My friends would hope I don’t win this so I stay quiet about Republic Wireless for at least a week, and let them pay their high cell phone bills in peace for a bit :)

I was already subscribed to your newsletter when I saw this post in my email, but clicked through to the mattress giveaway you mentioned on Rockstar Finance to read about Tuft & Needle before subscribing to your updates there because the content is just what I want– few blogs out there are as consistently valuable as yours, and it’s too much work to dig through some relative dirt to find the gems in other places.

    Here’s hoping for a new Moto E!

I would give it to myself. Right now I have a phone that is going on five years old. It is one of those ones that slide out to reveal the keyboard (so cool!!!). But I have been meaning to get on the smart phone bandwagon as there have definitely been times when I kicked myself for not having one.

I’ve been researching RW for about a month, and it all sounds great. I think I’m finally ready to give up my RAZR flip phone (yes, I’m still using one of those!) and take the plunge into smartphone land.

I would keep this phone for myself. My smart phone has a cracked screen and I am too thrifty to do anything about it over the 4 weeks until I am eligible for an upgrade. We are currently paying quite a bit for cell phone service and I’d love to save some money.

I would give my phone to my husband. He’s the pastor of our church. He’s had to sacrifice so much this past year to make sure our family has had everything we’ve needed. That included selling his iPhone. He travels over an hour one way to his job and does so without a cellphone. That is who I’d give the cellphone too, to thank him for all he’s done for our family.

Thank you for allowing me to enter.

    Sincerely,

    Laraine Butler

I would like to win a phone for well, myself. I was about to sign up with RW but have some reservations about spending the dough on my ETF with Verizon. I work with adults with disabilities and LOVE it but I barely make enough to cover my bills. Please help me and my mother (she helps me pay my cell phone bill and car insurance)!

In all honesty, I would keep it for myself.
My wife and I are already on republic wireless. I used the $25 plan and my wife uses the $10 plan for a total of $35 before taxes. We used to pay about $100 more than that on Verizon for one smart phone with 500mb of data and a flip phone.
I use google maps a lot for work, and we really can’t afford most of the phone services out there. We both got the MotoX for christmas.
Unfortunately, I dropped my MotoX a couple of months ago and the screen shattered. I can still use the voice activation and get audible turn-by-turn directions, but I could really use a phone with a functional screen again.
We’ve been saving up to replace it, but it takes time. Tight budget, and mouths to feed trump a replacement phone.
Winning one … that would be awesome.

This is perfect timing! I’ve been obsessively researching low cost carriers and my contract is up next month. So, I’d keep one for myself and give the other to my sister-in-law who is using a flip phone with a broken keyboard, and no internet. Poor thing! Smart phones are every mom’s best friend and most useful tool. Fingers crossed!

I would give the phone to myself: it’s my birthday soon! We’ve been using Republic Wireless for my daughter for about a month now, and we love their service. I’m definitely switching next month and need a phone. It’ll be nice to have a real smartphone instead of my only-slightly-better-than-tin-can-and-string dumb phone.

I would give it to my daughter. I am working on getting off of AT&T because as a single mother, wasting money in any way, shape or form is just not an option. Unfortunately, my phone is in contract with them but my daughter’s phone is not. I want to switch her over to Republic Wireless but can’t afford the $99 for a phone, especially this time of year. And if my 14 year old daughter is happy with Republic Wireless, then I know I will be happy with it and switch over once my contract is up.

I’d have to use the Moto E myself for awhile. It is promoted as a “flip-phone killer” and may be hazardous to share with my in-laws until I have been trained in its care and feeding.

i’d give the smartphone to my girlfriend — we’re actually on republic, but signed up before the moto X was released — so we both have the defy XT. it’s not as good a phone (stuck on android 2.3, under 512mb of internal storage, and a bit on the slow side, not to mention a weak camera) so i would love to get a better one! been on republic just over a year.
