We did *NOT* win our lottery game! Haha… though we did come away with $5.00 ;) Which is funny because BOTH of the winning lottery tickets we had were because of YOUR errors! Haha, way to pay attention.
Here were the lucky Mega Millions numbers for our drawing: 24, 25, 45, 47, 53 and 42 (Mega Ball).
And here were the two that came closest to winning – BOTH with errors!
- The first winner ($3.00) was Kelly A‘s who emailed me the numbers of 3, 12, 24, 26, 37, 52. All fine to the naked eye, but that last one (#52) was TOO HIGH for the Mega Ball. So I changed it to 42, which the Mega Ball ended up being ;) So there was $2.00 of the $3.00 right there, and then we got an extra $1.00 for getting another right (#24) which Kelly picked — good job ;)
- Then we had another similar issue which netted us $2.00. Only this time I had to wade through 7 numbers instead of 6! Haha… it was when we dropped the 7th number that I realized the 6th as too high, yet again, for the Mega Ball. So I swapped it out w/ the next one over (#54) and bam — we hit the Mega Ball again ;) So you too won something, Edward Antrobus, a whole $1.00!
This was surely worth the $47+ I spent running all of y’all’s numbers, and the 2 hours it took for me to fill in all those circles too (!!!), haha… Who needed $39 Mil anyways? So now the question becomes — would you two like me to re-invest your money for another shot? Or shall I send you your pennies in the mail? Lemme know and we’ll make it happen… crazy winners ;)

I usually do not play lotto but I heard my brother won $2. I thought it was kind of funny for winning $2 but he seemed little excited about it. I’m sure inside, he was disappointed. I think lotto is waste of your money but then again, if you don’t play you have 0% chance of winning.
Might want to tell the winners that you’ll have to deduct the price of the stamp in order to forward their huge lottery winnings-ha!
A bit unrelated… for my father-in-law’s 80th b-day we bought him $80 lottery tickets (@$1 each). He won $83 and wanted to “re-invest” so we bought $83 more tickets and he won $52. We then re-invested that into 52 tickets and he was down to about $30 in winnings. I really wanted to see how long the initial $80 would play out but he decided to cash out while he was ahead (and I was out $80). This might be a fun experiement for next year’s anniversary.
On a positive note, the taxes won’t be too high on that 5 bucks you won!
@UltimateSmartMoney – Haha, you got that right. I literally JUST told someone that too (the whole “you can’t win when you don’t play” thing). We were like that in paying off our mortgages – always wanting them done but not DOING anything about them ;) Glad we changed that!
@kcli – Hahaha.. I LOVE your father-in-law! He/you are much luckier than I was when I tried doing that with $100 two years ago ;) We came away with $38 of winnings, but luckily we were playing for charity and a handful of other people jumped in and we ended up raising $200+. So at least it wasn’t a TOTAL fail, haha… lemme know what happens on his next birthday ;)
