Someone’s Getting Better at Making Babies ;)

[BREAKING NEWS: It’s going to be a boy!]

Well friends, I come to you today with some pretty exciting news! Mr. J. Money’s family will be expanding! WE’RE PREGNANT AGAIN!!! Woohoo!!! On the first try this time too, pretty crazy stuff :)

As many of you know it took us almost 2 years to conceive Baby Money #1 (Wow that’s weird to say…), so we thought we’d get on the ball right away this time in case it took another 2 years – if ever – to conceive again. And to our surprise it worked on the first go around!

You should have seen the look on my wife’s face, haha… it was priceless. I told her I wanted to check out those weird pregnancy sticks WITH HER this time every time she did it (‘cuz last time I was halfway across the country!), and of course she tries to brush me away and say there’s nothing to look at… Well, it’s a damn good thing I pushed or else I would have missed it all over again!

It went something like this:

ME: “Hurry up, let me see that thing! How long does it take?? A second? 10 seconds? An hour?”

MY WIFE: “Calm down over there, it takes a while. Just give it time and you’ll see a line show up soon…”

ME: “Okay, well what does 2 lines mean? Cuz there’s one coming in pretty boldly, but now there’s a slightly faded one too.”

MY WIFE: “Well that would mean we’re pregnant, but you won’t see two – just look for the 1 and calm your horses”

ME: “Ummm…. I think we’re pregnant?”

And then hysteria and happiness ensues ;) And literally the first thing that goes through my mind is, “I’m so happy for Baby Money!!! He’s going to have a friend to hang out with!” Followed by, “Well there’s NO way I’ll be able to track all these baby expenses now” Haha… I find it hilarious that my blog is always one of the first few things to pop up with this stuff, but not so much with the wife ;)

At any rate, we’re pregnant again!  With a due date somewhere in the middle of May… It’s a bit too early in the process to tell if it’s a boy or girl and all that (we’re not even at 20 weeks yet but I couldn’t hold it in this time around!!), but hopefully all will be well and I’ll be reporting more happy news as time trickles on :)

And just like the last go around, I’m still just as giddy and nervous that our world’s about to turn upside down again. From what I hear going from one to two is *quite* the shock to the system… And money ain’t lookin’ as good as it once was either, unfortunately.

But such is life! Whatever it takes we’ll be providing a beautiful and loving home for our new special love muffin, and we’ll take things one step at a time as we did with Baby Money #1.

Pray everything goes smoothly, friends! I love y’all so much!

That’s great news man. Congrats to you two for being pregnant again. They say everything gets easier with more practice and it seems to be the case for you :) I don’t have kids yet, but if I do in the future I would want to have more than one as well because it can be lonely growing up without any siblings :)
I just remembered a clip on Family Feud where the question was “during what month of pregnancy does a woman begin to look pregnant.” and the contestant answered “September” haha.

Yippeeeee!!!! Don’t worry about money. Things always work themselves out. My parents raised 5 kids mostly on 1 modest salary because daycare would have been more than my mom’s pay. We didn’t have everything we wanted, but we had everything we needed (and some things we wanted). Plus the new baby will get all of big brother’s hand-me-downs, AND you have plenty of time to make a plan! So exciting!

If I were you I would talk about it possibly being twins. We never did, and we were totally blindsided when we found out we expected times two. Five days into this whole twin thing and last night was horrible lol. I mean that in a loving way. Two newborns and a 3 year old is a handful.

    Enough about me….. congratulations!

Congratulations! We’re due early June and our first is only ten months today! We thought it would take a long time too! Now our goal is to organize everything in our lives and create working systems so two doesn’t feel so hard. Financially at least, you own most of the baby gear now…right?

    Reply
    1. J. Money October 29, 2013 at 11:12 AM

Wowww now THAT is close! haha… You def. beat us there ;)

Yeah, having all the baby stuff already def. helps out, esp if it turns out it’s a “he” in the end. But I guess we do need to get a new crib and that kinda stuff, but def. easier the 2nd time than the first. At least when it comes to “stuff” – I hear it gets pretty crazy in the house when it comes to managing them!

Keep me updated on the due date as it gets closer :) ours is set to come out mid-May sometime, but maybe ours will be late, and yours will be early and they’ll meet this beautiful world of ours together? :)

We’re totally thinking Ikea crib this time: same safety regulations as all others, smaller, and much cheaper. That way we can fit it in our nursery since we only have two bedrooms. We need a crib and someday a double stroller but otherwise feel pretty set. And even if we have a girl this time, we’ve made so many parent friends now I bet we could wrangle girly hand-me-downs. That’d be fun if they were born close, babies are the best!

Congrats again! PS I hear 0 to 1 is the biggest adjustment because you have no kids before and then bam kids, even though I’m sure every adjustment when you add an extra kid is unique and challenging in it’s own way. PS, I kind of hope you do track expenses with this baby, because I have a personal theory that subsequent kids are less expensive over all and I want to know if that’s true. Why? 1) You know which things you need and you don’t need. I know with Dom there has been stuff I have spent money on that I thought I needed and later on was like, this is totally not necessary at all. And 2) Because you already have one kid, you have a bunch of kid stuff that can be reused, the start up costs are less, so to speak. So I’m just curious to see if my theory holds true. But I know, you’re not superman, so if you don’t have the time to do it, don’t worry about it!

    1. J. Money October 29, 2013 at 11:21 AM

I like to pretend I’m Superman though ;) We’ll see how it goes, but I do think you’re right without needing to prove it – things will def. be cheaper than the first time around!

I don’t have kids, but from what friends/family have told me, the second baby is always MUCH less expensive than the first… mostly due to hand-me-downs and the fact that family policies for health insurance often cover two kids for the price of one.

We did a financial plan for the next two years, thinking it would take a year to get pregnant and BOOM first go. Complete disbelief/shock/happiness/nervous all at the same time hahah. I hope the pregnancy goes well for her and she doesn’t get too run down running after Baby Money and being pregnant. Growing a baby is hard work! If you do a cost tracker I’ll be following, probably taking notes for when we go for round two! Congratulations :)

No respect for those poor condom companies out there. Congrats on your continued sexual intercourse despite being married!

That’s really cool, congratulations! Incidentally, the same thing happened to my wife and I. First child took 2 years, second took 2 months. We’re still working on the third after 9 months, so evidently we didn’t “figure it out” like we thought… :-)

Hearty congrats to you and the Mrs. on the exciting news! I just found out that my best friend from college is expecting baby #2 (and I thought she was just “dieting” when she wouldn’t drink beer at our mutual friend’s wedding in August ;-).

Congratulations! I had my third child 5 weeks ago. And honestly — I think going from 2 to 3 has been the easiest. The hardest for me was 0-1! I think you will be in great shape adding that second babe. Best wishes!

Congrats! We have 2 same sex a year apart. They play together constantly and fight together just about as much. Its a very interesting dynamic their personalities take on given birth order and age gap – especially when you have two of the same.

    Yeah!
