I think Quizno's just ripped me off today because i used a coupon...I'm not really all that mad about it per se, but it has definitely piqued my curiousity now.

Like, do you think people DO in fact receive worse service by using coupons? And if so, would it ever stop you from using one again - at least in that store?


I have no proof that we were discriminated against today, but my hunch said we did. Here's a timeline of what went down, and you can decide for yourself. It all started at the presentation of this coupon in question - a "buy 1 sub get another sub 1/2 off" deal:

• At sight of coupon, the owner rolls his eyes. I don't know that he is, indeed, the head honcho, but I doubt a cashier would care all that much since they're getting paid no matter what. He also looked pretty damn perturbed, like we were flailing it around in his face or something.
• He then lets out a deep sigh - And not a "I hate my life" kind either, but more like a "you cheap a$$ customer, you are worthless" type. I dunno, maybe I'm reading too much into it....or maybe he just found out he's not getting any tonight ;) At the exact same time he received the coupon.
• The owner then pretends he can't find the "coupon button". (as if we were the first to ever use it) Gimme a break, you know exactly what's going on.
• En route to our office, I notice the bags are fairly lighter than usual...at least when we come back from Subway every week (ooooohhh that's right, i just named your #1 competitor!)
• At the office my colleague unwraps his sub, puts it in his mouth, and then yells - "What the Fart!" (edited) Followed by a "That A$$hole gypped me!" Needless to say, he was expecting a bit more chicken in his chicken carbonara.
• I then double check mine, and realize there are only 4 wimpy meatballs in it :( After I'm done crying, I scarf it down in 2 minutes - instead of my usual 5. It tasted good, but for ordering the largest size on the menu, I'd expect at *least* 4 balls per 1/2 sub. A guy needs his meat! (wow, that really sounds bad.)

So as you can see, I'm pretty sure we got screwed. But was it the coupon? And if not, how about the economy? Why else would we get stuck with lackluster meals after slappin' down $12+ dollars (after the discount)? While I hate to admit it, I'm afraid The Coupon may not always be our friend.

That doesn't mean I'm going to stop using them though, no siree. I wanna keep as much of my money as possible. I don't know about you, but I can endure a LOT for a discount. Even if it means not having sex....errrr, wait a sex. i mean sec. So that's not entirely accurate, but you get the point. A guy needs to save his hard earned money ;)

In fact, I may just need to form a committee to get to the bottom of this! The only way we'll figure out whether we're being treated unfairly is if we test this theory over and over again, and in different establishments. So the next time you go to use one, keep a sharp eye on the service you receive & report back to us. If we start noticing a negative trend here, I'll take it as far as i have to. After all, if WE don't stand up for our coupon lovers, who will?

As my loving mother always says, "it doesn't hurt to ask". And this time I'll agree with her :) Especially because she just tried this herself and came out with some pretty surprising results.

She wanted this fancy pants coffee maker but it was all sold out at Bed Bath and Beyond. So what does she do? She brings her clipped out coupon (showing the coffee maker at $20 off) into Best Buy and proudly finds a manager. Now, if I were accompanying her this is usually at this point where i'd be squirming and thinking stuff like, "geez mom, you ALWAYS do this!" or "this is SO embarassing!" like a little 13 y/o girl. Luckily though I wasn't there -my dad was. And like most men, he quietly walked away and just let her do her magic ;)

And what do ya know, it worked! The Manager gladly accepted it and offered her the best customer service she had hoped to receive. Wow, she is good. And so is that manager! Perhaps we can all get away with this stuff now that the economy is in shambles? Or maybe women are the only ones that could work this charm? I'd be curious to see the outcome if my mohawk'd self were to give it a try ;) Either way though, it's awesome. Good for you mom!

I can't promise you that it'll work at all stores, but there surely isn't any shame in at least TRYING to use a coupon at a competitor's store. After all, they'd much rather have your business. It may take a little talking or threating to leave the store, but if you've got the balls to try you just might save yourself some cash. Which is perfect, cuz then you can treat me to a few beers!

This "discount" is a bit weirder than their permanent gift card ones, but it'll definitely help some people out.

Especially those hardcore double-visitor types...and for once, that doesn't include me ;)

It expires September 2nd, just keep that in mind as I'll forget to remind you. Here's what you have to do to get this half-off discount:

1. Buy something earlier in the day (before 2pm)
2. Come back to the same store (after 2pm)
3. Show your receipt from the first visit.
4. and save $2+ dollars!

I just got this not-so-junky-mail in the mail today. It's a clean $5.00 off anything on their new website! It doesn't get any hotter than that my friends.

But back to this coupon I mention. While a free and clear $10.00 coupon SURE sounds nice, you know it comes with "ifs" and "buts" so here's the dilly, yo. This coupon grants you $10.00 off when you:

• Use it in the store (can't go online)
• Spend $75.00
• And you spend it on video games, or video game accessories

If you want this coupon, you have 2 ways to get it:

1. Grab mine! Be the first to say "mail that bad boy to me!" in a comment, and i'll contact you for your address and then drop it in the mail for ya ASAP.
2. Use this money hack - Go to Safeway this week (other groceries may work too but haven't tested) and purchase a $25 Best Buy giftcard. You *SHOULD* get this coupon printed out on the back of your receipt - and voila! If you have a Safeway card, swipe it too just to be sure... but i didn't, and it still worked. Just make sure you then use this gift card to help pay for your $75 purchase ;) Cuz if you don't, you will have then just spent $100 to save $10.00 - and that would just be pointless.

So, if you've been a good little boy, or girl for that matter, and have been patiently waiting for Halo 3 or Grand Theft Auto IV to go down, now's the time to pick 'em up!

I was just forwarded this email from California Tortilla:

I just want to remind you that tomorrow, Tuesday, April 15th, is Name Tag Day at all the California Tortillas in the land! That's right, when you purchase an entree and wear a name tag, preferably with your name on it, we'll give you a FREE chips and queso...
