Dear emails, stop trying to tempt me out of my money. Thx.

Remember the time i made a boo-boo and bought that bling water for $40.00? Well, that same company - Bling H20 - is at it again! I just got an email from them trying to pursuade my fragile little mind to pick up another bottle, although this time for a wopping $2,500! WOWZERS.

It's called the "Dubai Collection" and states (i kid you not) "because sipping pure prestige is the ultimate extravagance." hahahhaa....i love it. But you know what's crazy? People are actually buying this stuff! I mean, i fell for it once ;) But unlike the last time, you better believe i learned my lesson.

But that wasn't the only email begging me for money, oh no. Within 24 hours i had a slew of others in there just shaking with excitement! I don't know why it's that much of a suprise to me - i get them all the time - but i guess i'm just so used to them that it's hard to separate "real" mail with "junk/spam/ads" sometimes.

Here were some of the others:
  • Bed, Bath and Beyond - As if i needed any MORE 20% off coupons! I swear, we literally have over 50 of them jamming up one of our kitchen drawers. They're great when you need them (and somehow always hard to find?) but enough w/ the emails...sheesh.
  • Snapfish - "20 holiday cards for just 1ยข!". so yeah, this one i fell for ;)...but you see, it wasn't the 1 cent that got in my way, it was all the other stuff i picked up before checking out. I made it out pretty unscathed with only adding $15 to the purchase, but it wasn't easy!
  • Ebay seller - Asking if i wanted to pick up an additional warranty for the batteries i just picked up for the Mrs.' cell phone. (her's also likes to drain for no reason...but this time i knew how to fix it cheaply!). I think the 1 year already on them will suffice - especially considering the carriers can't promise they'll work after that anyways! arghh.....
  • *new* Kohls - I literally JUST got this as i went to publish this post! Amazing...this one was to alert me of a "sneak peek" for this friday's sales - and to remind us that we could get $10 back in Kohl's cash for every $50 we spend. Okay, so yeah - GREAT deal if you'd already planned to shop there, but if not it's surely got you thinkin' now...
So i fell for 1 of the 5 ads this go around - not that bad. It could have been worse, i could be out $2,500 had i gone for the Dubai special! But still, isn't it crazy the amount of ads we get every day? I bet if you checked right now there's be at least one or two just sneaking in trying to grab your attention...it's always okay to look, but be sure YOU'RE the one in control here, not them ;)

A whole mess of random goodness for ya today ;)

There's a lot on my brain this morning, but i can't seem to formulate paragraphs very well at the moment...so hopefully you don't mind the random listing of all my thoughts (I haven't had my beautiful coffee yet).

From my brain, to yours - here's what we got:

My man Baily, over at Thoughts from the Change Race, mentioned he has a few $5 Best Buy certificates he might be willing to part with! Not sure if you need to convince him or not, but if you're interested go ahead and leave him a comment on his latest blog posting. Tell him J from BAS sent you, and that he better treat you right ;)

It's another WOOT OFF baby! Not familiar? It's when Woot.com offers up a new product (usually electronic) at a REALLY cheap price until it sells out, and it then throws up another! It basically goes on for a good 24 hours, so if there's anything in particular you're looking for - like a stereo, memory card, watch, etc - keep hitting refresh throughout the day and more often than not you'll get lucky. Check out my Woot Post for more info.

Sometimes it's cool to track all the financial spam you get in the mail. And by "cool", i mean kinda "dorky", which really means "kinda cool". haha...Anyways, i've been keeping a list of this junk mail for a month or two, and some of it is actually pretty damn GOOD stuff. Here's everything i kept track of/remembered to keep track of, plus links to the companies:

  • Chase Visa Platinum card (#1) - 0% on all purchases and xfers until August 1st, 2009. No annual fee, and no xfer fee! 6.99% thereafter.
  • Chase Visa Platinum card (#2) - 0% on all purchases and xfers until September 1st, 2009. No annual fee, and no xfer fee! 7.49% thereafter. haha... it went up! Mrs. Budgetsaresexy actually gets these allllllllllll the time. Like once every 2 weeks!
  • Chase Pre-Approved Home Equity Loan - Zero closing costs, and offers up to PRIME - %0.76 APR when you pay off $50k from another HELOC.
  • Commerce Bank Pre-Approved Home Equity Loan - 4.24% + $100 bonus!!! No closing costs, nor annual fee. Sexy time for sure! (the
  • PETCO P.A.L.S. Coupon - 10% off our entire purchase. geared towards my fishy fish too, they are sneaky little marketers ;)

I was featured as an "editor's pick" again during this week's carnival season! I think that's my second or third time for me in a month - i'm on fire baby, someone put me out! Here are all those I participated in:

I thought i had something else to share, but i guess it slipped my mind...I think it had something to do w/ oranges? Oh well, probably best to get my coffee now ;)

Mortgage Late? Don't Wait!

maryland hope"You Have Options. We Can Help."

WOWWW, something in the mail that's actually NOT spam! haha... And not only that, but something that can potentially help people KEEP THEIR HOMES!

I applaud you Maryland, that is very impressive.

A state stepping up to help out those stuck in all this sub-prime mortgage mess ... you don't see that every day ;)

The flyer is sponsored by Maryland Hope (a division of The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development) and shows their call to action on the front "Act NOW! Before It's Too Late!", along w/ their toll-free Hotline and website. Then, on the back, it shows some of the services they offer:
  • Free nonprofit counseling in your community
  • Financial resources that can save your home from foreclosure.
  • Help with non-responsive loan servicers.
  • Mortgage fraud investigation
Not bad, right? And even if you DO end up chucking it, *hopefully* it will at least get you to stop and think about it. Whether you need the help, or not, though, I commend Maryland for giving it a shot. I personally had nooooooooooooo idea something like this existed, and had i been in trouble? Oh you better believe i'd be all over that website ;)

For more information on Maryland Hope, call their Hotline @ 1-877-462-7555 or visit their website: http://www.mdhope.org/
