The Last Day For Christmas Slackers!

I’m just gonna put it out there right away: I haven’t bought a single present for a single friend or a single family member/dog/cat/baby/blogging buddy/etc.

Not a thing.

Now, every year I SAY I’m going to be done by this time in the season and then blog about how big of a rock star I am, but the truth is I can never do anything important until I’m forced to [money aside]. Just like with college and papers, or studying for exams, and even taking the trash out every week (okay okay, that doesn’t take much effort at all, but still – the truck comes at a certain time and if your trash ain’t out there it ain’t getting picked up!). And it’s only getting worse since being self-employed…

But you know what? I think I’m okay with this. Do I always get the job done in the end? YUP. Do I pass all those tests and clean all them dishes? Ayup. Are all the presents and thoughts just as good as everyone else’s? I think so? So what’s the big deal? ;)

Well, in a word, it’s STRESSFUL. We get our $hit done, but man does those last hours of truth get a bit hairy while cramming it in. I don’t know what it feels like to be finished weeks, or even days, ahead, but I imagine it’s a lot more comfortable than rushing around like a mad man surrounded by *other* mad men too! That’s actually the funniest part about Christmas shopping on the Eve – it’s all dudes everywhere! :)

Anyways, if you’re wondering why I’m slow to respond today, or you don’t see my chipper face on Twitter/Facebook/Pinterest/Whatev, that’s where I’ll be. The mall. And Kohls. And Target. And TJ Maxx. And any other place that’s smart enough to stay open today and grab all our lamos’ money.

It’s not gonna be pretty, but it has to be done! And plus, doesn’t it make YOU feel a lot better knowing there’s idiots like us around? So at least there’s that :) But please – feel free to tell me you’re in the same boat and perhaps we’ll cross each other in the stores…

I’ll be the one looking like this:

Oh no! I dedicate an entire website to keeping people AWAY from the mall!!!!

Be safe, my friend. They’re out to get in your wallet, haha! I’m sure they’re no match for you though.

    Merry Christmas, my friend.

Haha… I may have no choice but to give in to them a little at this point – it’s what I get for waiting so long ;)

This is my brother through-and-through. He despises shopping, and the mall,… and then ends up there on one of the worst days to be there when everyone is stressed, frantic, and time-crunched.

Good Luck – you are braver than I.

Perhaps he’ll be the one handing me over the cigarettes today. Even though I don’t smoke ;)

Just a “heads up” Kohls has a stellar $10 off anything coupon that I got by way of e-mail. Aaaand you only have to spend $10….aaand jewelry is deeply discounted…well it was a couple of days ago….From what I saw and what I heard this shopping season was less than fantastic…soooo you may actually benefit from waiting to shop and may indeed be a “rockstar”….Merry Xmas…

I do like to think there are some special only-for-us-slackers deals out there today. I’ll be finding out in about an hour once everything starts opening up!

    Uhoh!

Two ways we try to remove additional stress is a $50 limit and then we gave gifts early on Thursday night last week. We had to travel a bunch for Christmas and weren’t going to be home until after Christmas. This forced me to plan ahead and buy the stuff online a few weeks in advance!

I like that idea :) Unfortunately what makes it trickier is that we both have birthdays around Christmas so we get that part done early, and then BAM! Time to rock it all over again, haha… at least it forces me out of the house and off the computer for a bit :)

If we had been smarter, we would have gone over the weekend when everything was 10% off :(

I’m totally the opposite haha. I usually buy all my stuff online super early so I can enjoy the holidays without all the stress. I do procrastinate taking out the garbage though. And a lot of other things :)

Good luck today! You know I’ve been done for a while, but I haven’t wrapped any of Santa’s gifts yet. It’s a special sort of tradition … ne stress … I like to leave for Christmas Eve.

Kohl’s has been open 24 hours for a few days now, so you can go over there whenever you’re out of your PJ’s today ;) (and if you ordered anything from Kohl’s recently, you probably also have a $25 off coupon in your email too)

Hah! Had no idea they were open so much like that – love ’em for it though. I successfully got EVERYTHING done within 4 hours on Christmas Eve – was pretty proud of myself for that :) Then, the 5th hour I wrapped everything and voila!

Amazon for the win! My wife pretty much did all the shopping, put things in the cart then asked me what I thought. Pretty much “awesome sauce” as the kids say.

Whoa…super procrastinator!!!! Well good luck! I would not want to be in your shoes:P I got all my shopping done right after Thanksgiving:P Shopping through the year helps a ton. Also…you can always buy gifts after the holidays…lots of sales on gift sets after Christmas. This works well if you’re not seeing these certain people til after Christmas…or they’re very understanding people!

In an effort to not let Christmas overrun Thanksgiving in my life, I ended up waiting too long to even decide what I was getting for people. I took my two boys to help last minute shopping yesterday and today. On the bright side, they enjoyed helping pick out gifts for grandparents! :)
