Random Friday Awesome Snippet Edition

AKA I couldn’t come up with anything special to blog about today, so I took AWESOME stuff from around the ‘net to still bring you some financial goodness ;) You’re welcome.

Random Awesome Nugget #1:

Let’s start out with a funny joke, shall we?

“A priest announced to his congregation: “I have good news and bad news. The good news is, we have enough money to pay for our new building program. The bad news is, it’s still out there in your pockets.”

And now, a smarty pants comment left by Anna on my 13 Clever Ways to Save More Money post
last week – even though the post is almost one year old ;)

“Once we paid one (car) off, we applied the payment for the now paid off vehicle onto the principal of the one owing. Once we paid the cars off, we did the same thing to the mortgage on the house. We now have no debt and the amounts we were paying for the house and cars goes into savings and retirement accounts. The same technique can be used to get yourself out of debt and into savings, whatever your debt may be. It takes discipline and being willing to live below your means. The peace of mind of knowing you owe no one and have a good amount of money in the bank and for retirement is worth every bit of effort.”

YES!!! The debt snowball at it’s finest!

A snippet from this really feisty (and fascinating!) blog post by Paula of Afford Anything:

The internet took away all the jobs? Are you freakin’ serious? That shows a serious lack of imagination. If you love your job, that’s fantastic. But please, please, don’t ever sell yourself short by doubting your power to create your own job.”

Random Nugget of Awesome #4:

And lastly, one of Trent’s awesome business card doodles that we should all print off!

Happy Friday!

Random nugget #2 is exactly what my husband and I started doing, except replace car loans with student loans!! Even though we technically have 27 years left on our mortgage, we should (hopefully, if all goes as planned) have everything paid off in 11-12 years!!
