The Perfect Credit Card.

world of warcraft credit cardIs there such a thing? :) I’m not sure to be honest with you, BUT today we’re going to pretend and say YES!  There IS a perfect credit card out there, we just haven’t told the world what it is yet!  So let’s do something about that shall we?

Here is your form to fill out – which I stole from Dinks Finance because it is awesome and clever and all sorts of exciting for financial nerds like ourselves:

I wish my credit card had _________
I hate that my credit card has _________
I wish I could pay for __________ with my credit card
I always use my credit card to purchase _________ because __________

I’m going first because it’s my game:

  • I wish my credit card had a shut off valve. Like, whenever it smells alcohol on my breath it only allows me to spend $20 max!
  • I hate that my credit card has expiration dates. It is soooo annoying to go back and update everything every other year.  Why can’t they just last forever? (security, i know i know… blah blah)
  • I wish I could pay for my mortgage with my credit card! That would be over TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS a month almost doubling the reward points I’d get!!!  Man that would be awesome.
  • I always use my credit card to purchase everything i possibly can because i use my credit card as a budget! Bitch! Haha… can you tell I’m feeling feisty today? But seriously, I would honestly be one happy man if I could use just 1 piece of plastic to pay for every single thing in my life.  It’s total convenience in my pocket!  (fyi though, this is *not smart* for those who know you’re bad at paying off your bills and staying on top of it.  you all should stick w/ cash & debit.  and on the plus side, you will probably end up spending less than people like myself since there’s always those studies whic show you save like 20% more by not using credit cards.)

Okay, your turn :)  If someone was customizing a credit card just for you, what would you want from it?  Feel free to add in your own lines for us to fill in too – if I catch some new ones I’ll update my list w/ ’em.  W00T!

Love that you want a Breathalyzer on your card. Man, I could have saved so much money a while back if my card had one of those.

I wish my credit card had a 3 question sequence before I could sign for the purchase. It would say “do you really want this?, do you really need this? and Are you sure?”
I hate that my credit card has to be paid back.
I wish I could pay for [I use it for most stuff already, so nothing] with my credit card
I always use my credit card to purchase Gas because I buy a lot of gas and because of the rewards! Free International Flight here I come!

I wish my credit card had Someone else paying it off
I hate that my credit card has me having to pay when I use it
I wish I could pay for anything with my credit card
I always use my credit card to purchase gas&electricity because I only got it to improve my credit score and safely buy gas&electricity online(well, more safely than my debit card).

J, couldn’t you use those checks that come every so often to pay your mortgage with? I don’t use credit cards so I don’t know all the details, but it seems like that would be a way around it?

HAH! Clever thinking, I will give you that, but unfortunately you’ll then start accruing interest ASAP. And if you have a shoddy bank (which let’s face it is 90% of them out there) you’ll be charged 17%, 20%, maybe even 30% interest! It’s insane.

But I did purchase my car on credit card using check, so it IS technically possible ;)

USAA charges you one rate no matter if it’s a “cash advance,” like these credit card checks are, or if you just swiped it for gas and let your balance carry over. So you’re kinda on the right track!

I suck! I don’t have a credit card. That doesn’t mean I’m financially stable. It just means that my wife and I don’t use credit cards well. So we know our limitations. But that WoW VISA is pretty sweet. Is that real?

I am pretty happy with my credit card! The only thing I wish I could do with it is use it on my web bill pay to pay the bills that don’t automatically get paid on it. I also would like double points at the places I shop the most!

I would love a credit card that flash it’s current balance before I used it– and I mean right on some tiny computer screen installed in the corner of the card so that I would not have to log on my computer/mobile phone, or do some quick calculation in my head. That would deter me from spending on a ton of useless items.

@Que – I would say you’re more AWESOME than sucky for not having a credit card. That’s pretty hard to do ;) And I wouldn’t want to! haha… Oh, and I have nooooo idea of that WoW credit card is real or not. I just liked it in the Flickr pics cuz it was hilarious ;)
@Liz – oh yeah – double points would be hot.
@Me, Myself, and Money – ooooh i want that too!!! very smart idea. i wonder if anyone is currently working on something like that? they’d have to be, right?

I wish my credit card had a specific spending limit I could set. If I wanted to exceed the limit then it would only be available through specific security questions no matter what.
I hate that my credit card has an interest rate.
I wish I could pay for everything with my DEBIT card and came with the online safety perks as a credit card. Although online bill pay with my bank rocks, a debit card is just easier at times.
I always use my credit card to purchase big purchases because it is safer online and usually comes with great perks, as long as it gets paid off right away.

I wish I could pay for life with my credit card.
I always use my credit card to purchase Netflix because cheap an automatic.

I’m pretty happy with my credit card right now. It’s a simple cash back card with no annual fee. If I could customize it though, I’d up the percentage I’d get back for the cash back.

Wish I could pay rent through credit card as well instead of cheque. I’d love the extra money every month.

I am with Bucksome. It’s a neat looking card – that could be dangerous. No Cc for me yet there. I still don’t completely trust myself with it yet.

Kristina, if you would buy those at a drug store, you could charge them all.

I love the list. I really don’t care what my credit card looks like so long as it is accepted for my purchases.

I’m the same way. I wish I could pay for EVERYTHING on my credit card. I calculated the rate of return as 1% which is pretty good, and I put my hotel apartment on there, I put all of our plane tickets.. it’s incredible how fast the points rack up.

I currently have no credit cards because I have just (and by just I mean two years ago) have joined the pay down your debt movement! I only use my debit card and cash, which proves to be difficult, but I finally make just barely over what I owe, so I can live cheap and still actually pay minimums on bills.

When I had a credit card it would have been something like this…

I wish my credit card had a no clothing buying lock.
I hate that my credit card has(had) such a high limit on it.
I wish I could pay for bills with my credit card (because I had so many!)
I always use (used) my credit card to purchase clothes and food and beer because all my friends were always cute and going out to drink and I got jealous if I couldn’t go out with them.

Haha… i can’t believe that WoW is real! Good find Ken.

Sorry for all those who had trouble commenting and got back the “too spammy” error message. I think it was actually because every sentence up there contained the word “credit card” and wordpress thought y’all were promoting that ish all over ;) oops! it wasn’t me, i promise.

Glad some of you were able to comment though – loved hearing your different takes on it. Happy Sunday!

I wish my credit card had a TV screen on it. It’s just the right size, and would come in handy when I forget to charge my cellphone.

I hate that my credit card has tiny letters that I can’t read when trying to give the expiry date over the telephone. Makes me sound stupider than I am.

I wish I could pay for my mortgage with my credit card, I’ve been saying that for years.

I always use my credit card to purchase everything I can because I don’t carry cash (curse you, parking lot attendants!)

I wish my credit card had 10% Cash Back
I hate that my credit card has any APR
I wish I could pay for bills/rent with my credit card
I always use my credit card to pay for anything because I’d get 10% on spending my own money since, apart from an intro rate, I pay in full every month.
