Today I feel _______ towards money.

dollar sign on brickSaw this over at My Pretty Pennies this week and couldn’t help but to copy it ;) It’s Friday after all, and it’s just so fun! (and by fun, I mean very very nerd-like and something you only do online so none of your “real life” friends catch you.)

Plus, it’s always good to take a fresh look at how your week is going with this stuff. Money can take on a whole mind of its own sometimes, so reflecting for a bit can help!

Shall we begin?

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on _____.
My plane ticket to Poland: $829.20.
And then probably the $50 I slapped on my Metro Card.

2. Today I feel _______towards money.
EXCITED!  Sometimes I get frustrated with it, or even bored with it all (*gasp!*) but lately? Just plain ol’ excited.  Cuz I’ve seen first hand what it can do ;)

3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was_____________.
Go on a walk around a lake.  There’s nothing I enjoy more than refreshing up the brain with some clean air and a little exercise. Well okay, actually I’d have to put sex in that category too, but that’s not always free now is it? (bah dum, ching!)

4. I will consider this week a success if I _____________.
Don’t spend any more on alcohol!  Not only for my wallet, but mainly for my body.  It ain’t the nubile 20 year old like it used to be.  Next on the list would have to be investing in Kiva entrepreneurs.  You like how I prioritize that? :)

5. My first job was ______________.
Oh wow, that’s a good question… If I do recall correctly, my very first job was babysitting, followed by mowing lawns, and then more “professionally” as a night stocker at a grocery store :)  Then came midnight shift at the bowling alley, bread stick boy, GadZooks worker, and on and on…. but really you just needed that 1st answer ;)

Your turn! Copy and paste this below and just fill in the blanks (or make long drawn out answers too – whatever you’re in the mood for ;))

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on _____.
2. Today I feel _______towards money.
3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was_____________.
4. I will consider this week a success if I _____________.
5. My first job was
______________.

HAPPY FRIDAY everyone!!!  Get that money!

    1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on car insurance, but I saved 15% by switching to Geiko (I actually did save by switching to Geiko…).
    2. Today I feel in control of my money.
    3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was – took a nap.
    4. I will consider this week a success if I stay positive – everything else will work itself out that way.
    5. My first job was running a cash register before school at 5 years old (my mom brought me to work with her and wouldn’t let me enter the amount tendered, so I learned to handle money at a very early age! Go mom!).

    1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on my $72 electric bill, but I spent over $1,000 on two new suits last week. It hurt me.
    2. Today I feel like I’ve spent a lot of money in the last month.
    3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was walk around the city of Boston. What a great town.
    4. I will consider this week a success if I record my next personal finance song this weekend without making my neighbors hate me. They’re always banging on the walls just because I’m singing loudly and poorly at all hours of the day.
    5. My first job was a lifeguard. My coworkers hated me because I was 15 and they would offer to give me rides home, but I’d keep them waiting forever because I would keep finding stuff to do so I could get a few extra minutes “on the clock”.

    1. The most I’ve spent this last week was $275.67 for my car payment.
    2. Today I feel better towards money. I think I’m starting to get control over my finances.
    3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was Played Tailsman with all the expansions with some friends.
    4. I will consider this week a success if I don’t spend any more money going out to eat.
    5. My first job was mowing yards. My first real job was in a mail and fax room.

    Haha…. these are great!

@Nick – hahhaha….omg you crack me up man. Geico can be pretty good (although never better than USAA!)
@Andi B. – That was fast :) and Hot Dog Eating Contest?!! AWESOME!
@Kevin @ Thousand-aire.com – Haha, that is awesome. Keep the songs coming!
@Brandon – I never did the mail/fax room thing, but I must admit it intrigues me since you get to meet everyone in the company working in that spot. So must have been killer for networking!

    1. The most I’ve spent this last week $480 for a new radiator (and an oil change) for my car. It’s the first repair I’ve done on the car since buying it new in 2001, so I don’t feel all that bad about the expense. Thanks Hyundai!
    2. Today I feel cautiously optimistic towards money. Today is payday, and there’s a lot of choices to be made.
    3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was riding my bike to work. I also got some really good books from the library and I’ve been enjoying those immensely.
    4. I will consider this week a success if I resolve some issues with my spouse. If we could have fun too, that’d be a bonus.
    5. My first job was (other than babysitting) working at a telephone survey company. Sort of a Gallup poll thing. I lasted a month.

@J. Money Not as much as you’d think. It was a small business and my aunt and uncle owned. It was just a HS/College job. Some of my best networking actually came from being a shift manager at a McAlister’s Deli during college. Between the catering and working the floor I met nearly everyone worth meeting in town and they all saw my excellent work ethic. Don’t underestimate the scrub jobs. lol

    1. The most I’ve spent this last week was booking the condo for my upcoming girls’ long weekend ($1050). There are 9 of us so my share is only $116 and I’ll be reimbursed next weekend by the others but I get the 1050 flight miles on my card.
    2. Today I feel like I’m the master of my money.
    3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was purging and reorganizing my front hall closet. Packed up a full garbage bag of coats, boots, hats and mittens for charity. Glad to know they are going to be used by others now that our weather is starting to get colder.
    4. I will consider this week a success if I “shop” in my overly full freezer and pantry and cut my weekly grocery bill by at least half.
    5. My first job was cleaning my parents house. When I wanted a PT job my parents offered me the job and I took over from the cleaning lady they had been using. The didn’t want me out flipping burgers for minimum wage on school nights (and I suspect they didn’t want to drive me) so I spent my Saturdays cleaning.

One free/inexpensive thing I did this week was go over to my best friend’s new rental house, (about a mile away from me! YAY!) and hang out with our new “blended” family

Can survive without losing my mind…or crying.

    5. My first job was ______________.

    4. I will consider this week a success if I get off today at 6… or earlier?
    5. My first job was a cashier at Giant Eagle. Had to wear these horrible big green smocks and hated it when big guys would just watch as a small little girl packed up their heavy groceries for them…but oh well. It paid minumum wage..5.15 back then!!! But it was a start!

    3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was setting up the scanner and printer on my work laptop so that I can telecommute on the weekends.
    4. I will consider this week a success if I don’t eat out this weekend. I’ve been going out to get lunch on the weekends because it gets lonely being the only person in the office; but if I telecommute then I won’t have that problem.
    5. My first job was as an English conversation partner at a Japanese university.

Thanks J Money – I know! I’m trying desperately to get USAA car insurance. My father in law was in the service, so I’m trying to convince him to join and then my wife can join and qualify for the car insurance. I joined, but just as a joker off the street, so I’m not eligible for a lot of the savings I guess…

Those are the cheaper cigarettes, 10 packs to a carton for two smokers. I don’t like to buy them often, so I buy the quantity at once. Most of that cost is tax – tax is most of the sale price, and tax is added afterwards. I think it’s a great time to quit.

J, I moved just over 3 months ago from Windsor, ON, right across from Detroit.

Jobs are hard to come by anywhere, but especially there, one of the highest unemployment rates in the Canada I believe. It is getting better, but the city depends on the auto sector too much.

I’ve only been walking around my neighbourhood of late, but I want to get walking downtown again, it’s about a 40 minute ride there, but well worth it.

    1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on a Hotel Room (4 nights in Times Square for $500.00-Priceline rocks!).
    2. Today I feel ambivalent towards money. Just not something I care about. I don’t mean to sound like a pr*ck but I have plenty of money. There are far more important things to concern myself with. That said, I used to be all hung up on money and that probably helped me somewhat.
    3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free/inexpensive thing I did last week that made me happy was do a Diet Coke/Mentos experiment with my daughters. Great fun! Also, cutting a rather large check for Community Ministries (local food bank) made me feel like a million bucks. There is no better feeling in the world.
    4. I will consider this week a success if I encourage, love, support and spend time with my family. That is what makes life worthwhile for me!
    5. My first job was working at a bicycle shop when I was 9. I worked toward buying a Mongoose BMX bike. Took about 6 months of after school chain greasing, tire changing and bike assembly. Totally worth it. Mongoose was THE bike to have.
