Take This $150 and Spend it on Your Valentine! Or, Yourself. [Or, your dog/mom/mailman]

Yup, it’s GIVEAWAY time! One of you lucky Valentines lovers (haters?) will win a $150 Visa card to enjoy as your heart desires.

You can use it for a sexy little date night (emphasis on *sexy*), blow it all on a gift for your significant other, or, simply treat yourself to a fun shopping spree because that’s how you roll. There shall be no judging here today, friends – I’m simply the bearer of good fortunes!

And, speaking of good fortunes, let me take a few seconds to first thank RetailMeNot.com who’s powering this giveaway for us today. Not only are they the world’s largest digital coupon marketplace, but if you use them wisely you could possibly stretch that $150 gift card to well over $200 using their coupons!

Here are some of the good ones straight off their Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas page:

And here’s another fun fact for you: RetailMeNot Inc. went public recently (July, 2013) and you can now buy stock in them if interested :) Their ticker symbol? “SALE” haha… Pretty dope.

How to Win This $150 Visa Card

Want a shot at winning this? Answer these two questions below…

  1. How would you use this $150?
  2. Which coupon at RetailMeNot.com would you use to help stretch it? (Click on over to their homepage and find one. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, tell us what it is instead)

Here’s how I’m going to use mine I’m getting (they gave me a gift card for giving you all a gift card – cool, huh?): Take Mrs BudgetsAreSexy out for dinner, then show her the website I made just for her called MrsBudgetsAreSexyIsSexy.com*. Which I’ll get for only $2.95 using this coupon from RetailMeNot ;) I’m so slick… (you’re not reading this, are you honey?)

Your turn! Answer BOTH questions in the comments below, and we’ll randomly pick the winner by Sunday night, Feb 9th, so we can ship it off to the winner in time for V-Day. Giveaway open to US residents only, 18 and up (sorry foreign friends!) GOOD LUCK!

*What’s going to be ON this website, you ask? Oh, a hunky man (me) holding up a sign that will read “I Love You.” And, if clicked, will then say “You’re getting lucky tonight, girl!” in my best Ryan Gosling voice.

***GIVEAWAY NOW OVER***
Congratulations to Cedes (commenter #102)! You’re the proud new owner of a $150 Visa gift card! Happy Refrigerator Day!

I would use the $150 in Europe during my upcoming vacation! :)

I use retailmenot all of the time when shopping online and off. They always have awesome coupons that I’ve used at places like Macy’s, Hancock Fabrics, and Nordstrom. I can’t think of a coupon I need right now, but they are definitely the first place I look when I do need one.

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

I just used retailmenot yesterday to get a coupon code for 6pm. They saved me $6 on a jacket for my daughter. Yeah!

oooh I would use the $150 at Blue Nile for myself. I have 3 piercings in each ear and sadly only 2 pairs of diamonds. 1 pair is nice and tiny (which I love), 1 pair is low quality and small, both came from my mom (what a love she is!). Depending on the price I would either use the code you posted above, or there is also a 30% off + free shipping code. There’s also always Kohls shopping codes on there and they have jewelry.

I hate Valentine’s Day. I don’t need a forced day to show my wife that I love her. If I’m not doing that constantly, I am failing at my husbandly job :)

That aside, I love surprising my wife (I do it often) and she would never suspect something on Valentine’s Day because the only thing I do each year for Valentine’s Day is make dinner :)

I really like the Anti-Valentine’s Day Piñata. I would totally get that and probably the 2 Movie Tickets and $100 Restaurant.com egift card for $30.

I would use it to buy a marine GPS. I am trying to create a really detailed and accurate map of the dive sites I frequent. I will then give the map to all my fellow divers. Yeah!!

Since I am a GIS Analyst, I am hoping this side-project will improve some skills that I can use to better my job position. (namely, I want to get into 3-d mapping.)

I would look at all the electronic coupons such as Best Buy and Ebay to see where I can get the best deal.

I would take my wife out to a nice dinner with wine, drinks and without the kids. We have increased savings and nights like that will be fewer as we try to reach our new early retirement goals. With the remainder I would get a gift card from retailmenot as I never pick clothes that she likes.

Thanks to you and all the other early retirement bloggers out there for the new found inspiration.

    1) I’m not a fan of V-Day but I do have a first date with someone this weekend that I have wanted to take out for awhile. Casual fun first date, but $150 could certainly help me take date #2 up a notch

    2) Coupon – she and I have talked about doing a DC race so perhaps the Nike.com card for some running gear and FTD to have some flowers for her when she crosses the finish line.

I would use $150 to grab a pair of tickets to a show at the Fox in Atlanta! There are a few fun things playing in the next few months, as well as some comedians we’d like to see – and since we really don’t spend money to celebrate Valentine’s Day, it’d be a nice treat :)

Although I have to be honest, I’d probably snag on of the 30% your entire purchase coupons for H&M and spend a little bit of that $150 there..

I would use the $150 to buy things needed to better organize our new apartment. RetailMeNot Canada’s website tells me that I can save 40% off one item at Micheal’s craft store – they have a lot of DIY projects that could help with organization, too. Thanks!

I would use the $150 for groceries. When I look for or use online discount codes such as RetailMeNot, it is when I am ready to make a purchase – that usually ends up to be when I am renewing a domain registration, but I have or would use that site to find a code for buying something like shoes where I already happen to be. No coupon code makes me use a particular merchant, but I use them after the purchase decision has already been made.

For example, edible arrangements (delish!), maybe an awesome website where she can showcase her art (she’s an amazing painter), I’ll order her a pizza on a night when she’s wishing I were home to whip up some yummy food for her, surprise her by coming up on a weekend and taking her out to dinner and a movie a la restaurant.com.

So not original, given the comments above, but I would use it to go out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. Since our tradition is burgers and ice cream, that should leave plenty leftover to buy our the entire aisle at Walgreen’s the next day. :)

And I generally use retailmenot when I’m buying clothes online – always check for deals for Anthropologie and J Crew!

I’m planning a wedding so I’d love to use the cash along with a Michael’s coupon to help offset costs.

I want to get my husband a skiing jacket. I want to use the REI coupons to help offset the cost.

We could really use some more clothes, so I would use it toward them, and I’d look for a JCP or Sears coupon on retailmenot. I use that website all the time!

I would get myself some nice clothes with the Aeropostale, Kohl’s, and Macy’s coupons on RetailMeNot.

The microwave went out before Christmas. I would use the 20% off Best Buy for a microwave and use the rest to buy hubby a nice fishing pole for V -day!

I think mine is pretty lame, but my wife would love it.

I would use it to purchase heat. We are currently using a few small space heaters and with the weather we have been having, she has been freezing. I plan to get central heat, so this would definitely help us get there sooner.

I’d probably use the $150 to go on a date with my hubby. We have three kids (newest one is only 3 months) so we don’t get a lot of time to ourselves. As for the retailmenot coupon, I’m guessing I’d use the carter’s coupon to buy cute new clothes for the adorable 3 month old!

Id use it on a new laptop! Mine is really showing its age. And since I’ve been looking at laptops on Amazon, that amazon coupon is perfect for me :)

Dick’s Sporting Goods is where the money would go– on some new workout clothes for my boyfriend and I. We’re on a healthy living kick! RetailMeNot usually has some great Dick’s coupons to stretch the money too!

I would use the $150 to pay some bills. I know that is the boring answer, but it’s true.

I use retailmenot every time I purchase something online to make sure that I am not throwing away money.

I would use the $150 to invest in 1-2 pairs of quality shoes for myself – I am so tired of cheap flats that have no support and make my back hurt by the end of the day! I would stretch my $$$ by using the Starbucks offer on retailmenot – you get a free drink when you join the rewards program! I love getting to know new coworkers by taking them out to coffee and by joining a rewards program, I could stretch my $$$ even further!

    1. A plane ticket for my husband to come and visit me while I’m traveling for work!

    2. Southwest or United coupon would help stretch the $$ nicely.

Me and my partner never really celebrate Valentine’s Day. Even after almost 14 years. Just another day on the calendar for us both. If I were to win, I’d would just split the $150 between us both so we could each pick up a little something for ourselves.

I would probably take advantage of the Best Buy 20% off small appliance coupon from ReatilMeNot and put It toward the purchase of an Keurig Brewer since I’ve been wanting one for quite some time now, but didn’t want to spend a fortune on one either.

I would use it to buy new work clothes! Recently employed with my first “real” job, and only have nice winter clothes. Time to start thinking about spring and summer! Kohl’s, Macy’s, anything along those lines on RetailMeNot works for me!

Having been laid off, the $150 would go towards purchasing some quality interview outfits. My last position allowed use to wear jeans daily, so my professional wardrobe is lacking. I’d probably use Retailmenot’s discount codes for Macy’s and Banana Republic so I can stretch my money and be ready for any corporate interviews.

I would use it to to buy an upcoming birthday gift for my husband, a tool, most likely; I like the RMN coupon for Kohls: Extra 15% off storewide! Love that store.
