As I’m sitting here typing, I feel like crap and my nose and eyes seem like they have an endless supply of water stored up in my face. I don’t know what happened in the past 24 hours, but needless to say I’m sick as a dogg. (spelled just like Snoop would have it) But as I sit here sneezing all over my keyboard, I can’t help but wonder how much I’d pay to get right back to my normal healthy self again? $100? $200? $500??
It doesn’t really matter as we all know, though, cuz no matter HOW filthy rich we are (or wish to be one day!), there’s never a way to just make all your problems disappear with money. At least when it comes to head colds. So number 1 on the list money can’t buy is HEALTH. It can help get you the best drugs and medicines (and doctors) around, but it can’t fix your problem in a snap as, say, paying a bill would. And that just plain sucks. You don’t even wanna know how much I’d be willing to dish out right now to be chipper again :(
Number 2 on this super official list of mine, is brains. You just can’t get out there and pick up an extra set of smarty cells like you could with a computer or a car, or anything else inanimate. Human upgrades come from time, and always taking on new experiences and desires to learn. You can always pay for schooling and books, and everything else that *helps* us learn and become smarter individuals, but just like with health you can’t drop a pile of benjamins and magically start thinking better. Which makes us awesome, and scary, at the same time (like when people want to skip ahead in life the fast way, either by cheating or stealing, or God forbid killing. Important stuff takes time – get it through your head!)
And then of course, lastly, we have Love. You’ve said it before, I’ve said it before, and even those crazy Brits, The Beatles, have sung it all before :) Money can do a loooooot of powerful and exciting stuff, but it can never earn you true love or friendships. That comes from being the best YOU that you can be (I’m getting all sappy in my sickness!). It may help you dress better, and impress better w/ that fancy ride or reservation, but at the end of the day people connect directly to PEOPLE – not cash. All the money in the world doesn’t grant you the gift of relationships, you’ve got to build those up and nurture ’em just like you do with that brain of yours.
So my 3 thoughts for the day are:
- Appreciate your health. Exercise when you can, eat well, and just do your all-time best to pay attention to your body (ow ow!)
- Keep learning! The more you seek what you don’t know, the stronger and sexier your brain gets!
- And lastly, always be yourself. Whenever I’ve tried acting like someone else to get a girl, or the better job, or whatever cockamany thing I was after, I’ve failed miserably. And to be honest, it’s not worth keeping up even IF you get lucky and achieve that master prize at the end. It’s much better to embrace the skills and traits that you do have (or don’t have) and just continue doing your best. People gravitate toward sincere people, and it takes all kinds to make this world go around :)
Boy, I get so philosophical when I’m sick. Who knew? Haha… but now if you’d be so kind as to pardon me, I’m gonna hop off this computer and go drink lots of fluids and rest up like a bunch of you are about to yell at me about :) But unfortunately money doesn’t help keep this blog running either – unless you know of another J. Money I can borrow?
