What do you need more of in your life right now? [poll]

Every now and then I like to randomly poll people on Twitter.

Here was the latest one I pasted up purely out of curiosity :)

twitter pollI assumed “money” would hit the top ring there, but nope! It was “time”!!

Which ironically money helps get you more of :)

On the flip side, one out of every 5 people said they were “actually good” on all of these which was also pretty surprising. Usually there’s *something* you’re struggling with at any given point of time, so to be good with three major areas like this means you’ve either figured out the Game of Life or are lying! Haha.. And if it’s the former – WE WANT TO HEAR ALL YOUR SECRETS!!! ;)

As nice as it is to be able to check off all three though, I feel like as long as you can hit 2 of them you’re likely headed down the right path. With money and love you can probably find ways to free up more time, while if you have plenty of time and money you can probably focus more on finding love – even if it’s not always/ever in your control. Likewise, if you have plenty of love and time you have the ability to harness some of that into more income generating opportunities!

The problem of course lies in only hitting one – or even none – of these :( People were joking that they needed an “all of the above” option in the poll, but hopefully that’s all it was as it’s not a fun position to be in. And in either case – it’s good to be surrounding yourself with like-minded *positive* people if you are struggling! So you remain as hopefull as possible and know it’s all do-able – which it is!

I saw a great quote the other week that I wish everyone could see:

“There’s never enough money to do things perfectly, but there’s always enough money to make a start.”

You can swap in *any* of these variables above (money, love, time) and it would still make sense. Except for maybe the love part ;) But it is true that ALL OF US have enough money or time to get the ball rolling!! Even if just minimally day in and day out. Habit breeds great change!!

You just have to start. And then not give up.

I joke with people that the only reason this blog is still going is because I refuse to miss a scheduled blog post or else it’s all down hill from there, and the same could very well be said with my money. Most days/articles aren’t anything to write home about, but *collectively* over a long period of time it becomes something much greater than itself. A “collection” of thoughts and cents, if you will – all strung together by daily action and a refusal to give up!

And if there’s one thing to be stubborn about, it’s that ;) Not giving up!! Something we all know deep down, but still good to be reminded of.

Anyways, nothing too mind blowing here today, just wanted to share in case you’re a lover of random polls too ;) And if you didn’t get a chance to answer it, go ahead and do so now!

What do YOU need more of in your life right now?
Money, love, time – or are you actually good these days?

Whatever your answer, keep going strong and know we’ve always got your back :) You can reach out anytime here.

Peace of mind is always a beautiful thing :)

In fact – some say it’s the key to true happiness?

I’m actually good in all three of these. But I’d also have to add that my prioritization in all three of these are lacking. I don’t “need” more money right now but I’m still giving up time and love (time spent toward love) to gain more money because I’m not at a point where I won’t need it later in life. I don’t “need” more time yet I spend time on things that don’t bring joy or value into my life. I don’t “need” more love, yet I don’t focus as much as I should on the relationships I have in my life to show them my love and appreciation and continue to grow those relationships. I whine at different times about having to go to work or not having enough time to get things done or not having stronger relationships, but if I looked at my daily ledger of focus, it’s all in my control to change. And I do, but then it’s like that game where the magician puts the ball under the cup and mixes them up and you have to pick the right cup. But, as you say, just start and don’t give up!

Haha – that’s a perfect analogy for this ;) Hard to have that balance day in and day out but so long as we’re hitting it *many* of the days it’s hard to hate on it too much! And I find putting barriers into play for certain areas helps out a lot too (like not allowing myself to work nights or weekends anymore, or making sure date night happens at least once a month/etc… (though I feel like it should be *once a week*!!! That’s what I’d love to be able to pull off!)

Can we get an option for Pizza? Or maybe Cowbell? FR tho, I guess all of this is based on ones personal definition of enough. I would actually expect time to have a much larger margin with a greater population size for the survey.

I’m guilty of not optimizing my time, Instead of paying someone to mow my lawn (for example) I went out and bought a brand new zero turn. When you take into account my hourly rate, I don’t think this purchase will ever pay for itself but we all have our hang ups, and I refuse to pay other people to do stuff that I am perfectly capable of doing. You ever hear the phrase “a man should mow his own lawn” , well that’s how I feel, logic be damned. Also, I fear the example I would set for my boys, there are too many people afraid to do their own work, so much so that its not a cost benefit matter, its the fact that they actually just don’t know how to do anything beyond the limited scope of their profession.

Hey – I’m the same way with lawns! And unless you’re literally going to be taking on more work for that 1-2 hours instead of mowing it, you’re not actually earning/saving anything. So I like to think of it as just 1-2 hours away from the TV which is a lot more productive in my eyes ;)

That’s always my argument too, would I actually be earning more over those 2 hours…

I voted “I’m actually good!” Life is just about the right balance right now. If I have more time, I’d probably goof off more. More money, probably just spend more. More love? Probably create more problems. I’m content today.

Why isn’t sleep an option here? I suppose it could fall under time (more time to finish things or handle stress) or money (paid caregiver to handle interruptions or meds) but sometimes neither helps and the next day is so much tougher than it needs to be.

Sleep is definitely precious, you’re not wrong there!

    It all depends.

If you are 90 years old, time is more important. However, if you are 30+ years old and have a family, then money is probably more important.

Money cannot buy time. If I am Warren Buffett, who is 87 years old, I will definitely want more time than money.

At this point, I need more time. My days have been non stop since July. I’m working at a new job and started a new side hustle. I don’t have as much time to work on things as I thought. I’d do better with a 25/8 than I’m currently doing with 24/7.

      Hahaha… I hear that brother..

But if there’s one thing I know about you, it’s that you never stop grinding!!

Every year we talk and every year you’re still at it chipping away that debt, man..

Super super proud of you, even though I know sometimes it doesn’t feel like the needle’s moving much…

I love that quote about money. Well I remember this poll going round & I think I answered time. While I’d like more time, I want to swap that answer for love. I am not sure there is ever too much love!! Of course with any of these when your cup is full, give some away!

Life is so dynamic and subject to our interpretation in the moment, that I imagine the 1 in 5 who said they were good, probably were at that moment. But some guarantees about life are change & seasons.

You’re very right about that! Any day can bring a whirlwind of change – for the better or the worse! Though I feel like you’ve gotten way more than your fair share of the “worse” over your lifetime, so here’s hoping things only get better for you :) I want that cup overflowing, baby!!

I need more time to make more money. I am currently working full time, momming, and taking two classes. That being said, I’ll be done with the classes my Thanksgiving and it will qualify me for a little raise. (I’m reading this after putting my son to bed and doing homework). I need to keep on keepin’ on.

I would gratefully say yes to any of the three, I’m not picky! ;) I promise to make good use of whatever it is.

We’re probably doing pretty well all things considered. We are grateful for our family, we’ve found good compromises on how to spend our time mostly, we’re working hard to earn and save. I’d like to have more time to earn more and then to stop earning but objectively we’re doing well at the rate we’re doing. I would love more time and money to help out friends trying to get out of serious (abusive) situations better, though. That’s probably my biggest worry right now.

      Ugh, that’s never good…

If you want to shoot me a note on the side, I’d be willing to offer some help/$$ to your friends if you think it would help??! We used to do it all the time with #DebtDrop and sometimes just the thought/little cash could make all the difference in their moods/motivation… for what it’s worth! :)

Need more time. Work at a hedge fund and spend ~12 hours a day during the week and work a half day every Sunday. Have been doing this for a long time now.

I really enjoy my work so the hours do not bother me at all. But I do wish I had more time to relax and maintain my relationships with family and old friends.

      Oh man, totally!!!

Do you have an end game in mind for the gig or even your own financial goals? Or just grinding it out and going with the flow until something diverts you?
